What hotel in 2017 doesn't have a fitness center? This is an unrenovated, depressing mausoleum. Everything is dingy. The rooms are small and the bathrooms tiny. Spend the extra money to stay at the Sheraton around the corner.

loved this quaint hotel. great access to many restaurants. free parking across the street at City Hall. it was a bit noisy at night because of its central location but they provide free ear plugs, which I used.

The building dates to 1924 and it certainly has character. Some rooms have their own sink and others actually have to share the facilities (but with a much lower room price). Indeed this is "value priced". The rooms have ceiling fans and old fashioned radiators for heat (and which work pretty well). The internet is complimentary and works well (it...

Hotel is old and preserved with modern updates. Only amenity is free wi-fi. No breakfast, although they give you a (single) pass for a light breakfast at an expensive place next door. It's within walking distance to a lot of restaurants in downtown Palo Alto. Also just a 5-10 minute walk to the Palo Alto Station where you can catch...

Enjoyed my stay at the Cardinal immensely - the rooms were more than comfortable and had all the modern luxuries you'd expect from a Palo Alto hotel, including cable TV and fast wi-fi. Good location for walks to the Stanford Mall, University Avenue and train transportation directly into San Francisco. Would highly recommend for business or pleasure.

Over the years the Cardinal has been cleaned up and modernized, but never lost its charm. The rooms are spotless, the staff friendly and helpful, and the location cannot be matched. If you choose a room without a bath the public showers and bathrooms are equally clean. The lobby is very definition of what a lobby used to be. Sit...

Excellent place to be in Palo Alto, with a great location, near from restaurants and Train station. The hotel has the warmth of a home, it's quaint and ideal to young travelers. The rooms are spacious and comfortables

Palo Alto is hip, modern, gleaming (and pricey). The Cardinal is a bit of a relic. The service was good, the essentials worked well, the location is great. But the place overall is a bit worn. The elevator is a bit of a museum piece (you open a sliding door by hand), and after the first try I decided it...

Right in the heart of Palo Alto. Could not be better located. As simple as that. Hotel as quirky things like old phone booths and original features in the lobby from the 1920s. But in the rooms it's moser and luxurious. Beds and pillows are brilliant. Feels like brand new. In an old property I thought floor boards would at...

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel whilst visiting friends and family who live in Palo Alto. The hotel is in the best location right in the heart of Palo Alto. We booked a room with private facilities which was excellent. Room 307, corner room, airy, clean, comfortable and decent space. The bathroom was fantastic, powerful shower with quality amenities. Everything...
