Our favorite "close to home" RV park. Large, level sites...most are waterfront, and if not, they have a great view of Lake Lanier; nice clean bathouses; grass is cut, and campsites are cleaned after every use. My only complaint...they close the park too early; this year they are closing 10/23...just when good camping season begins. We've camped here all summer...

We went to Old Federal day park - right beside the campground. Very clean and plenty of space to spread out. 3 sandy beaches and lots of wooden benches to sit on. Boat ramp for boaters. Bath house was extremely clean - very important. Sunset was spectacular.

The entrance person treats paying customers as if she OWNS the place and that staying there is a privilege that she alone grants. As a taxpaying citizen, this leaves a not-so-nice feeling toward the gate of a publicly-owned property.

We tried to visit the day use area about a year or two ago. There are no pets allowed in the day use area; however, at the time, the sign was hidden by a tree. The staff followed us to the parking area AFTER we paid to let us know, then REFUSED to give us a refund for an honest...

It's a shame that the staff and absurd rules make this beautiful campground absolutely unbearable. My husband tried to go to work Friday morning and was locked in and the staff wouldn't unlock the gates until 7am. Sounds like False Imprisonment to me. The staff at check-in were rude and unhelpful. The park attendants were Nazis driving by constantly and...

Nice campground with great views of Lake Lanier. Roads are well paved which makes it easy to maneuver into sites, most sites are easy to access. Only complaint is the locked gate which closes around 10pm and doesn't open till 8am, there is no code. Would especially like to be able to leave earlier and get through Atlanta.

Very friendly campground host great you. Beautiful place with some of the nicest campsites I have ever stayed at. Little chilly in April but with a fire it's not to bad. Can't wait to see what the rest of lake is like. Excited to plan future trips.

Old federal campground is 45 minutes outside of Atlanta. Very beautiful spot to relax and enjoy beautiful views and company. Campground staff is very polite and very knowledgeable of surrounding areas. I would visit this facility more often did to View, relaxation, and good company.

You can get nice lake views from other campgrounds without the hassles of this place. On check-in we were told that we can’t have our golf cart since it isn’t tagged. In GA you don’t tag a golf cart. Our out of state family did have license tags for theirs & were still told their carts weren’t allowed. But the...

“Sites 13-17 face the sunset and are not as steep. So I have to recommend them over the other tent sites. Sites 7-9 are nice and face the sunrise over the lake and are much steeper grade (except the pads themselves, all of which are leveled).”
