What a fabulous place. A group of old college friends met up (after 2 years of covid cancels) with family and older children. Firstly the location is just perfect. It sits on a dead end street so there is no passing traffic which makes it very quiet. The facilities are perfect. Lots of plates, cups, glasses and cooking facilities. The lounge is cosy and we made use of the woodburner in The Barn. We also rented Prince and Flower cottages and had use of the 'hub' which had an enormous table. When 4 more friends visited for the day we could seat 23 people around the table comfortably!! The outside courtyard seating area was a little sun trap and had lots of tables and chairs. The beds were big and comfy with soft pillows. I honestly can't say anything bad about the place. Can't wait to go back. …
Hired 2 of the barns (Prince & the Barn) for a big girly Get together. The living spaces are perfect for entertaining and hanging out and having a bbq. Really relaxed local area. There’s a great enclosed garden out the back and a bbq our the front. Plenty of beds and bathrooms
These barns are simply amazing. We booked 2 of the barns for a family get together, there was 12 of us, 4 in the Blossom barn and 8 staying in ‘The barn’. We used the barn kitchen for all of us to eat together and there was plenty of space for all. We were lucky to have fab weather whilst there so spent most of the time outside on the patio area, this was a little squashed as the patio area is not massive but was ok. The bedrooms are spacious and well equipped with ensuits in the double rooms and a family bathroom to share by the twin rooms. The village it is set in is gorgeous and very quiet lovely to have a short stroll around in a morning. The local pub came and picked us up in a courtesy mini bus for a meal on the Saturday night which was a brilliant touch, this is the Woodman pub in the next village, we’ll worth booking and food is excellent. The disabled facilities in the Blosdom barn were good and the owner actually purchased a shower seat for the wet room in preparation for our stay, just goes to show how accommodating they are to any special needs or requirements you have. I have booked the barns again for next year as everyone in the party was impressed, hopefully we get the same sunny weather again. …
This was my second visit to the barns with friends. We stopped in Flower, absoblutely immaculate well equipped and so cosy. Friends were in the main barn and again it has every convenience imaginable. We ate out at The Woodmans Arms on Sat evening, the landlord has a complimentary mini bus that picked us up and dropped us back, great service!! Overall, beautiful location, fabulous accomodation, thoroughly recommended
On arrival at Goodlake Barns we were over the moon with The Prince. It is very well presented and very clean which is very important with self catering accommodation. The rooms are very spacious and all the bathrooms are lovely with lovely Out of Eden products to use as well, another nice touch. Housekeeping staff are very pleasant too and only too happy to help. We have stayed in many places in Oxfordshire and Goodlake Barns is by far the best. We shall definitely be booking up again.
Our party of 4 stayed at Flower Cottage for a week, chosen due to its proximity to the western half of the Ridgeway National Trail (Avebury to Goring). The cottage is on one level, has a good specification and is part of a group of self-catering properties which are converted farm buildings. Flower cottage has one double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower; the second bedroom has adjoining bathroom with bath only. Bedrooms and kitchen/dining room/lounge were comfortable. Cottage rental for one week in early September was £480, which we considered to be a reasonable rate. An attractive central courtyard has outdoor tables and chairs and a small car park (finding a space is difficult when all properties are occupied, but additional car parking is available nearby). A minor negative was the limited amount of cutlery and kitchen utensils. Information on places to visit is available in a small office in the complex and in the cottage. In addition to walking part of the Ridgeway Path, we had interesting visits to Oxford, the Great Barn at Great Coxwell and Buscot Park and village. The cottage is located in an attractive part of South Oxfordshire, is in a good walking area and has lively market towns nearby at Faringdon and Wantage. Oxford is about 20 miles away. There is no pub in Shelligford, but good options for drinking and dining out at Fernham and Longcot are a short car drive away. We would recommend Goodlake Barns to friends.…
On arrival at Goodlake Barns I was pleasantly surprised, a lovely quiet historic hamlet of an Oxfordshire village with amazingly large accommodation. The flow of the accommodation felt almost therapeutic, certainly a home from home. I spent 3 weeks all in all and I must say It was great. The owners tend to every need, available for any questions about the area or needs. I had every convenience to hand and the surrounding pubs served great food, walks and jogging up White Horse Hill and my family nearby. Superb.
We've hired Goodlake Barns as a great place for a group get together for the past three years, and with big birthday's to celebrate this year, decided to go back again. The barns are beautifully presented and decorated, located in a quiet area of the Oxfordshire countryside. Andrew, the host, was brilliant; looking after us from the initial enquiry and booking, until the very end; saying goodbye and ensuring that we'd had a good stay. This year we went walking at explored the local wildlife across fields and up to the Uffington White Horse. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will, no doubt, be returning next year.
We booked 4 of the cottages for our wedding weekend, bringing friends and family together close to our wedding venue. The cottages were absolutely perfect! Spotless, well appointed, well equipped and very comfortable! The Barn is perfect for families, lots of space and great for entertaining! Blossom, Punch and Flower were all great to disappear to at the end of the day for some peace and quiet! We could not recommend this more for both small or larger groups! Goodlake provided us with the perfect setting to celebrate our special weekend! Thanks to Andrew and the Goodlake team!
we stayed four nights in Pony, this is generally used as an extra bedroom for the barn but was perfectly adequate for our needs. The room has a very comfortable super king size bed, very nice shower room, a small table and two chairs and a compact kitchen area which had everything we needed. There is no actual oven but the two rings and microwave, along with a toaster were fine. The village is very quiet and ensured a good night's sleep. We were met by Andrew who was very welcoming and told us some information about the area. The room was very clean as was the bedding and towels. It was freshly and tastefully decorated and there was free wifi in the room. A very pleasant experience.
