Disney's Polynesian Village Resort enchants guests with its immersive thematic ambiance, drawing praise for its welcoming atmosphere. However, it falls short for some travelers who find the cost prohibitive and not reflective of the overall experience. While the hotel's cleanliness garners positive mentions and its proximity to nearby theme parks is a celebrated feature, guests are divided regarding the rooms and service. The amenities, including the pool areas, are appreciated, yet overcrowding can sometimes detract from the experience. Despite this, the unique Polynesian vibe and convenient location continue to be a draw for many visitors.

We stayed at this hotel for one-night only because we were traveling to Daytona to stay the long weekend with friends. Our goal was to have a little Disney fun without a theme park experience and it was accomplished! We got there on a Thursday morning around 11:30am and our room was available for check-in (which was great to dump off our bags and freshen up after a long flight). Our kids (ages 5 & 8) thoroughly enjoyed the pool areas - both the water playground and the slide... it kept them busy the entire afternoon. My only wish was that there were better food options. However, we are pretty traditional eaters and don't branch out much, so some of the themed food was not appealing to my family. We ordered Flipper's Pizza for delivery that evening which was very yummy! The best part of the stay was that you have a tremendous view of the Magic Kingdom nightly fireworks over the lagoon!

This is a review from someone who has never stayed at this resort but has resort hopped:
Omg this place is GORGEOUS and I love the vibe. This is the resort to go to get Moana & Stitch merchandise. The restaurants are very nice, everything here is beautiful. Be prepared for metal detectors & possibly being searched when you leave. That was new.

The Polynesian Resort at WDW has been on my bucket list for several years and after the remodel, it was time to take the grandkids. We booked two adjoining rooms and had 4 and 6 year old boys as part of our party. The rooms are exceptionally spacious and the storage areas are plentiful, particularly under bed suitcase storage. The check in process was quick, the grounds are very well maintained, and the rooms were well prepared and clean when we arrived. We were in a Water View level room, 2nd floor, Samoa Building. Excellent location as you are close to pools, beach, and the Great Ceremonial House with all the food and shops. Worth the upgrade price!

Housekeeping was good. They missed our room once but came back immediately when we called and cleaned it. They will not clean or enter if you are in the room so keep that in mind for the afternoon nap period. Pools were clean and lifeguards were always present. Chairs were a little short sometimes but we were always able to find some to move together. Splash pad area for very young ones was an excellent addition.

Front desk staff were very knowledgeable and able to help us with some Dining Plan issues and recommendations for a 2nd character meal for the grandkids. We never had difficulty locating a parking spot although they were sometimes a short walk of 200 yards.

Overall, a great experience and worth the dollars. I occasionally see where guests expect a 5 star experience for the amount of money - it is not a 5 star experience - it is Disney! You are paying for the convenience, theming, and resort experience. Our only "complaint" (other than having to leave and go back to work!) was that the steamers in the room simply do not work as well as irons for pressing clothes.

We were really looking forward to celebrating my granddaughter’s birthday at Disney, and I specifically chose the Polynesian Resort for its prime location and status as a deluxe hotel. However, our experience did not meet our expectations, especially given the premium price.

When we arrived, we were told our room wouldn’t be ready until after 3 p.m., which was frustrating as we had plans for later in the day. I also found it disappointing that there was no greeting upon arrival, and we had to search for someone to assist us. A staff member, who was sitting and chatting with others, had leis available for guests, but we had to wait quite some time before my granddaughter could receive hers.

As for the room itself, the noise was unbearable. We were consistently woken up at 5 a.m. by loud stomping and disruptions, which continued into the night. The noise wasn’t just limited to the morning—at night, the sounds of running footsteps, doors slamming, and even loud conversations from the room above us persisted well into the evening. We could hear every flush of the toilet, and during one shower, I overheard the guests next door discussing personal family issues. It felt like we were staying in a poorly soundproofed motel, rather than a deluxe resort. The constant noise left us exhausted, especially after long days at the parks.

Given the price we paid (over $9,000 for 4 nights, 4 adults, 1 toddler, and 2 rooms), this level of discomfort was unacceptable.

In terms of dining, we were disappointed with the quality of food at the sit-down restaurant. The sushi was comparable to supermarket-quality, and the sandwich we ordered was unappetizing. We left most of our food uneaten. The one bright spot was 'Ohana'—the food was good, and our waitress was delightful.

Transportation was generally easy, but not as efficient as other resorts I’ve stayed at. Overall, I’d recommend considering a moderate hotel for a more pleasant experience. The constant noise—both day and night—along with the lack of hospitality and subpar dining, made the stay far less enjoyable than we had hoped. As I’m writing this, we’ve been up since 5 a.m. listening to the guests above us running around, flushing toilets, and having loud arguments. It honestly feels more like a motel than a luxury resort.

