We got married here in April 2022. We're vegetarian and have gluten free & vegan guests so we partly chose The Ravenswood for their extensive food menu and we were not disappointed. The food on our day was delicious. We were concerned reading reviews on here that the hotel rooms might not be good and that the beds might not be comfy, but none of our guests had any complaints, and we asked them for honest feedback. The honeymoon suite was excellent, great water pressure in shower and beautiful views to wake up to in the morning. My step-Dad is disabled and he said the shower room in the disabled room was well laid out and he felt very safe using the facilities. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, a gorgeous dropback for our wedding photos. Our coordinator Katie was so efficient, friendly and attentive. Our only minor negative was that I got a little stressed in the getting ready room because there wasn't a clock in there, but I've given this feedback to Katie and she said she would order one right away! We used JPC events DJ and they were fantastic too - they were great at observing the dance floor to work out which songs would keep our party going!

Wedding event was excellent staff friendly and quality and quantity of food great Beautiful grounds for wedding photos and outside space especially for a summer wedding.
BUT our room 10 a twin bedded room had a motorised unit outside which drummed away all night resulting in hardly any sleep .On arrival I picked up cup from the hospitality tray - first cup had lipstick stain and 2nd cup was completely stuck to saucer and teaspoon stuck to tray (reception apologised and it was changed immediately)
Room was tired and in need of updating…..hopefully this is something the venue will address in the future.
Otherwise a good time was had by all !!!!

Nice hotel in the middle of nowhere. Mainly catering for weddings. No restaurant or bar which I felt wasn’t made clear on their website. Closest pub/place to eat is 1.8 miles away (£15 each way by taxi) which is ok if you are aware of it. No snacks or anything to eat available at the hotel itself. No actual bar but the friendly receptionist takes your order for drinks and appears to go to the drink store to get them and you can drink them in the reception area. Unusual but ok. Breakfast basic but fine. Rooms clean and bathroom was spotless with lovely hot water. On the whole I imagine as a wedding venue it is lovely but it wasn’t the usual type of hotel. Receptionist on the evening shift was really lovely and helpful and the morning receptionist was also very pleasant.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a lovely review. We are delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you found our staff lovely and helpful. We are also happy that your room was spotless and that you had a comfortable nights stay with us. We are really sorry that you didn't realise that the venue had no bar or restaurant in the evening, we do display this information on our website and it is printed on our terms & conditions. There are a few local restaurants a short drive away and a couple of take-away companies that deliver to us. We are a Wedding Venue and on non wedding days we provide a bed and breakfast service to guests. We do hope that you come back and stay with us again in the future.

We a family of 3 travelled from Plymouth (29th) to attend a wedding on the 30th.
The day before we had to stay at the Premier Inn as the Ravenswood said they couldn’t allow us to stay until the day of the Wedding so we had to book into The Premier Inn in East Grinstead for the 29th, for a family room (x1 double & x1 single with ensuit) and breakfast was £62. The rooms were Covid cleaned daily, everything was fresh and spotless and the breakfast was unlimited and amazing. The staff were great.

We had to get ready for the at the Premier inn before check out (12:00pm) because the Ravenswood wouldn’t allow us to check in until close to 5pm on the wedding day (30th) (after speeches) which was quite shocking considering for a family room for one night was £151!!! If we had been travelling from Plymouth that day we would not of been able to get ready for the wedding.

On finally being able to check in at 5pm we made our way to put room with our bags to be faced with a hallway full of used plates, cups, dirty tissues and linens. We entered the room and it was grimy and gross.

Considering the building was shut down for Lockdown you’d think they would take the time to freshen up the rooms as well as deep clean!. I could write my name in dust on the desk, mixer taps and toilet cistern.
The bathroom had mouldy and worn sealer, the bath panel was broken and just looked drab.

On making our way back down to the wedding rooms which seem to be the only place time and money has been spent because these areas were lovely and beautiful and kept to a high standard, the bannister, window ledge and carpet were also thick with dust. Another family member also noticed used condoms on the grass close to where we were stood outside.

A far cry from the Premier inns with its Covid clean rooms.
Breakfast was good and on par with the premier inn but for £151 a night for a filthy dated room we were only allowed to use between 5pm to 11am (checkout) the next day just wasn’t worth the money.

The building is beautiful but they let themselves down on the hotel side.
I would rather of spent another £63 at the Premier inn for a clean room and taxi across and save some money for more drinks!

For the money this place charges you would expect clean and tidy as a basic requirement.
After having a lockdown period without visitors this place could and should be at its highest standard.

I’d happily attend an event there but wouldn’t stay again.

I didn't read the reviews before booking a room and I wish I had because they were not good, cold (lucky I asked for an extra duvet) and small for a double room. I would expect this size in the city but not for something outside in the country. The curtains were thin so light was streaming through, not great in the summer and the bathroom fan stayed on the ENTIRE night. They do not seemed to have heard of bleach because the toilet could have used some, the only redeeming thing about the room was that the water pressure was excellent with lots of hot water otherwise this place would have got a lesser rating. The breakfast buffet had a choice of hot and cold food, the cold food was not bad with quite a bit of choice but the hot food was meagre pickings. I only ate the hash brown and beans as they did not have any fried eggs, only scrambled which I dislike and I do not eat red meat so the sausages and bacon was off limits to me (not their fault). Don't think they have many vegans because the mushrooms were cooked in butter (I'm not vegan, just pointing this out). If you have kids, they can forget about WIFI because it is practically non existent, you get connected and then you have to continually reconnect to it and you do not always get to reconnect to it either. The grounds were lovely, the venue was freezing and the staff were friendly and helpful but good staff does not make a pleasant sleep, especially when they have a very early check out of 10.30.

Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback following your stay with us. We are pleased you liked our venue, but are sorry to hear about your room experience with us. We have done a big refurbishment project to our bedrooms this year and the last handful of rooms will be completed later this year. Most of our guests enjoy our hot breakfast buffet options, but I am sorry to hear it wasn't to your liking. We also do specially cater for all dietary requirements and would happily plate up a lovely vegan breakfast for anybody. We hope to be able to welcome you back for future events and that you will experience our lovely newly decorated rooms. Best wishes, Tony Tijhuis General Manager

It was a lovely location and hotel for a Wedding and although the power had gone down it did not disrupt the celebrations at all as they used their own generator. The staff were very attentive and the meal very good. However, the drinks were very expensive at the bar.
I stayed in an 'accessible room' and although the beds were a very good height, clean and comfortable, the shower enclosure was not suitable for a disabled person.
Toilet and sink were ok but I didn't attempt to get in the shower as I may not have been able to get out. It was a sunken shower with a step down into it of at least 6 inches. The controls were too high up and there was a half screen enclosure on 2 sides, maybe suitable if there was a carer with the disabled person to assist them, but even then it would have been difficult for someone in a wheelchair to transfer onto a small stool, if you could get a wheelchair in there! Was totally unsuitable for any person with mobility problems too.
This room was not cheap and I would have liked to have had a shower that I could use. I may as well had a normal room. If I had being staying there longer than one night it would have been totally unsuitable, especially for a person alone.

Was a great wedding and the staff couldnt have done more. The wedding food was really lovely and plentiful. Couldnt fault the Ceremony or food.
But disappointed that even though the wedding wasn't until 2pm we couldnt check in beforehand. Room was clean and tidy but tired looking. Although there was drinking glasses with the tea/coffee facilities in the room there was no bottled water provided in the room and no biscuits either. Given the price of the room I would have expected these basic things. Bed was very comfortable, 4 poster but no curtains on it! The room was too hot at times. A good size room but didn't think it was worth paying £155 for.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay. We are delighted that you enjoyed the wedding, the ceremony, the food and that our staff couldn't have done more for you and I will pass your comments about the wedding food begin lovely and plentiful over to our chefs. We are unable to offer an earlier check in time as we have to prepare the venue for the days wedding. We are a wedding venue rather than a hotel and our venue is closed until 1 hour before the ceremony is due to start, at which point our bar opens for Reception Drinks. An earlier check time can be arranged in advance but can only be arranged through the couple getting married. I have passed your comments over to the Accommodations Manager with regards to your suggestion for additional complimentary items in the room. They will take your suggestions into account. We hope to welcome you back to stay with us again in the future.

Beautiful wedding venue. They are having to learn their way again since lockdown ended, so there were a few minor issues, which should be ironed out as the wedding season progresses. Guests can walk around the grounds and use the terraces as well as the indoor venue. The wedding breakfast was excellent. A lovely salmon starter, followed by a chicken dish with fresh vegetables and dauphinoise potato. Dessert was delicious combination of mini desserts.
Book -in for rooms is from 3pm, which is after the wedding so guests have to arrive in their wedding finery. There is no facility for guests to change on arrival. This can be an issue, especially as on the day we were there,it was very hot. My husband had developed a migraine on the journey to the venue so the receptionist very kindly agreed to us booking in early so he could lay down. The room was fairly standard; en-suite shower room, large bed, tea & coffee making facilities.
Staff were very helpful and kind. It is fairly expensive for the stay. Drinks from the bar were fairly pricey.

The wedding of my sister i cannot fault! It was amazing and the food was delicious! However the bedroom was freezing, tired looking and small i would not have expected this after paying £125! The breakfast was nearly all cold and we arrived when it had just started at 8.30 (breakfast was 8-10am), coffee machine was intermittent. Asked for fresh scrambled eggs as they were sat out cold and not looking nice, none came. I had 2 slices of cold bacon, 1 warm sausage and 1 hard "warm" hash brown with some mushrooms. My other daughter stayed at the premier inn and in comparison for the £86 they paid was a joke!. Wont be staying here next year when my daughter gets married.

Stayed here when one of my friends got married last month and the venue itself is beautiful. Amenities are good, breakfast was good, and the staff were super helpful. I would say it's a little dated, would be nice to have a wider range of toiletries supplied (only a body wash and shampoo are provided, but would be nice to have a moisturizer) and the cleanliness could be improved a little as there were some cobwebs in my room. Some better air conditioning would be great - the wedding was on the hottest day of the year, and it still felt like we were melting. The bedroom was like a sauna; fans were provided but in all honesty they didn't do much. Also would say they need to fix their fire alarm system - didn't much appreciate being evacuated at 2am for a false alarm! Apparently this was the second time it happened in as many weeks. Otherwise a lovely stay.
