The hotel Rigel, built in the 60's, is situated on one of the most important islands of Venice. Its importance and uniqueness are due to being the only one facing the Adriatic Sea on one side and on the other the basin of St. Mark's, just before the historical Square of St.Mark's, centre of the ancient Republic of Venice. Another characteristic that makes it unique, compared to all other islands of the Lagoon, is the possibility to reach it by car, avoiding problems and costs of car-parking either in Mestre (mainland) or at the Tronchetto (car-park). The hotel has 42 rooms on three floors connected by lift. The rooms nearly all have classical-style furnishings, are luminous, some with a small balcony and all with bathroom, shower, air conditioning, telephone with direct outside line, satellite TV, and a wireless internet connection. There is an internet point in the Hall. The Buffet breakfast is open from 7,00 to 10,00 a.M. In the breakfast room on the ground floor, while the restaurant is only open for organised groups. The hotel bar is open 24 hours a day.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had a standard single room. The room was clean and tidy with a Juliette balcony which was nice. Despite being at the front of the hotel my room was very quiet. Nice shower and bathroom. The air conditioning didn't seem to do a great deal which wasn't a problem when I stayed but might be a problem in the hotter months.

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel stored my cases prior to check-in and on departure. The hotel wasn't that busy. The breakfast was standard continental with a good selection of juices and a bean to cup coffee machine. There was a nice little terrace too if the weather allowed.

This hotel is a short walk (about 5 minutes) from the vaporetto (venice's water bus which is a great way to get around) dock. There are lots of bars and restaurants within a short walk. The hotel is down a side street so is nice and quiet. I have to say it was a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of central Venice. I never got to the beach so not sure how long that would take. The vaporetto to Castello (the end closest the lido) took about 10 minutes and I never had to wait long for one. It's about 50 minutes to the train station but its an incredible trip.

I booked this hotel not long before my actual visit as I was trying to avoid a strike by French air-traffic control. I stayed two nights and travelled mid-week. I paid about £60 a night which I thought was excellent value given its location.

I would definitely stay again.

Clean room. Great selection for breakfast, fast wi-fi connection, helpful reception staff, clean room with a good-sized bathroom. very good location, just a short distance away from Lido S.M.E waterbus station with easy access to plenty of local restaurants, cafés and gelaterias, but also located in a quiet, residential area, with no disturbance at night. nice lobby space to relax in.

After reading some of the reviews I was a little apprehensive! I did not need to be, from the check in to the check out the staff were very friendly! The breakfast staff especially polite and inviting. The breakfast was continental with plenty of fruit and yogurts , large selection of cereals- with freshly made coffee if needed. There was also scrambled eggs, hot dog sausages and boiled eggs too. At one point I saw some guest making up some ham and cheese rolls and again staff very accommodating by providing food bags for you to do this! croissants were amazing!!

The room (we were in room 214) and the hotel very classic and incredibly authentic! Some people say dated and old but it wasn’t - it was traditionally Italian and you knew you were there not some cold over modern hotel. The room had its own thermostat so you could have it hot or cool depending on your own needs! The bathroom was modern and the cleaners assured the room was spotless every day!

The water taxis were very frequent to the main island and we visited Murano and Burano too!

The island of Lido itself is quiet and less impressive than the rest for this time of the year but hotel was fantastic with the cheapest spritz at 3.50 euro per drink!!!!

We had 7 nights here and I would 100% recommend. Thank you for making our visit special

This hotel is a bit like stepping back in time which we found quite charming. The staff is friendly, and the rooms suited our needs. We had a small balcony which was nice for sitting outside and having drinks. The room was clean with good space. The continental breakfast was nice each morning, and the staff will offer you fresh coffee from the bar. The breakfast area is very busy if it’s too cold to sit outside on the terrace so allow extra time if you want to sit inside as space is limited.

We enjoyed staying here as it was an easy walk to get the boat to go elsewhere and quiet overall. The soundproofing isn’t great so be mindful of your noise levels late at night for neighbors. That’s really the only complaint I could have - everything else was nice if you’re looking to stay in Lido.

Hotel is very outdated, no space for anything. The closets are so nasty that you don’t want to put your clothes.
AC is very loud, but if you switch it off at night it’s too hot.
Poor soundproofing.
The last straw was a breakfast: we had to wait in line for 20 min, one poor girl was exhaustedly put food that people point out, not enough tables, poor waiter was running around the tables like crazy bringing coffee to people and cleaning the tables.

Good afternoon, we are so sorry you did not appreciate the hotel and its service. Unfortunately last period was a very particular and difficult one but finally we magaged to open the hotel even if in shortage of staff Every day we do our best to accomodate all the requests of our guests with a smile in our face but probably it is not enough. We also make some annual renovation work during the winter season so we will take a note from your review to improve the AC sistem. We thanks for your review and i hope your next stay in Venice will be better. Best regards Selina

Very unhappy with the place. Even though October it was very hot & the manager would not put the air on, even though it was an advertised feature. The hotel itself was in need of tlc, very faded & a bit run down.

Excellent and very friendly customer service, especially at reception desk. Fantastic place to stay with breakfasts in the cosy garden patio. Hotel located in quiet street with swift access to central vaporetto station and fantastic restaurants upon canal. Bike renting option with very good price for all day. Clean and equipped rooms at very good price.

My stay was nice .
Room looked clean with daily house keeping.

Staff was informative and kind.

Breakfast was in a lovely courtyard or inside.

Unfortunately, on the last night I realised that there was ants coming from the scurrying boards .
lots of bugs. Especially coming through wall.
If can request a room with out this issue . Was left a mop with ‘ant poison ‘ but by morning we’re back again.
Morning was given a refund for the night as I could not leave that late .

Won’t be back but very much enjoyed my stay up until the last night .

Nice quite area but still very close to Venice centre to get away from the busy streets .
