Super central Santa Monica location. Room was large..comfortable and clean. A bit noisy being on the main road.. It is not good for any handicap or physically impaired persons as there are stairs to reach most of the rooms and the check-in. We had 4 super heavy suitcases and not easy to maneuver up stairs to the "ground floor" room. Staff super nice...for 1 or 2 nites with no bags its great! Will stay here again. Trader Joe's a block away and great restaurants within walking distance.
Room was clean and plenty of room. Location was excellent, walking distance to food, 2 miles from pier. Parking was difficult at times. Front desk staff at check in were rude and dry. Overall a good stay
Clean room, with nice eating area. Comfy beds along with refrigerator and microwave were nice to have. Especially since Trader Joe’s is across the street. I recommend walking 2 blocks to eat at Lares Mexican restaurant. Continental breakfast was good.
We stayed here for three nights in last month. It's clean and comfortable. Basic accommodation which was fine for us as we really only slept there. We had a hire car but didn't use it much as we used Uber most of the time (more convenient). Breakfast was standard fare. We bought some stuff from nearby Trader Joes (bonus!) to snack on. My only complaint is that the sink and vanity unit are in the actual room next to one of the beds (we had a twin Queen room) and it's very cramped. The bathroom itself was tiny. Also, no safe to keep your valuables (money, travel documents etc) in.
We have spent just under 3 weeks in the USA. Tennessee for 4 nights, New Orleans for 4 nights and then Santa Monica. The first 2 places we stayed in luxury 5* hotels but found Santa Monica extortionate so opted for the travel lodge due to amazing reviews. Upon arrival we weren't expecting much and the first impression seemed liked a typical motel, fortunately 1st impressions aren't always right!
We arrived at 930pm and were welcomed by a friendly reception guy who upgraded us free of charge to a larger room (room 203) on the ground floor.
The room was HUGE and immaculately clean. It had a separate small dining area with a fridge and microwave and a very large bathroom.
The beds are amazingly comfortable and the maids kept the room immaculate every single day. I've never seen a room cleaned so well, hence leaving a generous tip at the end of the stay.
The only downside and this is extremely minor was the free breakfast for me. There was nothing really for me as I like a hot breakfast in a morning. There was only toast and jam, cold boiled eggs, cereal and bagels. They did have a pancake machine and these were quite nice. My partner loved this but it's just not my thing. That's just a personal choice and it was very nice of them to provide this. However, the coffee was lovely. The dining area was spacious and always enough seats. The other downside was work was going on in some of the rooms and this started around 9am so breakfast was no peaceful! However, this never got in the way and wasn't a major issue at all.
LA is HUGE and you need a car to get around. The location is fantastic as it's only 30 mins from Universal and six flags and most other popular tourist spots. If you turn left out of the hotel, get the big blue bus number 7 and it's costs $1.25 (you must have exact chabge) and this takes you right to the beach and it's only a 10 min journey.
All in all, this was a fantastic place to stay. All the staff are outstanding and so so friendly. If we go back to Santa Monica we will definatley choose this hotel as bars and restaurants are close by if you don't want to go into the town.
Thanks to all the staff for an amazing stay, we miss you already!

Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller
coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.

If you arrive early enough, there is enough parking, but not necessarily by your room. There is more than one parking bay and you might have to walk. If all rooms are filled, I believe there is not a parking space for every room. However, street parking overnight seems to be easily available, and perhaps passes from the front desk. It is a constant irritation to us since we stay there once or twice a year. The value and room excellence makes it worthwhile. The breakfast, however, is meager.
We saw a bus route right on Pico that went past the Travelodge. We did not ride it but saw people at the bus stops waiting the evening we were there. I believe it was called the Big Blue Bus. Check it out on their website.
