My husband, myself and our 5 children (aged 5-12) stayed here in late December as the last stop on a 5 week USA trip before flying out to Hawaii. We were sooooo happy with this choice, which we had made based entirely on TA reviews....More
Awesome stay. Clean and in a great location. All you need in a room where you spend very little time. Highlight = Fantastic staff. During out minimal stay we had contact with 3 different staff members and received excellent service from each one.
Located just minutes from the beach, right between the Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach. This motel is priced right. Very clean rooms with the amenities you want. Free internet and parking. This is a Mom & Pop run type of place with great personal...More
The Sea Shore Motel is excellently located in between Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach -both within walking distance. There are also some great spots to eat nearby on Main Street. This is not a luxury hotel, but it doesn't try to be. The rooms...More
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller
coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.

It is not at all close or convenient to Hollywood or Universal. LA is very spread out and traffic is horrendous. I did the four hour tour as well, just for an overview and found it plenty. The stop at Universal was very brief, however, so not really enough time if you want to see more. Perhaps one of the two day, hop-on, hop-off tours would work for you to visit all the places at your leisure.
