We stayed a single night in the Forequarter room. The view was as gorgeous as we expected, and the room is actually a bit larger than some photos suggest. Also, George is an accomplished carpenter, so custom built-ins (a closet, tv shelves, and night stands) make the space incredibly functional. The bath is large and comfortable, and there is even...

We had the room with the beautiful view of the water and it was very nice. Breakfast was good (eggs, meat, etc.). The homemade jam was AWESOME. This was a great location to visit Peggy's Cove and Prospect.

We often visit Nova Scotia for its Atlantic Canada relaxed atmosphere, honest beauty, friendly folks, food (lobster) and ocean adventures. Anchors Gate, owned and operated by Nancy and George, is almost always our first stop. George is a ship building Newfoundlander with a barn shop worthy of his fine craftsmanship. The entire B&B reflects his efforts toward quality Atlantic Canadian...

Nancy & George are excellent hosts, in a perfectly situated location just 20 minutes outside of Halifax and near the incredible granite outcrop in Peggy's Cove. Clean, comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast, fun & interesting conversations, great information about things to see, places to go, and directions on how best to get there.

Booked a room here and when we arrived to check in the owner told us we could not stay with our newborn. I am an eco-tour operator in the province and will be sure to not recommend this business to anyone visiting. We were hoping to be able to recommend a few B&B's to our guests, but Anchor's Gate won't...

Good customer service is important to us and we appreciate you raising the concern about service to families. We believe we have been a family friendly home (children 2 and older) over the years but we lack the proper facilities to accommodate new born babies in our main house. We have a self contained unit which can accommodate any age,...

We stayed one night in September. Our room was large clean and had a great view of the bay. We also had a small diner table and fridge. The table came in handy as there is a great pizza place near by and this gave us a break from eating in a restaurant. The breakfast was good and the conversation...

This bed and breakfast was quite cute and very very clean. We had the room with the best view of the water and we really enjoyed being able to see the water from every point in the room. Our hosts were so friendly and we had a great conversation over a lovely breakfast. Would go back sometime or refer others....

My husband and I stayed at Anchor's Gate in Aug 2014 when we went back to his native Nova Scotia for a wedding. After a LONG trip from CT, we were greeted with a clean, comfy, private destination with gorgeous views of Shad Bay. We had a private entrance, and the room was complete with a private bathroom, table and...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our home. We appreciate it. George said,Oops, he thought that comment would come back and bite him (: context was not the country but government and its susceptibility to gridlock. Clean, comfortable room. The hosts are very helpful and breakfast is more than filling. Perfect place to learn about the history of Nova Scotia & Newfoundland as the host is very knowledgable. Close to Halifax & Peggy's Cove so a good base to explore in both directions.