This hotel has the unique distinction of being both the most expensive and worst. Hotel experiences. First, we weee placed in a room next to where the monorail runs. I figured that it was only going to run during park. Hours, but it ran ALL night long. I don’t sleep at all the 2 nights we were there. The walls are very thin and there was a room nearby that had children that were up and screaming until after midnight. I asked for a room change and was told that I would have to check out st 11;00 and leave my bags at the bell hop and tiger check back in after 3:00, which basically takes away the whole purpose of staying two nights and was extremely inconvenient. After getting out of bed try first night I noticed blood stains on the sheets. The lobby is nice, but the buildings that contain the rooms are dumpy and gross. We needed additional pillows, etc., for the pullout bed and some.additional personal hygiene items we forgot. They told us they would be delivered in 1/2 hour and it was over and hour and half of what I requested was not there and the housekeeping person then proceeded to argue with me that they didn’t tell her to bring the additional items. This is no where near a luxury resort and I would not stay again or ever recommend anyone to stay here, especially at the prices they charge.

This is one of the first detailed reviews I’ve ever written, but I am hoping this helps somebody. We’ve been going to the Polynesian for a long time, first when we were kids and now as adults with our own kids. The last time was four years ago and the experience was still mostly positive. That basically ended on our trip last week. Although the basic theming is still there, any sense of “Disney magic” is now gone. Not just at the hotel but also in the parks. Everything now is almost robotic with any of the nice things now gone. At first, Disney claimed some things were “pandemic related” but that’s no longer an excuse. It used to be that when you walked into any Disney deluxe hotel there were people there to greet and welcome you. That’s all gone. We stayed in the Moorea building and noticed several areas in disrepair. The room itself was fine although we were placed too close to the ferry terminal and had to listen to the loud horn until after midnight every night.

Because we stayed in a DVC room we “rented” they apparently don’t offer housekeeping – we only were able to get the room made up once during our 10-night stay which was not acceptable given the extreme cost. Also meant no nice towel animals the housekeeping staff used to make that we loved seeing after a long day in the parks.

We looked forward to an Ohana dinner, only to find they no longer bring out the different meats on long skewers, now they just dump the meal on the table and leave. Another experience ruined.

From no characters in the hotel at all, to overcrowding at the pools and extreme pricing we will never visit Disney again until something drastic changes.
There are more unfortunate examples of this – will give one more. One of our normal highlights is dinner at Cinderella’s castle. As soon as you head in there is normally pictures setup with Cinderella. No more, at least not for us. What used to be a special event for my daughters was just a rushed dinner as they tried to squeeze more reservations in. Barely got photos with the princesses during dinner.
The key rides like Tron and Rise of the Resistance are incredible but not enough to overcome blatant disregard for resort guests or any level of customer appreciation or support.

Construction starts right outside your room slightly before 7am. The shaking, rattling, saw cutting, and worker conversation is a great feature! The best feature was management's apathetic attitude towards hard working families paying $1k/night. Especially after spending $1k to go to the Halloween party the night before. We returned from the party at 11pm only to have my young children startled by smashing, rattling, and cutting as the saw horse was 10' from our window. Dealing with cranky kids, who weren't able to get enough sleep, at Disney is a blast! Nice or the management to offer us $300 off of our $8k vacation at a "deluxe resort." I would have rather slept in our rental car in the parking lot. We've spent well over $100,000 at Disney over the past decade and we get a "sorry, they need to get the tower done to stay on schedule." Our travel agent was told that construction was to start after 9:00am by TWO separate Disney reps on the phone. The hotel denied it and said Florida state law allows them to start at 7:00am. Great way to treat guests. Disney has lost its appreciation for customers and only cares about the bottom line. They take their customers for granted. It shows in their actions. Dump.

This was our families first trip to Disney world, and our kids’ first-ever Disney experience, was supposed to be magical, but unfortunately, it was far from that. We splurged to book a room with a view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks, hoping for an unforgettable experience. However, from the moment we checked in, everything went downhill.

We were assigned a room on the first floor next to the elevators with absolutely no view magic kingdom. In fact, even the massive fireworks display was blocked by palm trees and bushes. This was not the experience we paid thousands of dollars for, and understandably, we were frustrated. When we asked if we could be moved to a room with the view we paid for or at least receive a discount for the limited view, we were told we could only move rooms the following morning. So, we had to wake up our children and pack up our room to completely check out before 8am. We almost missed our first fast pass.

