Detailed Reviews
I’ve stayed at the cottages 3 times now, twice in 2022 and once in 2019.
These cottages are truly excellent. The location is superb, you’re up in the hills with a lovely view of surrounding hills, fields and the river Clyde (also Loch Lomond on your right). There are highland cows around the cottages 90%’of the time which really adds something, you can walk up the hills behind the cottages to loch Humphrey if you fancy a little trek!
On the other hand, the cottages are near Kilpatrick station - a 20 minute walk down and you can hop on the train to Glasgow and to Edinburgh from there (I’m a Celtic fan living in England so this is a great way to go see my team).
Inside the cottages, the view is just as superb. I’ve stayed in ‘Auchentoshan’ and ‘Glenmorangie’ and both are immaculately decorated in a modern, yet cosy style! They are also extremely well equipped with kitchen items (plates, pans, utensils etc), towels, dishwasher, shampoo and shower gel, wood for the fire, storage space - everything! There’s even laundry facilities and DVD’s/board games to choose from as well as leaflets on local attractions. They’re dog friendly!
You’re also a 10 minute drive from Dumbarton which has several supermarkets and fuel stations. There’s a small shop in the village and a couple of pubs.
They even give you a welcome hamper with some basic supplies (and a drop of whiskey if that’s your kind of thing)
I can’t recommend them highly enough!

My husband and I stayed in Glengoyne cottage for five days over Hogmanay, leaving in early January 2024 and we loved it! Thank you for a fantastic stay!
The cottage is cosy and comfortable with everything you need provided. The kitchen was especially well equipped: we had roast potatoes with two of the meals and there was even a tray suitable for roasting them.
The location is excellent, with Old Kilpatrick a short walk away and the station in Old Kilpatrick meaning that you can also go on day trips to nearby places. We went to Balloch for the day to visit Loch Lomond on one day, and even though we can't drive, the cottage location meant that we still had plenty of options for days out.
The walk up to Loch Humphrey, ( the path for which is just behind the cottage), is beautiful and we were even lucky enough to get some snow!
I would highly recommend staying here! Lots of information is provided about local pubs and walks and we can't wait to come back. We especially loved the log burning fire!

This wasn't our first trip to the stunning Gavinburn Cottages and we will definitely be back.... again!!
On this occasion we stayed in the Glenlivet having resided in the Macallan on previous visits, both are equally fantastic in their quality of furnishings and finish.
The surroundings and views are stunning no matter what time of the year we have visited. Having enjoyed time here in both the summer and winter periods, the cottages lend themselves to a drink on the patio during a sunny evening, or cozy night on the couch by the stove when the temperature dictates.
The location is ideal for travelling around the west of Scotland, with Loch Lomond only 15 mins away by car and Glasgow City Centre easily accessible by car or by train from Old Kilpatrick. The purpose of our recent stay in August was to relax, we spent our time exploring the hillside conveniently located on the doorstep of the cottages. They are also extremely handy for the Forth & Clyde Canal footpath where we walked to the Bowling Basin.
Finally the Scottish inspired welcome hamper which was waiting for us on our arrival was a great touch and thoroughly enjoyed by my partner who was new to Scotland during our first visit. As others have commented both Alex and Leigh-Ann were a brilliant during our stay, although we had no issues they were easily contactable and had a great knowledge of the surroundings areas. I have to apologise for not submitting a review a lot sooner!! Many thanks to both of you for your hospitality.

Just back from a week staying in The Macallan cottage at Gavinburn, what a perfect holiday location. The best equipped self catering cottage we have ever stayed in, every detail thought of, comfortable and so cosy in the autumn evenings with the log burner fire on looking out over the twinkling lights below.
Location is perfect, hill walking on your doorstep with fantastic views. Also so close to country parks, canal, the ferries to the inner Clyde islands, Loch Lomond and some excellent restaurants, a special mention for Monadh Kitchen in Bearsden, Michelin rated food, great service and exceptional value!
Our host Alex kept us informed at all times and was excellent in dealing with a brief wifi issue, great service.
Don’t hesitate in booking Gavinburn Cottages, they live up to everything they promise and we have no doubt we are coming back soon.

We have stayed in many cottages throughout the UK an I can say without doubt this was the best for many reasons. There are 5 cottages and we stayed in the Auchentoshan, a three-bedroom cottage that sleeps up to six people. It was Christmas and the owner decorated the living room for us complete with a tree. Bedrooms and bathrooms were fantastic. Everything was supplied including a useful welcome pack. Great location to explore that part of Scotland. Definitely recommend.

+1
We stayed in the Glenmorangie cottage for a week and it was a very relaxing stay. The cottage was exceptionally clean and well stocked with everything you could need. The hosts were great and answered any questions we had as well as giving us tips on where to visit. The cottage is well situated for walking and the walk to Loch Humphrey is stunning. We stayed there with our dog and it was very dog friendly too. Would highly highly recommend the cottage and we will definitely return.

What an absolutely gorgeous cottage over looking the River Clyde. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and very comfortable and such good value
It is well placed to visit the other islands. On your doorstep are some great walks.
Alex was so great to deal with and nothing was too much bother.
Book these cottages before they get snapped up.
What a beautiful place Scotland is and the people are the friendliest

We are just home for our stay at Gavinburn cottages, we stayed in the AUCHENTOSHAN which was stunning. The cottage was spotless and equipped with everything , it’s the best equipped accommodation we have ever stayed in . The walks and views were beautiful and the owner Alex was always at hand if needed (which we didn’t as everything was perfect) we will be booking again for Easter .

I’ve stayed in many Scottish holiday cottages: Glenmorangie is up there with the best.
Beautifully furnished - the massive bed was extremely comfortable - exceptionally well equipped, and generously centrally heated with the added fun of a small but highly effective woodburning stove. The welcome hamper outstripped by a large margin anything I have previously experienced.
And all of this in a fantastic hillside setting with stunning views of the Clyde and its estuary.
I’ll be back.

It's a fantastic place to spend your holiday in Scotland. We stayed in the Glenmorangie which provides everything you need to have a comfortable stay. The beds are so comfortable, the welcome basket offers enough food to get you going and the shower is fantastic. Not to forget the impressive view and the very nice hosts.

Many thanks for your enquiry. The Auchentoshan has a bathroom downstairs and a shower room upstairs. We have parking for 4 vehicles for the Auchentoshan. Theres spaces for 10 vehicles but it depends on the occupancy of the other cottages if more than four spaces would be available. Please email us if you have anymore queries.
Kind regards
