Along the shore of Agios Ioannis and the waves of the Agean, next to the sea and below the plane trees of Pelion, I continue to do what my parents, Giannis and Marika Rigopoulou started fiftyseven years ago with the opening of the former Anesis hotel, The offering of our hospitality. More friends than customers, from all over the world, they enjoy with us the special climate of Pelion, the sounds of the open sea, the alternations of the sunlight, the fragrances and the colours throughout the four seasons. With experience on our side, we support, encourage and enjoy with them the exploration of the forest and the near villages or the relaxation at the beach. All day long, the cafe in our verandah under the soft shadow of our grape tree, along with the limitless view, bring about the sensation of the old times...

Detailed Reviews
Is it the view? Is it the cleanliness? Is the friendliness by the owners and the staff?
It is a combination of generosity by people and by nature.
The location of the hotel, the veranda, the sea sometimes calm and inviting, sometimes wavy and loud, the unpredictability of the weather, all these factors create a superb stay at this hotel. Full view of the sea.
Oh! Breakfast on the veranda tastes great.

I wish I could stay more days 🍉Super clean, super friendly, beautiful location! It seems to be more in your home rather than to a hotel. Just in the center of the village you can visit everything on foot. The view from the terrace to the sea makes you feel calm, creating a serenity in the atmosphere. Definitely, will visit next year!

Trip Advisor reviews helped us choose this family owned and run small hotel and indeed , this was a good choice. Located just a few metres away from a fine beach (if there is no wind) with crystal clear waters, a genuine welcome from the owner (Miltiades), mamma home made local sweets and jam, a fine breakfast, what else can one ask for. Room was simple but very clean (surprisingly used toiletries from the previous guest were still in the room), with a great sea view. A perfect destination for relaxation and trips around this magnificent thickly forested mountain, however make sure you have enough money with you as well as fuel in the car since there are no banks, no ATM's or petrol stations near by. At less than a kilometre there is another great beach (Papanero) on the right, as well as Plakias on the left, but this is hardly accessible on a tiny dangerous walkway, plus regretfully lots of garbage and filth around at such a wonderful place. For food I would recommend next door kebab house Empirikos, fish tavern Poseidon, and the bar behind the little ancient church called Paralos, also with beach umbrellas and the charming owner/manager Ms. Niki, equally hospitable as everybody in this area.
This was indeed a perfect holiday, people are very friendly, this hotel is famous for its personal service, a whole library of reading books was available. My only negative comment was the annoying noise made by the air extractor of next door kebab house. Anesis hotel is a perfect choice, for a perfect holiday, run by perfect people.

Family run hotel, great service, excellent location a few steps from Agios Ioannis beach and a lot of restos and bars, with lovely cafe area overlooking the sea. Clean, comfortable rooms with AC and TV for very good value.

+1
Had a really good time at Anesis Hotel. We stayed for 6 nigths at the end of August.
The location of the hotel is fantastic, right on the beach. The seaview rooms are really worthy.
The hotel is a small family business, kept really clean and traditional. Rooms are not big, bathrooms are quite small, but although furnishings are not new, they are clean.
In the room we had air-conditioning, fridge, wardrobe, Tv(but only with Greek channels), phone, tea making facilities, balcony with sea-view, shower-gel, shampoo, toilet paper, hot water all the time, towels, clean sheets and blankets. Towels and bed-sheets were changed every 3 days. Room was cleaned daily. WiFi is free (ask for the password), but only worked in the balcony(2nd floor) and in the reception area. Beds are a bit too hard, but we placed a blanket under the sheets and it was better. There is no hair-dryer, so bring your own.
Breakfast is served at table, not buffet. In the continental pre-paid you will receive: fresh Orange juice, bread, butter, honey, home-made fruit jams, a few slices of yellow cheese and ham, cake, fruits and sometimes traditional Greek yogurt. For drinks, you can choose between hot chocolate, coffee (different kinds), black tea or hot milk. If you prefer a cooked breakfast, there are omlets and other specialities available at extra cost and it's better to order on the spot, than to go for the prepaid. We liked the prepaid version as we prefer a cold and sweet breakfast.
The hosts, Mr. Rigopoulos and his family are really nice persons. He greated us from the start, offered to move his car as for us to park, helped us carry our luggage, adviced us on road ways and what to visit, or where to buy good olive oil. We were also offered free welcoming and leaving drinks.
The beach is nice, right in front of the hotel, with small pebbles and waves depending on the weather. The sea is clear with spectacular blue water. There are also 2 other beaches accessible by foot, Plaka and Papa Nero.
Agios Ioannis is a small resort, but bigger than many others in the area of Pelion. At nights all restaurants are filled up and colorful and you can have a walk by the sea-side, have an icecream, or shop until 11 or even 12 at night.
The area of Pelion is really nice. If you come by car, stop for one night before, at Meteora, and visit the monasteries at dusk and at dawn next morning. Then, in the area, visit Volos harbour and shops, then keep the road towards south until the end of Pelion peninsula, and return by Milopotamos beach. Scenery is amazing. Makrinitsa, a small town above Volos, is also a must visit, but try not to eat there, but better in Volos, or in Agios Ioannis.
Conclusions: really good quality-price ratio for the hotel accomodation and services offered, and we enjoyed ourselves both in the hotel and in the area.

The family running the hotel is overwhelmingly nice and hospitable.
Our room was clean and quite spacious.
Tip: Enjoy the sea view from the terrace while drinking your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.

This was our second visit to Agios Ioannis and to the Hotel Anesis, Miltos and his family are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The location is excellent, just across the road for a morning swim and back to their lovely terrace for breakfast. Our rooms were very quiet, the balcony faces the sea and very protected/private from the next door balcony. Thoroughly recommend this hotel and will stay there again on the next visit to Agios Ioannis.

Nice hotel. Great location - right on the waterfront, to the beach less than a hundred meters, nearby is the cheapest supermarket. However, slightly shabby furniture. But worse than the other is very weak Internet. To our room I1 wifi did not reach. Although in the reservation from the Booking.com was clearly written - Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. I have no other claims to the hotel and the staff, to which, in addition to the receptionist and maid, in fact belongs the owner - he is constantly present at the hotel.

Άνεση has a range of meanings, including comfort, ease, geniality, and relaxation. The Anesis Hotel offers all of these. It is a calm place; what music there is is quiet and well-chosen. The breakfasts were copious and tasty, the wine was excellent, and the beer the best I have tasted in Greece.
