Hard to find just the right words, but Beautiful and Fantastic come to mind. The hotel was amazing. Stayed two nights in this wonderful place and had a great time. The rooms were large and comfortable and clean. The hotel was a work of art, from the front lobby to the welcome desk and on to each floor. It is...

We've stayed here before. Upgrade to the Premium Rooms, they are worth the difference. Next time (if we stay here) we will forego breakfast - it just isn't that good (see my review). When we were here a few years ago, the food was just plain outstanding. My understanding is that they changed restaurant measurement, and it certainly shows. Locals...

The starter hotel is a step back in time..we loved all the antiques especially the furniture. We were checked in right away and everyone at the front desk was helpful and friendly. We were in room 231 second floor and our room was wonderful..our friends had room 217 and it was quite a bit smaller so if you want more...

Let me start off with the staff. They were fantastic, from the very first step into the building they were very attentive and cordial. Absolutely fantastic. Then I got to the elevator, I was on the fourth floor and it may have taken me 20 minutes to get there not sure I passed out I think. Very slow elevator. When...

Starter Hotel has history and charm, however lots of quirks that the staff attribute to the historic status. Be sure to put the do not disturb sign on the door since the staff entered without knocking at 9:00 a.m. Our key stopped working and was cancelled after our first night for a three night stay. Usually not a big deal...

We stayed at the Strater overnight after attending the Follies production for Snowdown Days, which was held in the Strater Theatre. Absolutely wonderful experience. History, atmosphere, relics and wonderful staff made the stay very memorable. If in Durango, spend at least a night in this 130 year old landmark. John W.

I travel to Durango for business, and I always stay at the Strater Hotel. Beautiful historic hotel. The upgraded King rooms are much nicer and worth the nominal increase in price; I save some money by reserving the room rate without breakfast. I think The Office bar has a great vibe, good drinks and food. The location of the Stater...

We arrived for a single night but stayed three as a result of bad weather. This was a wonderful place to be stuck. The hotel is very comfortable, well and interestingly furnished and above all had exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Durango itself is a very rewarding town so it made for a great stay despite the weather.

We wanted to get away for my partners birthday...and we picked the right place. The staff at the Strater could not be nicer or more accommodating. The checkin process is quick and easy and then off to a well appointed room. This place is clean and comfortable. They have memorabilia everywhere...take time to check out the displays. We went for...

My wife wanted a magical and memorable white Christmas. She got one! The Strater and all that Durango has to offer made it a memorable holiday week. The victorian themed hotel was 5 star in every way. From the charming room and extremely comfortable bed, to the fun and entertaining 1800's themed Diamond Bell Saloon that served bar and dining...
