Pleasant house and property. Pretty backyard. Not great location. Satisfactory breakfasts. House really needs an updating. Poorly lit rooms. Ancient television sets. Inadequate housecleaning for multi-night stays. Very musty odor. Innkeeper thrifty to a fault and quite moody. Not around most of time to address any issues that arise. Argumentative to a fault.

I travel quite a lot for work, generally staying in Marriotts, Hiltons etc which are comfortable and efficient but bland. So this time I was looking for something different with a little more character. This guest house certainly provided that: it's a lovely property which put me in mind of an English country home with its library and decor. There...

The Farnam Guest House is a lovely property and very conveniently placed for exploring New Haven and Yale University. Our room was wonderful and beautifully cool on a hot summer's day. The kitchen for guest use and coffee, tea and bottled water available at all times is an excellent facility. But there are just a few details that stand in...

I very much regret we were not quite thorough enough to manage your breakfasts better. We will work harder to finesse these details. Most people seem to really like the soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers. They don't have to fuss with opening those little packages of soaps and twist off the bottle tops! Glad to know your feelings about the...

Had a lovely, restful overnight stay at the Farnam Guest House. It was clean, well-equipped, private, and comfortable. Innkeeper and staff were pleasant and personable. Keyless access (door code), convenient and sufficient available parking, and convenient location.

We had a lovely stay at the Farnam Guest House in New Haven. Was not sure we wanted to stay in one room, so we rented the two bedroom, actually a full size apartment. There was so much for us to enjoy, as the grounds are beautiful, and the patio was completely available to us. Coffee, tea and water was...

My daughter and I were on a fun, east coast, college road trip for spring break. For our visit to Yale, we decided to try and get a better feel for the campus area by staying in the Farnam Guest House rather than a hotel. When we first arrived, we used the code to get in since there was no...

My housekeeper clearly did not understand what you were asking I was taken aback to encounter you in the area that is clearly marked "Employees Only" Since when does a one-night-stay guest at a bed and breakfast expect to do laundry? I explained that someone needing to do laundry would normally make the request before-hand by email, in person, or...

1. Door locked upon arrival, nobody inside the building, needed to call the owner to get a code to open the door 2. Once inside, no key at my name. Apparently they did not have my reservations. 3. After several phone calls, I am sent to a room on the third floor that is not heated, and with a TV...

Yes I can understand how you felt. The Booking.com notification for your reservation went to my spam so I had no knowledge that you would be arriving!!!! (Not my fault really) I was vacationing in Florida and the women in charge in my absence had no idea what to do. Luckily I had a beautiful, king-sized bedroom with bath ensuite...

We just spent an overnight at the Farnam Guest House and was quite impressed by this charming inn. The rooms are spacious (we stayed in the Farnam Room) with lovely furniture and an extra comfy bed with white sheets and a down pillow mattress topper for the bed. The high ceilings in the house add an elegance. Breakfast was simple...

We just came back after spending an extended weekend at Yale and staying at the Farnam Guest House. The house is a beautiful former manor home about a mile north of the campus and directly on the Yale shuttle bus route. It still has its original 1930s charm and character - from the beautiful crown moldings, to the furniture, and...

This is probably one of the most delightful stays I had on my roadtrip-vacation in New England in august 2015. We were welcomed by the owner, at the time of our arrival, where we chcked in and we were then told about the history of the house and previous owners, which is very interesting. The big house is beautifully decorated...

“3rd floor has several sleeping accommodations with private and shared bathrooms. Excellent for a family. 2nd floor has a guest kitchen for all guests to use, also good family accommodations on this floor. Big wide front hall on first floor with wide, beautiful stairway to 2nd floor. I stayed in Whitman Room (2nd floor) which has private bath outside the bedroom. Bedroom light switch is outside door. Stayed New Year's Eve 2015 - cold outside, but plenty of warmth inside throughout house. I have yet to try shared bath accommodations, but viewed all available rooms at owner's request; all are clean, warm in winter and inviting. Most rooms have good natural light.”
