We booked this hotel as a dinner, bed & breakfast deal through a 3rd party and what a find!

Communication from the hotel from the moment we booked until departure was prompt, clear & utterly helpful. Big thank you to Jasmine & Charlotte on reception for their help & attention to our booking. Nothing was too much trouble & instilled confidence in our weekend ahead. Thank you, ladies.

All staff were friendly, helpful & accommodating. Even though our weekend away wasn't a particularly special occasion, we were so well looked after by Rachel & Zoe in the restaurant, we felt we were celebrating every day. Such amazing service and a familiar, warm welcome every time. Thank you both, for making us feel so special.

The restaurant serves delicious food with a good variety of dishes & caters well for children of all ages. The big picture windows offer a superb spot for looking out over the green & grounds in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. The restaurant is well spaced to allow families, big parties & couples to share the space without disturbing each other & the staff made an effort to ensure my husband & I could enjoy our weekend together alongside the families & groups that wanted to do the same. Very good planning & service, which made a real difference.

The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable & well tended with a large, clean bathroom & beautiful Penhaligon soap & shower gel. A subtle note about previous guests 'helping themselves' to these made us smile & has inspired us to seek some out now we're home. We were given a lovely quiet room on the 3rd floor with a view of the golf course - just perfect.

We don't golf, but followed the hotel's 'red route' walking trail, which circumnavigated the course. Even with my limited knowledge, it looks to be expansive & challenging to even the most seasoned player. Certainly, the course was busy all three days we were staying & the bar full & lively at the end of each day, so that would suggest the course is worth playing if you're a golfer. The walking routes take in some beautiful views & illustrate the vast grounds of the property. Guests are free to explore & come & go as they please, which so refreshing for a golfing hotel.

There is plenty of parking, and we went out every day, without worry if being able to park later. But, with such good facilities, you could spend the whole day exploring the grounds & making use of the good size & very clean pool.

Am excellent base for exploring the region, we cannot fault our stay at all & would visit again without hesitation.

We visited as a party of three couples to celebrate a birthday and loved Mansion House from the moment we stepped through the door to be welcomed by a real fire and a smile from Reception. The food in 1560 was both a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds - shout out to the guys in the kitchen Nikkos and Jack - also kudos to Sarah for impressive single handed tray work with some very full pint glasses! Each room was spotless, individually furnished and resplendent with crisp linen and fluffy towels - it would seem the housekeeping team take just as much care as their colleagues in other departments. Thank you to everyone.

We were one of the first people to stay after the hotel opened after the lock-down. We were made to feel really welcome, the staff were great, very friendly and helpful and we could see that they were bending over backwards to ensure every safety measures were in place to keep people safe. Our rooms were sanitised on arrival, staff wore masks, there were sanitising gels everywhere and corridors, doors and common areas were being sprayed with disinfectant. There was a complimentary pack of gloves, mask, and gel in the room. We ate dinner outside or inside, food supplied from a barbecue or pizza oven and it was excellent and plentiful. Breakfast was left outside our room every morning, with additional bacon/sausage baps available with drinks in the reception.
The golf course was in great condition and was quite a challenge with water, well placed bunkers all in a very pretty setting.
Thanks to all the staff, we had a brilliant weekend and would encourage people to give it a try, they deserve every success!

We stayed here 15th feb to celebrate our anniversary with friends and all I can say is it was consistently average.
We booked a winter deal for 1 night with a two course meal and drink included but the meal turned out to be a very limited and uninspiring buffet rather than a proper restaurant meal! Don’t bother at all if you are a non meat eater as the choice at both dinner and breakfast is very limited indeed unless you like croissant. Golf course view Room actually looked out in to the car park, it was average size and clean enough but that’s all that can be said. Shampoo/shower gel are bolted to the wall a la Premier Inn; no other products supplied.
Our friend’s room with accessible shower only had twin beds which were on wheels and very unstable. Also, be aware that there is a lift to the restaurant but you still have to tackle five steps from the lift to the restaurant door and likewise from the foyer there are still steps to tackle if you want to get down to the bar. So, if you have mobility problems, are celibate, tea total and don’t mind paying full rate for bland buffet food then this is the place for you!

I had the most wonderful weekend away recently at this property, it has easy access from London, but is far enough away from the motorway that it cant be seen or heard. The grounds are fantastic, with a beautiful lawn at the rear of the property and a winding golf course to the front, which offers a perfect space for country walks (you can even borrow wellington boots from reception!). The rooms have been recently refurbished to a high-standard (in the Mansion House) in a very modern ‘country’ theme. Dinner and breakfast is taken in a well-appointed room at the rear of the property which offers fantastic views over the garden. The only one word of advice, the pool and gym are in a separate property to the bedroom, so don’t try and brave the winter weather in just a dressing gown. My partner and I will be sure to try another De Vere soon as all the properties we have been fortunate enough to visit have been lovingly restored.

This was our first venture out of the house since “lockdown” and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The hotel has made sure it is Covid safe to the utmost degree with sanitiser stations positioned absolutely everywhere and each bedroom sealed shut for you to open yourselves upon arrival. There are very sweet little PPE packages in each room containing hand sanitizer, mask, socks and gloves which is a lovely gesture.
The restaurant is running a more stream lined menu but honestly nothing is too much trouble if like me you have a lot of dietary requirements. In fact, Emily the chef, even came out to see me personally to work out a menu for me which was very kind of her. Richard and her make a fantastic team and the food was delicious, all helped along by Hannah who is a credit to the bar and very attentive. The front desk manager Arnaud is just as diligent and was very helpful in finding me a sunny spot to chill out in whilst my husband relaxed in the pool. You have to book your session in advance but there was plenty of slots to choose from!
We wouldn’t hesitate to come back and only wish we could’ve got childcare for us to have an extra night!!!

