Brought my mother here for a birthday celebration and we both adored it. Beautiful, tasteful interiors, bedrooms just amazing. Attention to detail, impeccable staff. Could not fault it at all. You can lunch at Dumfries House cafe and have dinner at Woodlands Restaurant which is part of the estate. Had the most beautiful meal at Woodlands. Estate grounds are lovely...

Along with many others we used these overnight facilities for the weekend of the wedding we attended at Dumfries House. The rooms have been restored to high standards, the breakfast was excellent and we particularly enjoyed strolls in The Dumfries Estate. Having everything in one venue made for a relaxed, enjoyable and memorable experience. The local staff also do a...

We stayed here on a Saturday night after a birthday dinner in Dumfries House. The lodge is a wonderful b&b with a variety of room styles. Staff were friendly and very obliging. We loved the whole laid back country house atmosphere. Everywhere in the lodge was warm and cozy in a Scottish November. Our bedroom was roomy with a big,...

Came with a friend for the amazing firework display with supper in the main house. Fab room 2 - although twin beds would have been better, but super comfy bed and pillows. Room was very stylish in period design and furniture. Bottles of water, tea coffee, shortbread in room. Loved the hot water bottle touch but not required - shower...

The Dumfries House estate is a must-see when visiting this part of Scotland, and staying at the Lodge makes a memorable visit even more complete. My wife and I stayed in Room 3, which has a 4-poster bed and one of the largest bathrooms we have ever had in any of our travels. The rooms at the Lodge are all...

The other reviewers who have given 5 stars have said almost all there is to say about this wonderful place. It wasn't fully booked so we were given an accessible room at the rear of the building extension, ground level access with parking in front of the door and an extremely quiet setting. The room was huge with a 2-part...

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I had watched a TV program on the restoration of the walled garden at Dumfries House. Intrigued I googled and found the Lodge. It seemed a perfect place to stop on a car journey from Heathrow to Inverness. Great room, nice staff and a great location.

We stayed in Room 3, lovely, spacious, comfortable. We also saw Room 4, delightful and even more space than ours. A wonderful experience, and for me the key was that it is not 'overdone' if that makes sense. It really does feel like home. It is a B&B, so no fridge in the room, but fresh milk was provided in...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Dumfries House Lodge was officially opened by HRH The Duke of Rothesay, Prince Charles on 4th April 2012. Sitting on the edge of 2,000 acres of the Dumfries House estate and only a few hundred metres from Dumfries House itself, Dumfries House Lodge is an exclusive country Guest House offering luxury accommodation. Built in 1750 and in use a few years prior to the completion of Dumfries House, the ‘Garden Cottage’ as it was known in the 18th century, became the Factor’s house and remained so for over 200 years. We encourage our guests to think of their stay as a home-from-home and to make good use of our facilities during their stay. ... more   less
