This was an exceedingly disappointing stay starting from the moment of arrival. Amid a chaotic scene, there was little information about where to put your car or what to do with your skis and luggage. Eventually someone did come to acknowledge our existance but it was more to get rid of our car than to offer us welcome. There were dozens of carts strewn around with luggage. Upon check in, I found that there were no rooms available so it probably related to this fact. This was at nearly 5 PM---Mind you--check in is at 4 PM. We were carrying all of our luggage after a day of skiing and there was no explanation as to why the room was not available or where we might sit or put our luggage----No offer of a free drink or anything like that----I explained to that it is suprising that rooms were not available after check in. No explanation---I asked to speak with a manager. The clerk left momentarily and returned 5 minutes later telling me no one was available. I explained that I was an elite Mariott member and he left again----Still no manager but when he came back though, all of a sudden we had a room. He gave us a key and told me the manager would call me (he/she never did). The room itself was TINY with a view of the air conditioning condenser.-----2 Queen beds in a surface area that was not much bigger than the bed space. I questioned whether this was a punishment for complaining but later realized all of the rooms were tiny. There was no where to open up a singular suitcase without having to step over it. Not clear to me how a family of 4 with ski equipment would cope(We were only 2). We then went downstairs to look around---The pool and hottub were both tiny as well and stuffed to the gills with kids---No big deal but somethought could be given to making the spa hottub no kids. We enjoyed the skiing over the next two days and I like that they store the skis by the lift. It is not trivial to get up/back to the hotel with skiboots but it is what it is----This is certainly not ski in--ski out. The food everywhere was expensive-----Breakfast was not included-----In the end, if this were a $200-300 a night hotel like the one we stayed at the night prior (and serves as a comparison), I would not care. This is a nearly $1000 a night hotel with the word "Luxury" in the title-----Upon check out, the clerk asked me how are stay was----I told her it was uneven-- She asked a few questions and asked if I minded a phone call from the manager----I never received one. All in all----the manager was brought up 3 times during our stay and not once did I receive a phone call. I suppose that is what passes for a "luxury collection hotel" these days.

Lovely renovated rooms separate bathtub which I really appreciate quick service when you call the front desk. And asst manager Michael helped us out on a customer service issue. He helped us graciously and we were most appreciative. We had a lovely day and we will return. Thank you very much. Good restaurant there too. If there's any room for improvement, it's the need for another hot tub!

While the hotel is pretty, it isn’t a luxury hotel, it’s really more a nice Marriott. We booked a larger room with a fireplace and was told it had a mountain view, but the view was of condos across the way with a bit of mountains above them. The bed was comfy, there was an upscale coffee machine and tea kettle with cups and glasses and an empty, working mini-fridge (yay!). There was housekeeping every day and when they didn’t leave new towels it was easy to find them in the hall. The bathroom was okay - could use some grout cleaning in the shower and the ceiling above the tub had water damage. We had a balcony, though it was shared with the room next door. The fitness room was well equipped. The two Peloton bikes to ride with tennis shoes were always in use (the other two for clip in shoes sat empty). The restaurant was nice. We had breakfast there each morning - a good buffet, but was $45 each (we had vouchers). We didn’t do the afternoon s’mores, but saw that it was a big hit for the kiddos. The pool and hot tub were also a big hit with the kids, but there’s a separate hot tub outside the fitness room that’s mostly adults. The spa was nice, just wasn’t a luxury-hotel-level spa. Nice location, but a bit of a walk with ski gear, so the ski valet was nice to have - they took skis to and from the mountain each day. A quick walk without gear to Lionshead Village and then a bit of a walk, or quick bus ride, to Vail Village (the Intown bus stops right in front of the Hythe). The best part of our stay was the people. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming!

Close to the slopes, easy to get everywhere, and a great place to come back to after a full day skiing. The food is yummy and the breakfast buffet sets you up for the day. There is also a ski valet right in the hotel. Been coming here for several years and will continue to.

