We had a very nice couple of days here while attending a wedding in Lewes. The whole experience was good value for money and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The bar was traditional, the food typical very good value pub grub. The rooms were small and a little shabby, but clean and more than adequate.

I would stay here again.

We are staying locally for business and the Blacksmith Arms was 2 minutes down the road. It is a bit of a 'spit and sawdust' pub, but the staff are ever so friendly and couldnt do enough for us. The food is also amazing beautifully cooked, nicley presented and some nice vegan options. It is very well priced so really good vakue for money! Well worth a visit for the food and friendly staff...

Travelled all the way from Australia and arrived on the Sunday night only to be greeted by the owner who seemed to be more interested in reading his papers than asking us if we had a good trip or if we were okay. We felt as if we were disturbing him from whatever he was doing and when we spoke to him alll we got were one word answers. The pub was nice as were the rooms but I thought the bathroom lacked a little, for example a hook to hang your towel would have been good. According to the locals if we had started talking about classic cars then Nigel would have more cooperative and would have talked the ears off us. Met his wife(she was actually working hard doing the rooms) and she was very pleasant. The location was excellant for us as we needed to be close to East Hoathley. Sorry Nigel but you were the only negative thing about the pub.

Fabulous couple of nights spent here. A lot of care has been taken by the new owners (end of 2022 I understand) in styling and equipping the rooms, which are comfortable with good showers. The food is excellent, good home cooked classic food, prepared and served really well. Very difficult to fault and at very fair prices. Good to have a continental breakfast included but with a very reasonably priced cooked menu available too. Very dog friendly, with the dogs welcome throughout. Owners and staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, and efficient. Overall a great stay and I would be back there instantly if I need to be in the area.

Very welcoming landlord and landlady + Chelsea - room was comfortable, very clean and suited us whilst visiting family, locally. Our dog was also made very welcome and could join us for a very nice continental breakfast each morning in the bar area. We appreciated that what we ordered drink wise etc was remembered for the following mornings. Very easy access via the residents entrance to the carpark, which was most convenient. Hoping to stay again.

We were passing by from Eastbourne and saw the sign for all day food served so called in after passing several places that had stopped serving.
Really comfortable and relaxing atmosphere and we were made so welcome by everyone.
We ordered the delicious burgers which were amazing, WoW !! we recommend them highly and it will be difficult to chose anything else but these as they were soooo good !
We will definately call in again as we had a enjoyable few hours in a great pub with great compony.
Thank you so much for such warm hospitality especially at these difficult times the whole country is experiencing.
See you soon xx

Stop at the pub for a spot of lunch. They had on the menu sausage and mash with vegetables but as we were vegetarian, I got up and asked if they had this meal in a veggie and the young lady behind the bar told me to wait a min and she went away and came back and yes we could do that for you. How good was that. It was bloody delicious.

Emma and Gary were such friendly, helpful and welcoming hosts; they and Emma's daughter Chelsea made me feel very welcome. I had a really comfortable stay in a newly refurbished room. Also a very thoughtful pack-up breakfast as I had to be away early on one of the mornings. My dinner in the pub was generous and fitted the bill exactly. I hope to return again!

Visited the Blacksmith Arms for the first time since Emma and Gary have taken the reins.
The food was fabulous, potions generous and service was always with a smile by the lovely Chelsea. Highly recommended the smothered Chicken...delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and very welcoming. Range of beers and ales superb. Will definitely be visiting again and again.
