The HI Santa Monica is a very nice Hostel but....A/C very loud (even after complaining, no changes during my 3 day stay), room not clean, matress old, bed bugs!!! Besides that everything is good and provides everything you would expect from a HI Hostel. The...More
I've been staying here for over 20 years. The renovations to bedrooms - new floors, bunks, shades - and the bathrooms are much appreciated and very good. I like the new shower and WC stalls which give much needed privacy.
I would only suggest that...More
Don’t come here and just go to other hostels. I wish I stayed at USA Hostels Hollywood or Freehand from the start, yes the locations are not as good as HI, however at least I’d have a good nights sleep and a clear throat! The...More

Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller
coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.

Suggest you call them. I arrived in the morning and they let me store my luggage in a locked store room but I couldn't go to the room. I went shopping and returned a little earlier than the posted check-in time and they let me in because the room was ready early. If you're asking do they run late, I don't know. When I was there they were still remodeling various floor. It's a very well managed place.