I've been coming to Vail for 15 years but it was my first time at the Hythe. Loved the rooms, location and staff. Flor from room service was extremely helpful explaining the menu to me over the phone and super friendly when delivering the order. I will definitely come back!

I completed my check-in seamlessly using the BonVoy mobile application, and to my delight, the room was ready upon our arrival at 3 pm. The receptionist, whose name unfortunately slipped my mind, was delightful and even provided me with an elite breakfast coupon. Renting equipment around the hotel was a breeze, thanks to the exceptional service from the friendly staff. The hotel offers a variety of tastings, including whiskey/Bourbon in the late afternoon, cheese on Thursdays, and traditional s'mores every day. The buffet breakfast at the hotel surpassed expectations. Ana, our dedicated server, made each morning special by remembering our preferred drinks and assisting with custom egg orders. Our room on level 1 lacked a view, but provided a remarkably quiet atmosphere, shielding us from disturbances of people coming and going. The fireplace in the room added to the great feeling. The bed, true to the Marriott standard, was exceptionally comfortable. Conveniently located just a 4-minute walk from the Eagle Bahn Gondola. The SKI Valet was also very useful, getting my equipment next to the gondola and drop it when I am done. The hotel also offers easy access, from the front entrance, to the "in town" bus, facilitating travel to the main Vail Village. The hotel gym's hot tub is very nice and quiet too, the hotel has another hot tub and a warm outside pool. I would like to command Carley from the rental shop at the hotel. When we arrived back on the last day, she offered to help with a smile and to get my personal ski equipment straight to the room. What a service! While the overall experience was outstanding, it's worth noting that the cost was on the higher side, compounded by multiple taxes, including a $60 car valet fee. Despite this, I am unequivocally looking forward toShow less

The ravel is the absolutely best place to hang out in a cozy sweet environment. The staff was very warm and welcoming. Ridvan was great with us, gave us great recommendations and talked about us the great place and it’s story we dinned at. Great selection of wines, food and dessert were all delightful.

This is our third stay at this hotel. The hotel itself; restaurant, lounge, spa, is lovely. We seem to always have some kind of issue with our room, though. This time, it smelled like marijuana when entering. We asked for housekeeping/a fan/humidifier. We were told the hotel was out of humidifiers, then after multiple attempts finally received one which was tiny. An engineer then came to our room when we were out, and it smelled like the room was bombed...such a strong chemical odor it was nauseating. We were offered minimal initially for compensation/change, eventually had to change rooms twice and lost many hours of calls and talking to management at the front desk. We paid a hefty upcharge for a firepit room; the firepit while pretty, put out minimal heat. Not really worth the upgrade. Also, many of the rooms around us had dogs and residents did not clean up after them; there was dog poop all around our balcony and path to the sidewalk. The area is very nice, with a Vail shuttle pickup right at the front door. The ski rental equipment is very conveniently located.

Response from Dante S, Guest Services / Front Office at The Hythe, a Luxury Collection Resort, Vail
Responded 4 Jan 2024
Thank you for choosing The Hythe for your recent stay and for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate your continued loyalty and are truly sorry to hear about the challenges you encountered during your visit. It is disheartening to learn about the unpleasant smell in your room and the inconveniences you faced with the humidifier and subsequent strong chemical odor. This is certainly not the experience we aim to provide, and we sincerely apologize for the disruption it caused to your stay. Your comments about the firepit room and the presence of dog waste around the balcony are noted, and we will address these matters with our team to prevent such issues in the future. We understand the importance of a seamless and enjoyable stay, and it is disappointing to hear that we fell short of your expectations. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we are committed to addressing these issues and improving our services. If your travels bring you back to Vail, we would welcome the opportunity to make amends and provide you with the exceptional experience you deserve. Thank you for your understanding and for bringing these matters to our attention. Warm regards.
