I absolutely love this place. A wonderfully remote, peaceful lovely place. This is our 2nd visit and we have booked again for later in the year. We stay in the caravan which has everything we need. Check in time and procedure was made very clear both times (through Airbnb and through text) - we arrived very early to avoid traffic and just went up the hill to the beautiful area of the Roaches. We love that we’re just left to it at the caravan but the owners are there if needed and I have found both of them approachable and friendly. We needed one small thing this time and it was sorted within minutes. I love that we are totally away from the madness of the world and phone& internet. You don’t have to go far to find 3G though, and 4G is just up the hill. I feel relaxed and at peace within minutes of being there. Plenty of walking and climbing in the area. It’s down a long track which means no traffic noise which adds to the peace of it all. Some of the bad reviews I have read here shock me but seem to be from people who want arrangements changed just for them. If you want a quiet get away in a beautiful area and are happy to be left alone I would highly highly recommend this place. My sons are avid climbers and this has become our number 1 choice for accommodation in the area. Thank you Darren and Lorna for another fantastic break! See you soon!

This was our second time visiting, this time around obviously Covid 19 was still around but guidelines were relaxed. The views are beautiful, the location beautiful, the lane is a typical rural country lane very bumpy but if driven slowly it’s okay. There was no washing up liquid in the hut so we were unable to wash dishes, a quick text message to Lorna and she happily dropped some off to us at the door step. Lorna was happy to help in regards to ordering a take away (birthday treat) when we finally settled down to watch some telly after being in the hot tub, it wouldn’t switch on, when we finally got it on there was no volume, again sent a quick text message to Lorna to explain and her and her partner came to us with a different tv. Only thing I would like to say we weren’t happy with was there was nothing to light the log burner with when we approached Lorna they had nothing not even a lighter, next thing we know Lorna is switching the radiator on for us by the side of the fridge. We didn’t stop for breakfast as we had plans early the next day.

We arrived 20 minutes early due to having to cancel a planned stop on route because of the terrible weather conditions. On arrival we looked for a check in point which we could not see. We could see our booked accommodation so made our way over to it looking for the reception on our way. We then stood looking vacant near the accommodation hoping someone would point us in the right direction on checking in. Within a few minutes a door opened and a woman came out who actually turned out to be the owner of the property. She said “can i help you” i started walking towards the women to explain that we had a 2 night booking. She then said “stop there, don't come any closer” I must have been at least 4 metre away from her. Obviously we have a pandemic situation at the moment so i was well aware of social distancing. I apologised for being early and explained that we did plan to stop at Carsington waters on our way but due to the weather we didn’t stop which had led to us arriving 20 minutes early. She replied “you're lucky the gate was open because you shouldn't have arrived until 4.00 pm” Once again i apologise. Rather than getting the welcome we expected it felt like we were actually being told off. She then said walk over there and pointed in the direction of our accommodation so we started walking, I tried to make conversation on the way but she said “keep walking and stand over there” She obviously didn’t want to make conversation and made us feel really uncomfortable. When we got to the accommodation she once again said don’t come any closer and stand over there while I show you how to use the hot tub. She showed us how to operate it and said if you want to know anything else read the information on the walls then she left us. After about 1 hour we tried to turn toTV on but unfortunately it wouldn’t turn on. My wife looked around the walls at all the rules and messages and found the owners contact number. We text her as she told us to text her if we needed her to explain that we had tried to turn the TV on at the wall and tried to turn it on with the remote control but it wouldn’t turn on. She text back saying turn the TV on at the wall and then use the remote, she had obviously not taken in that i had already told her we had done that. So we had to text her again saying we had tried that but still the TV wouldn’t turn on. She replied saying well i’m out at the moment and that she would come around and see if she could resolve it when she gets back. But if she did come around we would have to leave to hut so she could come in and then they would have to anti bacteria the accommodation. She came back and asked us to leave the accommodation while she came in with who i assume was her partner. She gave the hut a couple of puffs with an aerosol can while the partner sorted the TV out and we stood outside in the rain. We let the log burner go out for the night but then in the morning we had nothing to light another one with. I went to the car and scraped up a few bits of paper which allowed us to luckily light the fire again. Over the course of the day we ran out of wood for the log burner but felt we couldn't approach the owner again because of her attitude so we went cold and couldn't wait to leave the hut the following morning. We found the owner unapproachable and totally unhelpful. I got the impression the owner is very happy taking your money but isn’t happy offering any advice/guidance or help. In fact i don’t think she even wants to see you again after she has told you the does and the dont’s. We felt really uncomfortable from the moment we met her and just couldn’t wait to leave. Looking at some of the previous reviews the owner will have an answer for everything but this is how we found it to be.

Just off the beaten track and just what we needed. In a picturesque setting, with a warm and friendly welcome we relaxed in a cosy room with gorgeous views. Amazing breakfast with great hosts. We will definitely return! Thank you Lorna and Darren.

Spent last weekend at hens cloud cottage B and B and could not wish for a better stay, we were in the Rose suite lovely and clean and beautifully decorated, stunning views from the conservatory while we had a great breakfast, yes the drive was a little bumpy but if you take your time it is no problem at all. Would certainly stay again soon
