Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were there for the bank holiday weekend and have been before. It's a lovely site and the owners are much better than previous ones however the facilities desperately need updating and maybe another toilet/shower block putting in at the bottom end of the field. Also as in covid restrictions people were camped all over the middle field no specific pitches as no EHU in the centre field and opens fires in quite a few areas even though we were told at check in that only BBQ was allowed. We didnt see the owners after we checked in until we left. Another criticism would be the chemical disposal unit next to the washing up area stinks!! And the whole weekend we were there I did not see anyone clean the toilets or empty the sanitary bins in the toilets only someone putting more toilet rolls in. We will return as it's close to home for a quick few nights away but if we didnt have a caravan with us (my friends, we have a tent) I doubt I would bother even though the site itself is beautiful with large EHU pitches.

We stayed at the campsite for two nights. The field and site are huge and the site was busy. It’s a lovely spot by the river with access to the pub which serves good food. However, the toilets are awful, toilet seats hanging off the hinges and I don’t think they have been cleaned in months. The paint is peeling off the walls and the floors were dirty. the showers were okay and water was hot but the place needs a good clean - no cleaning products available. I always take my own detail wipes, so I felt okay. Lots of complaining women in the showers/toilets too, saying that the site was great but the facilities let it down..

It’s very cheap so I suppose you get what you pay for !

That said, everyone friendly and chatty and a good location for Gloucester and Tewksbury.

Stayed here for a couple of nights. Was a bit wary following previous reviews but don’t be put off by them. New owners since March are trying hard to turn things around. Yes the shower block is a bit dated but the pressure and temp are great and they are doing their best to improve things - painting the washing up area and toilets and I believe new flooring going into the toilet block which will make a big difference. A few seasonals but still plenty of room. Lovely & peaceful, beautiful walks on your doorstep with a pub overlooking the river too, what more could you want?

Stayed for a period of 3 nights. Excellent location. The campsite was clean, spacious and well looked after. Beautiful views all around and easy access for lovely walks. The pub served great food with nice views over looking the river. The Chelt river also runs around the outskirts for those who enjoy angling and lovely countryside walks. Toilets and showers were clean and respected social distancing very well. The showers were lovely and warm and are open 24 hours. You can also fish by the beach to the left of the pub for an amazing £5. BARGAIN!

Would like to say a massive thankyou to Debbie and the other man. (Apologies never got your name in the end). They looked after us very well and made us feel very welcome during our stay. It was lovely chatting to you both and I will definitely be returning very soon!

My family and I spent 2 days here , found the park very pretty, flowers everywhere, freshly painted and decorated facilities, so much cleaner than they were last year, very friendly and helpful new managers that are trying to turn around the image. Great little shop, hot showers, plenty of walks, right beside of the river, so peaceful, lots of nature even an otter today, a friendly lady told me about it the day before and there it was. Will definately return again without wondering how good our stay will be, it is much better than before. Now comes very recommended.

Two night stay here in our camper van while visiting relatives nearby. Great little campsite, very friendly welcome and there's also a great pub which serves tasty food. Plenty of Covid-19 safety in place here too which is obviously a factor these days! Cons - loos are a bit old, some don't flush well and the age makes them look grubby although they had obviously been regularly cleaned. The electric hookups are on high poles (flood risk, I assume) so if you are short like me you need to take someone tall or a step to stand on. Overall, a great experience and we will be visiting again in the future.

The site is large andbeatiful but there very major problems. The toilet block is disgustingly dirty and shabby. The shower tiles are cracked and some of the shower blocks are out of use. The access ramps are steep.
Tbese items pale i to insignificance because of the lack of wheelchair ♿ accessible cubicles. My wife is a disabled wheelchair user. She requies help in a toilet. I had to make uf the ladies lavatory to help her.
When we got to the cubicle it was so small that we were unable to close the door let alone get a wheelchair in. This was a point of embarrassment
for both of us and could have led to much worse if there had been children in the toilet.
The elsan emtying point got blocked and there was a liquid flow from it during the night. This had not been dealt with by the time we left. The sit is served by a septic tank which constantly smells.
The resident managers do their best but do not seem to be supported by the owner.

Avoid the site until the toilets ts smells and sewage are sorted.

New lovely owners, ignore any previous diabolical reviews! Proper lush site, next to a great pub (which is always a bonus), just off the main road (ish), yet still in the Gloucestershire countryside. There is a curfew for possibly over exuberant post lockdown volume after a certain time (not a clue when, sorry, it was dark?), but I was kindly informed by the kind owner with the patience of a saint that it was perfectly fine to stay up all night as long as we were quiet. Great campsite, great owners, lifesaver for camping when everything else is fully booked!

We had plenty of space to pitch up. We had a lovely meal at the pub. I can recommend the beef pie. View of the river was lovely. A lot of people have complained about the toilets and showers ..they are tired and could do with updating but were clean and functional so not an issue for us and the site was good value. Friendly staff. Great that it was dog friendly too.

The pub ( Red Lion ) is owned by The Chamberlain Family. The camping is a totally separate entity owned by a private individual! I have asked at the pub! 😃
