Stayed here for a 2 night spa weekend to make up for a missed holiday due to Covid. Overall the stay was lovely. The Spa is really of a high standard and they managed with covid guidelines very well. People were well spaced out but I didn’t feel my spa experience was compromised at all. The treatments were of a great standard, I would really recommend a facial - it’s one of the best I’ve had. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly yet professional. PPE was worn correctly throughout and we really appreciated this. Dinner both nights was good and they were accommodating with my veggie requirements. I guess since the Spa is so lovely and modern it does highlight that the main entrance to the hotel and the rooms feel perhaps like an update/refurb would be ideal. And I’m sure that in time the hotel may have plans to refurb these areas. Although this a tiny point only! The locality is perfect. Wye Valley or Malvern Hills makes for such lovely walking and exploring. Tewkesbury is a lovely local town. Overall the hotel is charming and I would thoroughly recommend!! Having stayed in some very expensive 5* spa hotels in the past I really think Hatherley compares on par and represents such good value. …
Booked the Rural Retreat spa break and paid extra for Superior room. Spa treatment was lovely, one of the best I’ve had. Pool, jacuzzi area lovely with well spaced out comfortable loungers. All COVID precautions taken. Dinner was ok as was breakfast, but nothing special. Hotel is lovely with many features , just a shame with current rules that you can’t sit and chat with other visitors in the lounge for instance. My only feedback is on the Superior room, which in hindsight I wouldn’t have paid extra for. It looks lovely and yes the bathroom and walk in shower gorgeous, but the promised filter coffee and cafe du monde tea wasn’t provided, the mattress was very hard and the pillows were as hard as bricks. The room has underfloor heating which can’t be turned off at night and so we were uncomfortably hot and couldn’t sleep (added to the hard pillows!) and so eventually I had to partially open the patio door to let cool air in. I definitely recommend the hotel and spa, but won’t return because of not having a good nights sleep.…
We book the Executive Room rate with access to the SPA. The room was spacious and the shower in the same was amazing. The only downside with the room is that it advertised as a Garden View room, but unfortunately is not, , has an ugly view of the rooftop. A visit to the SPA should be a must-do if you go to the Hotel, hence advisable to book a room with SPA access. We have also dinner in the hotel, the quality of the food was amazing. Another customer made a reference to the Lamb dish in the Mains, that we order, and it was totally delicious. Rates include breakfast, quality of the same was average (Full English Breakfast)
My wife and I had spa treatments and afternoon tea which was excellent. The staff were great and really helpful, a lovely pleasant and relaxing experience. We will be looking to visit again in the future.
My boyfriend surprised me in March for my 21st birthday with an overnight stay here with breakfast and spa access included using a Wowcher voucher. It was originally booked for April but unfortunately due to Covid it was postponed, we decided to booked it for this month on 7th which is today. The contact with the manor regarding booking the breakfast, dinner and spa access was terrible. After phone calls and emails my boyfriend finally got through on a phone call to a staff member I think reception who arranged the breakfast, dinner and spa access times (this was due to covid so it runs smoothly and ensure social distancing). On the phone he was told that he would receive a call back from the spa regarding booking a treatment I wanted... we never received a call back or an email. I emailed them regarding getting a treatment booked in, this took 8 days of constant back and fourth emails of different people asking for information I had already given them in previous emails which could be seen from the email thread. I was already annoyed and frustrated with them because of all of the unnecessary hassle they caused. As England is now in lockdown again we were unable to go to the manor again. We had no contact from the hotel themselves regarding the booking except the spa emailed me about my spa treatment being cancelled. But no contact to me or my partner regarding the overnight stay, we knew it was cancelled but we had no contact regarding refund or moving the actual date. Which I received an email this morning saying they won’t extend the booking and move it to a different date for a second time and we would have to request a refund from Wowcher. They postponed it the first time so what makes the second time different? It’s the same circumstances... I have not been happy with their service at all throughout our contact and I haven’t even been there at all but from this experience I won’t book with them again in future and once Wowcher process our refund we will be using the money on an overnight stay elsewhere…
