Really clean rooms, comfortable bed, powerful shower, great full English breakfast (cooked fresh, with choice made night before), lovely grounds, reasonably priced bar downstairs and lastly fantastic customer service. Will deffo stay again as I have family in the area. Thanks!!

A very clean and comfortable hotel. Jeff was welcoming and helpful to us strangers to the area. There was a good choice of breakfast options and good coffee. The bar is very reasonably priced and serves local beer. There is a beautiful function room also. Will definitely use again next time we are up that way.

I was booked in to a room but my circumstances changed so I had to request a cancellation and a refund. It took a whole month to finally cancel my booking and after messaging the owner who had zero customer service skills, I eventually got my refund. The owner's messages were very rude, making me sound stupid for asking which bank details he needed for my refund. I just wanted to make sure I sent over the right info. I messaged after 2 days of sending him my details asking if he'd sent the money yet because it wasn't showing in my bank. He messaged back saying he'd transferred the money this morning but there was a "clearance policy". It just so happened after I messaged about the money, I checked my bank and it was there, which means he clearly didn't send it this morning and only sent it after I'd messaged. Really disappointed with my experience and will not be booking with them again, which is a shame because the building looks lovely.…

Hi Patsy I am really sorry to read about your experience, it is very unusual for us to receive this kind of feedback and we are usually complimented on our customer service so I am unsure what has gone wrong on this occasion. Our cancellation policy is flexible and when booking on the website directly we can issue an immediate refund and likewise for booking dot com. I can only assume you booked direct and on this occasion there must have been a delay in refunding your payment. It is unusual for us to have to refund in this manner and possibly why this took so long, as we have a business account it can sometimes take a little longer and a usual personal account. It's hard to write a review when previous visitors have already expressed all the very best things about The Whitehouse. So I'm just going to endorse what so many other satisfied visitors have said. I used to go to the Whitehouse as a child and as a teen for discos when it was a community centre, so I was very curious to see what had been done to the place. I was not disappointed. It still looks the same from the outside, except much cleaner and whiter. The grounds are well maintained and the inside is fab! It was fresh, clean, really well looked after and the staff were very friendly. I had a really good cooked breakfast too and all in all it was great value for money and I will definitely be going back again.

Just stayed here for 2 nights , the staff are very friendly and can’t do enough for you , the rooms are beautiful and clean . The bed was really comfortable. Lovely breakfast too . It’s a great hotel for a function , beautiful room to have it in . We would definitely recommend it .

We booked the White House to host our wedding ceremony and reception. The nine rooms were all booked out by guests. Every single person has said the venue was stunning. The rooms were well equipped, comfy and quiet. The decor of the rooms was lovely and bright. Breakfast can be in the dining area or in bed which was a nice touch on our wedding morning. Freshly cooked too! The beds were super comfy. We were in the bridal suite which is one of the biggest rooms with a fridge and table area. Plenty of room for brides/bridesmaids etc getting ready. The grounds of the hotel are stunning and perfect for photos after the wedding. The buffet was all done by Adele and there was not a single complaint either. Drinks are well priced with a massive selection. The function room is beautiful, Adele really goes out of her way to create the vision you ask for. The function room hosted our wedding ceremony and while we were getting photographs, they reorganised the room to have all the tables and dancefloor space ready for us. It was just as stunning on the evening. DJ was also fab. There is just nothing to fault with this place and such a good edition to the area. Hopefully it gets more and more interest and becomes THEE wedding venue of the North East. …

We attended a christening party at the hotel on 22nd April and had a fantastic time, The hotel is spotless, staff are very very friendly and welcoming. The buffet was first class and plenty of choice throughout the day. Drinks prices were very reasonably priced unlike some hotels where they rip you off. We stayed in the car park overnight in our motorhome and we were allowed to plug in to the hotel which was very kind. Brother in law and sister in law were staying in the hotel and showed us their room which was immaculate and they reported was very comfortable.
