Words can’t really describe this total oasis. Thank you so much for sharing your idyllic getaway with us, we had THE most magical time. It’s got to be one of the most special places in the whole of England.
From the minute we arrived to the minute we left we felt totally pampered and relaxed. Fresh farm eggs, coffee and milk were laid out for our arrival, sunny skies and the cosiest swing chairs to nestle in for an afternoon of watching the sea for seals and dolphins. We saw lots by the way! Gorgeous walks to Noss Mayo and great pub lunch before coming back to soak in the wood fired hot tub under the stars. Words don’t really do this place justice and we cannot thank you enough. We were so well looked after, it was just perfect. We will be coming back every year!!!

We stayed at Camp Sorbet, part of the Carswell Farm Holiday Cottages for the first 2 weeks of August. We had a fantastic time.

Firstly, great communication with Jo who I spoke to on the phone to confirm, then I was sent very clear information about our stay what to expect etc.

We are a family of 5 and I was a bit nervous about putting the children in to their separate caravans from us but they loved them! The field felt very secure, we could lock the gates at night and it's so remote and safe. Amazing to have a whole field to ourselves, we could make as much noise as we wanted and when we needed peace and quiet, we could just listen to the birdsong.

The beds are big, nice bedding and we all slept well. The outside shower/bath always had really lovely hot water. The shed where the kitchen is was big and a good shelter for the family to cook, eat and play games, read books when the weather turned for the worse. Don't be put off by the compost toilet, we'd never used one before but there were no nasty smells and we got used to it very quickly.

Amazing almost 360 degree view of the surrounding area due to the elevated position, what a view of the sea to see each day. We could see the sun rise and sunset each day if the weather allowed it. Great to see the cows coming down the track each day for milking, their figures where quite ghostly in the mist one morning.

The information pack that was provided was excellent, with lots of suggestions of things to do. While there we visited Mothercombe Beach, Stoke Beach, Plymouth Cineworld & Crazy Golf, The Bottling Tap for happy hour, Salcombe beaches and the Winking Prawn for dinner and The Ferry and Victoria Inn for drinks,The Ship for dinner, The Swan & Dolphin for drinks (all Noss Mayo/Newton Ferrers), Pigs Nose in Prawle for lunch and Gara Rock. We did paddleboarding on a calm day on Stoke Beach and kayaking and paddleboarding in Noss Mayo - all best at high tide. Visit to Totnes on market day is a must.

Anything I needed, any issues, advice what to do on a rainy day, I just texted Jo during my stay and she was so helpful and friendly and got back to me straightaway. We met some of the team too Sam was great in the mid stay clean, we had a good old chat with him and interesting to hear stories about the local area.

This was one of the best holidays we've had - amazing freedom, very comfortable accommodation, lots to do and see, lovely people. Thank you Carswell. We will be back!

This cottage is a complete gem! The furnishing has been beautifully done, I found myself photographing everything for inspiration at home. The pièce de resistance however was the bathroom, everything I have ever dreamed of, an amazing view from the bath over fields and woodlands (I even watched the sun set through the trees) a fireplace AND A DAY BED!! Utter heaven!! Downstairs there is a very effective log burner, and a brilliant electric cooker that looks and feels like an Aga, only so much easier. The beautiful coastal walks are right on the doorstep, we walked to Mothecombe and after descending into the famous beach we had a delicious lunch at The School House Restaurant. We will definitely come again and stay longer, there was so much more we could have done and the cottage immediately felt like it was our own home! Well done Carswell Cottages 👏

Just left the lodge, we’ve had an amazing weekend, the lodge is homely, spotlessly clean & eco friendly, the meadow adjoining the lodge is beautiful and perfect for a little dog walk or for children to play safely. The little touches, fresh eggs, milk & dog treats is really touching. A hidden gem tucked away 20 miles from home 💖

Highly recommend

My wife and I stayed in Boundary cottage, it’s described as luxury throughout which it isn’t but it is comfortable ( well apart from the sofa).
Please be aware that this cottage is described on cottages.com as detached, it isn’t and the photos are taken to mislead you. Although when booking through carswell cottages it doesn’t say detached it also doesn’t say it isn’t and with a distant angled photo of the front you can’t really tell. I have added a photo from the front to illustrate.
Also the bathroom could have been much better designed to include a wardrobe instead of a ladder with hangers on it in the bedroom.
The bed was comfortable and the surroundings beautiful and peaceful.
As described the rear garden is a lovely open space and seeing as we had sun nearly every day we sat out most evenings.

Private beach, beautiful views, the sound of the sea, the rocks, plants, birds the sunrises and sunsets were all wonderful. The beach hut has everything you need, the hammock chairs looking out of the window at the sea are fantastic. It was warm and cosy with a lovely bathroom. Cooking facilities are simple but totally adequate. Swimming and playing with the waves was fantastic. Saw seals while swimming. I went home physically and mentally fitter and feeling able to tackle the modern world again.

The Beach Hut is an amazing place to go to just hideaway and relax. It is completely secluded and private. The hot tub looking out on your own beach is brilliant and the hammock chairs inside are perfect for when it rains.

We stayed at Corner Cottage for a few days and we had a fantastic time. The property is just the right balance. Spacious, practical and comfortable without being overly fancy or fussy. Everything works, everything has been thought through, and you can still have a dog in front of the wood burner. Money has been spent on the right things such as comfortable beds, great furniture, and decent kitchen appliances. Milk in the fridge was a nice touch. Exquisitely clean.

We’ve just had a 2 night stay in the beach hut and it was amazing. The hut itself, the stunning location, the facilities…. I cannot find enough positive words to say about this place. Yes it’s difficult to access but that’s also a huge positive as there is no one else for miles around. No mobile phone signal, no internet or WiFi and no TV so it’s a perfect digital detox. Absolutely fabulous in any weather we just relaxed in the hammock chairs and the hot tub and watched the waves crashing against the rocks. A perfect, cosy end to a winters day was to light the log burner, have a mug of hot chocolate and watch the sun go down.

Read the instructions to get the correct lane from the parking. Wellington boots or good walking boots are a must. The Beach Hut is a unique venue which is a fantastic experience. The Hut is cosy, comfy and has enough cooking facilities to manage for a couple of days. We enjoyed beach combing and cleaning, the hot tub is amazing. The team were excellent and looked after us.
