Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

Most exceptional service imaginable
We are walking the Pennine Way North to South and were looking to stay in Dufton but the main B&Bs and Youth Hostel were full. By a very very happy coincidence at my wits end I found Midtown Farmhouse on a "Visit Long Marton" website.

Fortunaetly it seems the proprietor has not done a huge amount of advertising of her bed & breakfast and consequently we were her only guests. The room was huge with a beautiful bathroom.

It's hard to pick the things that stood out on this trip. There was the generous offer to do a small load of washing for us, the fact that Anne had pre reserved us a table at the pub next door (as she doesn't cook an evening meal) and the most deliciously enormous packed lunch (with home made bread). At any other guest house these three things would be the icing on the cake but for us they were just the beginning. Anne was keen to have us away early and so she cooked our breakfast for 0630 and even more amazingly gave us a lift both to and from Dufton (only a short journey but it made all the difference).

Given that we were going to Middleton I am sure that without the early start and the lift back to Dufton our trip would have collapsed in on itself.

As the house is currently for sale if you would like the honour of meeting Mrs Perry than I recommend you book as soon as possible.

Lovely quiet stay
We enjoyed a lovely quiet stay here for a couple of days over Easter. Anne is a lovely host and provides fabulous breakfasts. Walking in the area is great and of course it's not far from Ullswater. The pub next door is ideally located for evening meals after a long day's walking and provides good pub food.

Welcoming stop on the Pennine Way
Anne picked us up after our days walking on the Pennine Way (and dropped us the following morning), she was very welcoming and hospitable. Our en-suite room was large and had a super comfy bed! Good substantial breakfast and packed lunch ready for a long, wet and tough 21 miles to our next stop.....

Lovely B&B - Anne is so kind
Highly recommended. Stayed here for 1 night on route from the south to Inverness. Anne was so hospitable. Rooms were comfy. Home from home. Breakfast was fantastic. We would have liked to have stayed longer.

A gem of a B&B.
We travelled here after a day motorcycle riding around the Yorkshire Dales and experienced a very warm welcome. Anne immediately offered use of her garage and cleared a space for the 2 motorbikes which was a rare bonus. On entering the building, we were greeted to the smell of freshly baking bread in preparation for our breakfast. Our room was the annexe, a converted outbuilding that is very private and lovely and warm after a full day out. There was a very generous amount of free tea, coffee and biscuits, with fresh milk instead of the usual UHT long life. The en-suite bathroom had a great shower and plenty of washing items should you forget anything. The only thing missing was a TV.

At breakfast the next morning, we were offered an array of items to make up our full English breakfast and could have as much of each as we wanted. The food was cooked fresh, was extremely tasty and came, of course, with the lovely bread baked just the night before.

In addition to the delights of the B&B, the pub next door was friendly and offered great food and service. Book before arriving though, as it gets really busy!

A great find and a great pity that Anne is selling up.
