Let's clarify one thing at the outset: this establishment is not an Inn in the modern sense of that term. It is a motel, and the correct name is Siesta Inn Motel. There is a glowing review (along side a not so glowing one) that suggests a quiet, cozy retreat, where one may be tempted to sequester curled up in bed etc. - they are clearly describing some B&B with a similar name. This is a somewhat run down motel which is short on amenities, does not accept credit cards, does not fuss over cleanliness; but also doesn't berrate you for checking out late. The owner is a very nice man, who seems accomodating and flexible. When I stayed there sporadically over several nights, I was the only guest in the entire place! Now, for a certain type of sensibility this is life imitating art with the flavor of the motel in Psycho - minus the fact that you're on Colorado Blvd and surrounded by other motels and businesses, and alas, no haunted mansion perched on a hill. Like in the movie, this is a great place if you're a criminal on the run, or simply seek a certain mode of privacy. But if you are a business traveler expecting a coffee maker, wake up call, CNN and a closet to hang your suit, there are other motels nearby that are more likely to offer such features. That being said, the room is spacious, as well the ante bath with a large mirror and generous counter-top space next to hand sink. The rate is $48/night and $320/week. I saw no indication of vermin. One particular shortcoming, however, is the loud, unvarying humm made by the television - bad enough to compel one to shut it off, no matter the content.

The room we stayed in was very filthy. We were hesitant to touch the door handles! The walls had stains and spots on them. Fixtures were missing, or broken. Towels given were threadbare. The bars of soap were very small and did not lather. As we were leaving, the manager was walking past us to another room with a box of rat poison!!!
