Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was nice to know that it wasn't a one off fluke, the lovely stay I had the first time. I was treated to Room 4 this time and it does make you feel a little special. There was absolutely no noise in this room either. The dinner was 5 Stars, the beer was 5 Stars, the staff were 5 Stars and the breakfast was also 5 Stars.

We ate at the Fox and Hounds last night and it was one of the nicest meals we have had in the Vale of Glamorgan for years.
Crab pate was really tasty, tandoori cod bites were excellent, the smoked chicken Caesar salad was great and the lamb kebabs were fantastic – cubes of lamb cooked perfectly with a wonderful marinade/rub.
Oh, and the beer was spot on!

Sunday lunch at the Fox & Hounds today
prepared by Chef Matthew James was absolutely fantastic, deep fried Brie, followed by melt in the mouth pork belly, my husband and other members of our party had roast beef and the turkey breast which were both very tender, juicy and full of flavour. Meals were accompanied by huge serving of vegetables and cauliflower cheese, then for dessert yummy salted caramel cheesecake. Lovely ambiance and great service. Can't wait for our next visit.

A nice country pub situated in a quiet pleasant village within ten minutes' drive of Cardiff airport. It's a shame that it's not better run. We booked a night's accommodation some weeks beforehand (and at first received no confirmation till we phoned them later and they told us we were already booked in) and booked a table for the evening meal. They phoned us on the day of our travel to say that they don't do food on Mondays. On arrival we said we were disappointed by that and were told grumpily that we couldn't have booked it. But they had phoned us that very day. In the morning there was no hot water; the girl in reception was not concerned for us ("Yeah, the cook's trying to fix it."). The breakfast was very poor - a small selection of commercial cereals, a small plate of salami and cheese cubes for the several guests and cheap toast.
This pub could be great - if they were less grudging and the staff were taught how to be a lot more we lcoming.

Mixed feelings , very kind young man met us and let us check in early , lovely big room could hear the brook from our room which was great . The room is tired we were told new owners working on updating the place . Our bed was massive and very comfortable , I could feel springs in the mattress but slept fine . Continental breakfast on week days was lovely . Unfortunately the full Welsh fried breakfast was awful on the Saturday morning . I understand the new owner is trying to update the place but the tables in the restaurant area were sticky each morning our clothes stuck to the chairs and the plates had to be peeled off the table . The location of the pub was beautiful. Our little dog was made very welcome which really pleased me so top marks for that . We had 2 very different experiences with the staff on our arrival day the young lady was brilliant and the following morning too , nothing was too much trouble . But the next few day was a completely opposite experience with a different young lady . The place has a great feel to it , locals at the bar having food and a drink nice atmospheric in the evening . One last thing the heating in our room not sure why but it was off after we returned from a long cold day out to a cold room

Stopped by for a couple of drinks.
Two pints of beer and two wines ... £26.50!! No one minds pubs and other hospitality venues implementing modest price increases to recoup some of their losses during lockdowns, but this is simply taking the p***. Lovely pub. Great location. Shame that they’re being a bit too greedy.

Lovely spacious dog friendly rooms with staff who would have done anything to make our experience the best. As they don’t offer their full menu during the week they recommended an amazing pub down the road for food.
Sat nav did find it difficult to find as it’s down some country roads but it’s a lovely place to stay.

Great Sunday Lunch at the Fox. Generous portion of meat - we chose the lamb and the pork. Delicious vegetables, roast potatoes, Yorkshires and gravy. Didn’t really have room for dessert but couldn’t resist and both the vanilla cheesecake and panacotta were fantastic. Really lovely sitting outside by the river. The chef Que really knows how to add flavour to every part of the meal.

My husband and I visited for Sunday lunch and all I can say was the food was absolutely amazing, definitely one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve ever had. There’s a warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff are lovely. I can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in.
