This is the reverse of a travelodge. A unique building which has grown over time. Each room is individual but the rooms with balconies overlooking the sea have views to die for!.
The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are very clean. the bar/restaurant is relaxing and convivial. currently the menu is short but this will qbe rectified when the industry wise staff shortage eases. I recommend the Haggis Pakora, the angry scotsman burger and the fried chicken wrap. The Italian bottled beers are also excellent.
Thanks to the manager as well for the netting over the outdoor terrace which allows you to eat lunch undisturbed by the larcenous seagulls!

We visited the hotel yesterday for lunch. Greeted and served by a young gentleman called Max who was very friendly and welcoming. On giving us the food menus he advised that the hotel was not participating in the government eat out help out scheme until next week as their application hadnt gone through yet, although it is advertised as participating in this scheme! Food was ok but the crusty bread offered with the Cullen skink was cheap plain white bread. We asked for the bill and a rather abrupt, rude female brought it over and without letting us read the bill shoved the card machine in our face. We had earlier heard her being rude to a family who were checking in to the hotel and looking for reception. What a warm welcome she gave...not. Maybe some customer service training would be good for this employee.

Our first time back at the George since it’s refurbishment. We had a lovely bar meal and I just wanted to say how lovely the bar and waiting staff were. When my pal couldn’t make her mind up on a lager she’d never tried before the staff give her a wee taste. It’s wee things like this that go a long way.

Arrived at 1.45pm on Sunday afternoon looking to have lunch for our family of 7, taking note of notice on door that hotel would close at 3pm. Went in front door to find only one table occupied in corner of main room. Two members of staff were at bar. We looked around and moved a couple of tables closure to accommodate our family - only three of us were there the others were following. Female member of staff passed the tables telling us it is bar service. I promptly went to waiting station to collect menus, same person said I will come over and take your order!! I said there are more of us to arrive, the man, who was busying himself at the coffee machine, asked how many to which I replied “7, is that okay?” He responded “yes”. Sat back at table to look at menu. Female again passes us stating “you know we close at 3pm”…at this we felt our custom was not welcome and made our way to the door. The man lifted his head as if looking for a reason to our departure to which I said “we had hoped for a nice family linch but don’t feel very welcome.” He asked what I meant and mentioned that the hotel was closing at 3pm. This hotel used to be full to capacity during the summer season but with attitudes like this it is no wonder the place was empty. I would not recommend hotel due to this experience and lack of customer interest. Their loss as we went to the Ritz Cafe where we enjoyed excellent service with a smile and they benefitted from our purchases.

Visited with family whilst on a day out for some lunch, We were very pleasantly surprised by the prices which were very reasonable. We didn't expect too much for what it cost but when the meals came they were very generous portions and the food was lovely. Staff were all very nice and attentive to our table. We will definitely make a point of visiting again when we are back in Millport.

Nipped in here for a couple of pints on a nice sunny afternoon. Initially we had to wait over 10minutes for our order to be taken - we had to go in remind them we were there then the pints themselves took over twenty minutes to comes so in the end we gave up. Staff were polite and apologetic but waiting over 30minutes for 2 pints was just disappointing.

The manager is an absolute disgrace , wouldn’t speak to my dog like that never mind my customers!. We were on a family charity sponsor cycle/walking day around Millport and decided to nip in here for refreshment afterwards. A member of our party asked how to get out to the garden seating area with his drink and was spoke down to by the manager who replied your not allowed outside it’s illegal with an attitude and head shake. At this point myself and another family member were just waiting at the door to enter at this point he didn’t know we were with the rest but he turned to us an said and what is it a can do for you two in a horrible tone and attitude. At this point he then started arguing with the rest of the family. He then made a point of coming outside an moving a few family members and shutting the outside seating! Let’s remember we are still in covid times and should be encouraging outside drinking where possible. The guy does not have a clue! He has absolutely no good customer service skills. Horrible horrible man, completely baffled as to why such a person would be a manager of a place that has lots of visitors flock to! Running the business into the ground. Reading past reviews and can see a fair share of people who have experienced the exact same from what looks to be the exact same person. AVOID FOLKS!

Tripped on entry to the restaurant. No hazard tape indicating raised threshold. Reported it to a staff member and issue immediately remedied….well done.
The environment has brightened up a bit and table layout better than before.
Staff appear friendly. I ordered fish, chips and peas… sadly the peas were cold, the fish was small and too many chips. Mediocre meal, I have had better elsewhere for £11.95. The Bailey’s cheesecake (£4.95) was served in two bits with aerosol cream (see picture)…presentation not the best! The coffee was the best part of this visit hot and warming.
The restaurant became cold the busier it got as the door to the outside seating area was continually used chilling the internal seating area. I asked if they had a Disabled toilet, the staff member got the key to unlock the door only to inform me that it was out of use!!’
Sadly I will not revisit this establishment.

On a lovely summer day I sat outside and enjoyed 3 crisp pints of Magners and the Angry Scotsman Burger. My experience was 100% in all respects the 2 young chaps serving at the tables worked hard and I had an enjoyable afternoon watching the world go by. The burger was extremely good with chips/slaw/mayo the whole dish was very satisfying. Disappointed to see some of the reviews on here as I have enjoyed every visit and will be back.