We were assured that our new room would be ready by noon, after we checked out and spent the day at the park. However, when we called every hour, we were met with the same response—our room wasn’t ready. We returned to the resort at 4 PM (which is general check in time), exhausted and with a very cranky toddler who had missed his nap. We were told the room still wasn’t ready. At this point, we had no choice but to sit in the lobby for over an hour while our children cried from exhaustion, which was incredibly stressful.

On top of all this, the staff mismanaged our Instacart order, sending us on a wild goose chase to track it down.

Overall, the customer service was disappointing, especially considering Disney’s reputation for helping families. Every time we asked a question, we were met with the same response "I don't know, you should ask someone else". While there was plenty of staff, they seemed under trained and overworked.

Overall, the room was tiny, the staff unhelpful, and the experience felt more like a money grab than a family-friendly vacation. For the amount we paid, we would have been better off staying offsite or at a moderately priced hotel. I would not recommend staying at this resort again.

This was our first family trip (with it being a first trip for 3 out of 4 of us) to Disney World, so we chose to stay in the club level of what is supposed to be a top tier resort. We chose the Polynesian Village Resort due to the reputation for excellence and proximity to the Magic Kingdom (we have toddlers under the age of 4).

The Good: The resort is very relaxing, very clean, and very different from anything considered typical Disney. We ate at Ohana and Kona Cafe. Ohana was surprisingly good for an all you can eat family style restaurant, albeit a bit expensive for what you get. Kona Cafe was just... ok. I would recommend getting sushi or nothing to avoid disappointment. The pool area is very nice, but that is expected at a resort based on the islands of the South Pacific.

The Bad: Club level was not worth the money, unless you are drinking cases of soda a day or plenty of cordials in the evening. The espresso/latte machine was broken our entire stay, and based on videos I have seen on Youtube, it has been broken for several months now. As a result, we had to wait in line for espresso style coffee at other shops causing us to lose time in the parks. HINT: Don't get coffee at the resort. There is always a line.

The club level food was average at breakfast with fresh fruit being the best option for the whole family. Dinner/afternoon snacks were not terrible but definitely not amazing, with tuna sashimi being a highlight and hamburger spring rolls being subpar to those found in the park. In addition, the staff, while polite and very friendly, was not able to assist with dining reservations outside of what can be found on the Disney Dining app. Finally, there is no bell service preference given to club level guests (we called to request assistance and were told we could get service 10 minutes after our ride was scheduled to pick us up).

The Ugly: The club level building elevator needs maintenance badly. The door pinched and scraped the top of my toddlers finger because it no longer telescopes properly when opening and closing. The monorail was constantly delayed or swapped out due to service problems, resulting in longer waits outside in the Florida heat. Furthermore, the entire monorail staff was almost always in a bad mood and often seemed close to losing their patience.

Overall, the trip was a success only because my children had so much fun meeting all the characters and loved the outdoor areas so much. I would not recommend staying at this resort for off the rack prices, and definitely would not recommend paying for club level. Stay at another resort and visit the Polynesian Village for drinks or a meal.

A fantastic retreat at Disney World. My family favorite, we’ve been coming here for years and each visit exceeds the last. Newly reimagined, the entire resort has received a refreshing look and the rooms are bright and fun with little Moana touches infused into the decor. The onsite dining is among the best at Disney and Trader Sam’s is a gem for an enchanted bar experience. The two pools here are well maintained and the lava pool will keep families entertained daily with trivia, music, games and activities. The quiet pool is a lovely retreat when you prefer a laid back afternoon. The music throughout the resort sets the mood, with impeccable landscaping to make you feel like you’re in Hawaii. For those that want an elevated experience, the club level rooms are worth the amenities in the club lounge. What we love about the resort are the friendly cast members, the beach, views of the nightly fireworks and castle and monorail access. We will continue to visit this resort and highly recommend for all ages.

The noise of the ferry boats can start as early as 6:30 a.m. The closer you get to the ferry landing the louder it will be (haha obviously). We have only stayed in the Morea building on the lake view side, which is the closest lodging to the ferry landing. We could hear it, but it wasn’t too terribly loud. It does sound twice (once incoming and then outgoing) about every 20 or 30 minutes. The last time we stayed there we took a tiny noise machine (Babelio on Amazon for $20) and when in use we couldn’t hear a thing in the hall or outside. With the noise machine and the blackout curtains clipped shut with the hangers from the closet, we slept until 9am! In general, hallway noise isn’t too bad any time of day. FWIW, I think the Club Level rooms are at the opposite end of the resort, so there’s that.
