Located on the A7 Borders route, 15 miles from Edinburgh the Castle can be hired in its entirety for private celebrations, weddings, banquets or meetings with up to 70 dining and 28 sleeping. With private hire comes our dedicated team who will provide you with the warmest welcome, a highly professional service and a friendly personal touch. You are in for a treat if you ever have the chance to experience staying at Borthwick Castle, it is truly magical and unique. The castle retains it's ancient feel but has been refurbished to an amazing level of luxe detail. Everywhere you look there is something to surprise and delight you, the beds are incredibly comfortable and the food prepared by their in house chefs are top restaurant quality. Most of all the staff are delightful - friendly, attentive and clearly the top of their game they go out of their way to make your event and stay as special as possible. We feel very lucky to have been able to host our wedding here it was honestly a dream :D

Just returned home from my sisters wedding weekend at Borthwick Castle. It was the most incredibly perfect weekend in every way imaginable. Decor is stunning with no corners cut. Rooms are amazing with the comfiest beds. Food was incredible. However I would say thing that really sets the venue apart is undoubtedly the staff and the standard of service we received. My mum has limited mobility and Chris and Damien always made sure to be on hand to assist her get around the castle. Absolutely everyone was approachable, friendly, accommodating and happy to go above and beyond and I really appreciate every effort that was made to make this weekend as perfect as it was.

We had our wedding at Borthwick Castle in January and it was perfect - everything we ever dreamt of! Amy our co-ordination was amazing, nothing was too much trouble and everything was planned to perfection. In fact all the staff were amazing - very friendly and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble. The food was perfection, in fact a number of people commented it was the best wedding food they had ever had! The venue itself is exquisite, the decor was in keeping with the history of the castle but it had ever mod con you could think of and the beds were so comfy! If you are think about having your wedding here, book it and you won’t regret it!

My wife and I stayed at Borthwick in 2012. We are big fans of all things medieval and when we went to Scotland we decide we needed to stay in a castle. The only problem is that my wife is in a wheel chair ans this is the only castle that we could find that had a guest room on the main floor. The challenge was the that ground floor was at the top of a long but not steep set of 37 stairs. We were able to make it - with a little bit of stubborn resolve and sweat. Once there it was amazing. We stayed for 2 nights and loved it so much. They had a great fire and a whiskey waiting for us when we arrived. The bedroom was large and comfortable with it own on-suite bathroom. The meals were delightful and the ambience unforgettable. We had the place to ourselves as it was the off-season. I explored the entire castle while Linda (my wife) read and relaxed on the ground floor. Highly recommended…

We were very fortunate to be invited to a wedding at the castle and we loved every minute. The castle is local to us but is not open to the public; purely used for events only. The staff were very welcoming and our every need was catered for. We were at the wedding for 12 hours and we thought it would be a long day...how wrong were we?! Our taxi had arrived to take us home before we knew it! The day passed so quickly and I put that down to sheer enjoyment. Drinks flowed freely and the food was out of this world, ranging from canapes to our full meal...all delicious. The castle offered the perfect venue for a fairytale Scottish wedding. We loved every minute.

Had our wedding here and we could not have had a more wonderful experience. Staff was amazing and so helpful. The castle itself is gorgeous and every attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Food was great. Drink was great. I cannot recommend this place enough. We'll definitely be back!

My daughter and her husband chose this as a special place to celebrate their wedding on 8 October. It was a truly wonderful and unique experience from beginning to end. The castle is surprisingly cosy and warm and opulently furnished. Luckily it was a warm and sunny day which meant that we could all gather outside after the ceremony for some “eco friendly” petal throwing. Nothing was left to chance. The whole experience went like clockwork. The Great Hall, where the sumptuous banquet was held, is spectacular and we all felt honoured to be able to celebrate in such a special place. We will always remember this day as a day in a million.

My husband and I celebrated our marriage with family and friends a few weeks ago at Borthwick Castle and it was simply the most incredible day of our lives. We have had so many compliments from our friends stating that it was the best wedding they have ever attended; the castle, the grounds, the food it was everything we dreamt of and more! Amy was simply wonderful, from the first time we spoke on the phone, our two visits to the castle prior and her immaculate wedding planning skills meant the most stress free day and there was very little we needed to arrange in the run up as she had it all under control. I just wish we could relive it all over again. Borthwick castle will remain in our hearts forever and we cannot wait to attend one of their tasting menu events they will hold next year. Families and friends just gathered at the splendid Borthwick Castle to celebrate my son and daughter-in-law's wedding that was supposed to occur July 2020. The staff was totally accommodating- just terrific and the food was gorgeous. The rooms were well appointed; actually luxurious. And the setting couldn't be more magical. We all want to go back for a family reunion. Absolutely lovely.