We booked to stay at Wokefield as an end of furlough getaway before starting work again, and it turned out to be the perfect place to fully escape real life and relax! They had loads of provisions in place to be COVID conscious; rooms sanitised and sealed, hand sanitiser stations everywhere, and all staff in masks.

As we were staying in the first week of the mansion house re-opening there were a few issues with the rooms that needed ironing out, but that absolutely paled in comparison to how helpful the staff were with dealing with any problems and making us feel totally at home. Arnaud, Bevan, Marshall and Shannon were particularly helpful and so friendly - it took us ages to get anywhere because we kept stopping to chat!

Being gluten free, I was worried about having enough options for food in the restaurant but Hannah, Ben and Dan were amazingly patient and helpful in talking me through everything and Chef Robert even made me some of my own dishes to fit with what I could eat!

Overall, we had an amazing stay and have been recommending Wokefield to lots of family and friends. We'll definitely be going back soon.

Last weekend we celebrated our 1st Wedding Anniversary at Wokefield Estate and what an amazing stay we had. The staff were amazing and we had one of the suites for the evening which was of a very high standard. Our evening consisted of cocktails at the bar and then dinner in the Mansion House restaurant, we couldn't fault a thing with our stay and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a little getaway.

For those unsure on having nights away with the current situation, I can say that Wokefield were very Covid prepared our suite had been sanitised before our stay and there were little packs in our room containing masks and sanitiser for our personal use. Staff wore masks and the Mansion House is of a size where social distancing is possible even on a busy weekend.

We highly recommend and no doubt will be returning x

The most disappointing hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
Booked through secret escapes, I checked De Vere website for photos etc (looked lovely) and read various reviews, which all seemed good.
I was expecting a lovely mansion house but arrived to find an unattractive modern building. Nothing resembled the website photos, I felt duped.
Check in was good and friendly.
It was a long walk to room 303, on the way saw dirty service trays outside rooms, which were still there late into the evening, the carpet on the stairs needed fixing and Ant bait in various places in the hotel does not create a good impression.
Had a drink in the bar, was kept waiting about 5 minutes, wondered if it was self service, the barman gave no apology, barely spoke to take our order, then didn’t have the wine that was on the menu (I don’t think he bothered to look properly for it.) looking around the bar area, tables needed a wipe over, the floor was dirty and broken glass in the outside area that you’re looking out at.
Room was pleasant, large bathroom, 1 of the 2 basins was broken (the lever for the plug didn’t work) but didn’t find it a problem because we had another one.
The next day lifted the toilet seat and found a thick black hair and urine drips that were not ours.
Dinner was terrible. We had to ask 3 times for butter, which came on a dirty plate that had butter smeared all over. Nobody asked if we’d like to order drinks, yes we could’ve tried to catch someone’s eye but by this stage had gone off the idea. The Buffet was POOR and very limited choice. All there was, grilled chicken, sausages in gravy, cod with a sauce, vegetable crumble, other vegetables and new potatoes that had bad bits in. I wish I’d taken a photo.
I complained to Kristina the manageress who was lovely, but did not seem to think anything was wrong, she did her best to accommodate us, but the food was awful and ruined our stay.
Breakfast was very nice, good continental choice, teas, coffees, pastries and juices, then hot choice was good but not very hot.
Check out was matter of fact, going through the motions and did not ask if we enjoyed our stay, perhaps she New the answer?
We thought it was good to have hand sanitiser at various places in the hotel but some were empty.
I would not recommend anyone to go to this hotel, it was money down the drain.
The only asset is Kristina in the restaurant and thank you to her.

We stayed at Wokefield Place for 4 nights along with another couple and would say there were more negatives than positives. We had pre-booked an evening meal for the first night and were disappointed with the restaurant because (1) it had no atmosphere at all but strongly resembled a staff canteen (2) it had a very limited menu (3) the food and drinks were really expensive for what you got. We subsequently found a really good local gastropub to eat at for the rest of our stay (look on Google Maps!).
Our bedrooms were good, nicely decorated with comfy beds, as you would expect; in fact we could have been in any large chain hotel bedroom as they were no different to a Premier Inn room. Unfortunately during our whole stay there were no housekeeping services provided, no beds made, towels replaced, toilet rolls topped up, bins emptied or coffee/ tea / milk replaced. No explanation was given. Additionally there were various events taking place within the complex close to the bedrooms over our stay, including a wedding, which generated a lot of noise late into the night.
After the disappointment of the previous evening meal the self service breakfast provided in the 'canteen' was indeed good and plentiful with a wide choice of both hot and cold options.
The grounds were beautiful, extensive and well maintained, The main attraction of this hotel is the golf course, a round of golf was surprisingly reasonably priced, maybe because we were staying at the hotel. The course was interesting and provided a good challenge with the deceivingly placed bunkers. There were hoards of players on the course on Friday when we played but the other days there were very few in comparison. One surprise we found was a number of people were staying at the hotel with their dogs and they rated the provisions made for their animals as excellent.
