What a fabulous place. A group of old college friends met up (after 2 years of covid cancels) with family and older children. Firstly the location is just perfect. It sits on a dead end street so there is no passing traffic which makes it very quiet. The facilities are perfect. Lots of plates, cups, glasses and cooking facilities. The lounge is cosy and we made use of the woodburner in The Barn. We also rented Prince and Flower cottages and had use of the 'hub' which had an enormous table. When 4 more friends visited for the day we could seat 23 people around the table comfortably!! The outside courtyard seating area was a little sun trap and had lots of tables and chairs. The beds were big and comfy with soft pillows. I honestly can't say anything bad about the place. Can't wait to go back.

We have just returned from a weekend in Barn (sleeps 8) and Prince (sleeps 6, but one bedroom is very large and there is also sofa bed). Lovely accommodation - very comfortable and clean. Well equipped. Fabulous comfy beds! Good kitchens with large cooker in The Barn. Shellingford is very small and quiet, but we went out for walks / cycle rides. I think it is very likely we will return!

Hired 2 of the barns (Prince & the Barn) for a big girly Get together. The living spaces are perfect for entertaining and hanging out and having a bbq. Really relaxed local area.
There’s a great enclosed garden out the back and a bbq our the front. Plenty of beds and bathrooms

These barns are simply amazing. We booked 2 of the barns for a family get together, there was 12 of us, 4 in the Blossom barn and 8 staying in ‘The barn’. We used the barn kitchen for all of us to eat together and there was plenty of space for all. We were lucky to have fab weather whilst there so spent most of the time outside on the patio area, this was a little squashed as the patio area is not massive but was ok. The bedrooms are spacious and well equipped with ensuits in the double rooms and a family bathroom to share by the twin rooms. The village it is set in is gorgeous and very quiet lovely to have a short stroll around in a morning. The local pub came and picked us up in a courtesy mini bus for a meal on the Saturday night which was a brilliant touch, this is the Woodman pub in the next village, we’ll worth booking and food is excellent. The disabled facilities in the Blosdom barn were good and the owner actually purchased a shower seat for the wet room in preparation for our stay, just goes to show how accommodating they are to any special needs or requirements you have. I have booked the barns again for next year as everyone in the party was impressed, hopefully we get the same sunny weather again.

we stayed four nights in Pony, this is generally used as an extra bedroom for the barn but was perfectly adequate for our needs. The room has a very comfortable super king size bed, very nice shower room, a small table and two chairs and a compact kitchen area which had everything we needed. There is no actual oven but the two rings and microwave, along with a toaster were fine. The village is very quiet and ensured a good night's sleep. We were met by Andrew who was very welcoming and told us some information about the area. The room was very clean as was the bedding and towels. It was freshly and tastefully decorated and there was free wifi in the room. A very pleasant experience.

We've hired Goodlake Barns as a great place for a group get together for the past three years, and with big birthday's to celebrate this year, decided to go back again.
The barns are beautifully presented and decorated, located in a quiet area of the Oxfordshire countryside.
Andrew, the host, was brilliant; looking after us from the initial enquiry and booking, until the very end; saying goodbye and ensuring that we'd had a good stay.
This year we went walking at explored the local wildlife across fields and up to the Uffington White Horse.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will, no doubt, be returning next year.

We booked 4 of the cottages for our wedding weekend, bringing friends and family together close to our wedding venue. The cottages were absolutely perfect! Spotless, well appointed, well equipped and very comfortable! The Barn is perfect for families, lots of space and great for entertaining! Blossom, Punch and Flower were all great to disappear to at the end of the day for some peace and quiet! We could not recommend this more for both small or larger groups! Goodlake provided us with the perfect setting to celebrate our special weekend! Thanks to Andrew and the Goodlake team!

We stayed in the barn this weekend for a hen party. The barn was just perfect. It is in fabulous (new) condition and has everything you need, including a well stocked kitchen. It is so spacious, but has a really cosy luxurious feel. We loved being able to open the kitchen doors out on to the courtyard in the sunshine. The two double bedrooms are huge with ensuites and king size beds. The twin rooms are smaller but still very nice. If we had been there with kids, there were also doors from the lounge which opened out onto a large enclosed grassy area. The owner was very helpful and accommodating too. The village is stunning, though there are no amenities in the village. Easy access to a beautiful area. I cannot fault this accommodation, and several of the group are intending to return with their families

Goodlake Barns is a small complex of quality accommodation set in a rural village. I stayed in Flower as part of a wedding party and it was light and airy, beautifully clean and well maintained. My only gripe is that there was only one table to sit around outside: would be nice if each barn had their own. A car is a must as the nearest little market town, Faringdon, is 10 mins away. A lovely place to get away from it all and perfect for cycling, walking. Have a look at the old church just around the corner from the farm, lovely.

I think Goodlake Barns deserve much more than the current overall 2.5 score as the cottage we stayed in was just lovely.
We stayed in 'Blossom' for a week in April 2013 during school holidays. It was the only cottage available in Goodlake Barns to accommodate the four of us for the week - seems quite popular. I made the booking round about after Christmas and paid the deposit via credit card. For the balance I had the option of paying by card again or cash on arrival which I think was reasonable.
We arrived really late after a long journey and managed to find the cottage fine using the postcode on SatNav. Andrew the owner came & greeted us the next morning. We think the owners are polite & unintrusive.
Parking was in a gravelled area in the courtyard. There are however plenty of parking spaces behind one of the cottages & further down the road if people would like to keep the courtyard clear.
'Blossom' has full length glass windows and doors in the living room/kitchen/diner facing the courtyard so the overall feeling was bright and airy. There are blackout curtains if you prefer privacy.
During our stay weather was sunny but very cold - well below 10 degrees - a bit unusual for this time of year. But as the cottage was kept nice and warm & with the views we could pretend that spring is actually here.
Heating is on all the time, there is a control dial in the living room to adjust the temperature. From the leaflet we learnt that some of the other cottages have underfloor heating. Ours didn't but it didn't feel cold.
Bedrooms are comfortable and situated on either ends of the living/kitchen area. In the master bedroom there is a superking size bed with a firm hotel quality mattress (just as comfortable if not more than Premier Inn's Good Night Guarantee)- just what we liked. The twin bedroom has equally comfortable (we think medium firm) two single beds. Bedding is fresh and crisp - good quality from The White Company. So are the towels. Plenty of hanging spaces & drawers to keep our belongings.
The whole place is spotlessly clean. There are Grohe showers in the shower rooms. Easy to use and powerful too. Pressures do drop slightly if you turn on all the taps simultanously but there doesn't seem to be much of a problem even with the four of us.
Kitchen was in my opinion well equipped - there is even a cafetierre (although we brought our own plus our Moka pot - we have to have our coffee). There is a full sized built in fridge/freezer and washing machine.
There is a good iron, ironing board and hairdryer. TV is only about 19 inch but we don't intend to use it much on our little break.
On my good old 3GS iPhone wifi reception was around 2/3 throughout the cottage which was adequate for surfing and checking emails - and it's free.
There is a folder underneath the TV stand that contains all the information about the cottage including nearby shops/petrol station/takeaways/restaurants/pubs/attractions and public transport. Additional leaflets are available in reception area. Maps for walks in the area is available on request.
I was attending a conference in Oxford for three days during the stay. I took bus no 66 from Faringdon to central Oxford for £6.50 (Explorer ticket). Journey took 40 minutes roughly. Faringdon is just about 10 minutes drive from the cottage and if required there is all day parking at Gloucester Street for £2.80 (first 2 hours free).
Overall, I think the cottage provides excellent value for money. The owners have paid lots of attention to things that really matter - clean, warm and cosy, great quality beds & bedding, good powerful showers. Ok they don't provide little extras like Molton Brown toiletries or 40 inch TV like some places we have stayed in previously but we paid a whole lot more per night and they were not even as comfortable as this one. One can gripe about anything but I think this time it was perfect for our little stay.
