Recently returned from a long weekend 11-14th Sept. Good size pitches; grass could of done with a cut. Great soft play and play park for the children. Unfortunately the shower/toilet block had not been cleaned from Friday to Sunday late afternoon until we had to report to reception. With COVID-19 the toilets and showers need regular cleaning even more so than normal. The shower cubicles do not drain well so they flood into the sink area, drains need to be looked at. Only 2 toilets and 3 showers in both male and female blocks which isn’t a lot for the park. Would recommend if the toilets were regularly cleaned.

Site well maintained and very children/family orientated.
Staff very friendly and helpful and the pitches were of a good size.
We stayed here as part of a south of England road tour in our camper van, and this was by far the most expensive site we stayed on, combined with the most basic of facilities provided. Although they were clean and well maintained, the facilities were very basic for the price.
We bought the %20 discount card for the cafe only to find that it closed at 5pm so the opportunity to take advantage of this was somewhat limited.
Wifi was very limited and restricted to within a few meters of reception
Located very close to main rail line at a point where the intercity trains seemed to sound their horn as they went passed. The trains seem to start very early in the morning which was a big impact on our tranquility

Fairwood lakes holiday park is a lovely place to camp. Electric hookups in between each pitch and the grounds were clean. Lovely fishing lakes on site which is one of the main reasons for booking the site. However with the current situation with COVID-19, we wanted to be sure the showers and toilet block are cleaned more often than usual and with a phone call we were assured they were. We setup camp and started to enjoy a well earned break. After a couple of days we began to realise the cleaning of the toilet/shower area wasn't being cleaned as thoroughly as it should be. There was no hand sanitizer in these area's either. Soap and toilet roll frequently kept running out. But there was a hero in the end, the after hours warden couldn't do enough for us and others on the site. A huge thank you to her.

We initially booked for 4 days over the Easter weekend but then Covid happened. Needless to say our break away was cancelled. We had paid in full and to be honest did expect a refund as it was £138 for 4 nights in our caravan. Nope no such luck, the company refused point blank only offering to move the holiday to a another date or a credit until a date was decided upon. As we lived a long way from the site we had a choice to make, lose the money or pay extra to stay for a week.
The site was very pretty, but with only 3 showers and 2 toilets to accommodate 20 hard standing caravan pitches, 4 treehouses and the general public from the café and children’s soft play area I imagine it would be very busy with extremely long waits in high season.
The day we arrived we assumed the loud music coming from the outside speakers was for a party in the children’s soft play area that the local public use. Nope, the loud music is played all day every day from 9 am until 4pm when the café closed. We did ask one day if they could turn the music down and they turned it off which was lovely and peaceful until the following day when it started again at 9am. On asking why they played the music so loud the answer was “ to create an atmosphere for the play area”. Mmmm, not too sure about that as the last few days we were there it was raining, there were very few caravans on site, 3 more I think and the music was still playing loudly.

We didn’t use the café so can’t comment on the quality. The walk around the lake was very nice. The children’s play area looked good for children. That’s all there was as far as facilities / entertainment.

The showers need new shower curtains as they were going black with mold at the bottom (shame as the place had been closed for 4 months) and the toilets were only cleaned once a day not twice a day. They were not cleaned on the Saturday or Sunday. Regular cleaning should be done at the moment even more so than normal and the the showers do not drain well so flood into the sink area.

I'm sure the lakeside lodges are very nice.

Not sure the site is worth £35 per night.

The site is small with only a few pitches, ‘treehouses’, Shepard hut and lodges. We were camping for 10 nights. First impressions were not great.

The pitch we were allocated was in very poor condition. It had gravel going across halfway which limited where we could attempt to pitch our tent. One side of it was very uneven and was almost like a bog at points meaning that side was a no go. The only small area we could pitch on meant we were right next to the small roadway and again was very uneven - not great for 10 nights stay. Looking at the pitches nearest the kids play area, they were very small and we certainly wouldn’t have fit our tent on them. Other pitches near us looked better so perhaps luck of the draw.

Facilities:
We were very disappointed by the lack of cleaning taking place in the toilet/shower block. The standard of cleaning was very poor and that’s even without the added covid element! I had to ask several times if they were planning to clean as it was evident this was not done on a daily basis - regularly ran out of toilet roll and hand wash. There was also no hand gel - making it feel impossible to reduce risks of covid via regular hand washing. Noted towards the end of our stay, cleaning regime did appear to improve.

The play area is good for small children but nothing for older children to do. We were conscious as well that general public had access to the site and the facilities, this made us feel like it was not as safe and secure as other sites we have stayed at.

There was always a strong unpleasant smell by the waste points on site, even when they had been emptied.

There is a fishing lake with some good fish in, notice a few people questioning if there is any fish in there. There are, we did catch some good ones, but not frequently. Having other very noisy people on the lake increased the difficulty in catching anything. Others were also dropping litter and this was going into the lake.

Location:
It was a good location for exploring Bath and going to Longleat. Supermarkets were near by as well as pubs and restaurants a short drive away.

Sadly the first half of our stay was ruined due to some of the other guests on site, we certainly were not alone in thinking this when talking to others. Concerns were raised to staff and management however they did nothing to rectify the issues. There was no staff presence at the far end of the site, no one checking everything was ok, even when there were complaints. We appreciate that you can’t control who books but staff could do much more to manage the site from that point of view. This really ruined our experience of the site.

Over all this site was OK. It was the most expensive site we have stayed at in the UK and in our opinion was not worth the money. We would not stay again and would only recommend short stays.

We have just returned from a four night stay at Fairwood Lakes.
We had the most wonderful time.
Stayed in Avocet Lodge, four adults staying. The lodge was absolutely beautiful, decor was gorgeous it was immaculately clean, fresh towels and bedding and a fully functional kitchen with everything you could possibly need. The lodge is located right next to the lake with wonderful views and perfect if you have fishermen amongst you and literally a few seconds walk to the lake.
I have nothing bad to say.
We walked around the site, each pitch site for camping was gorgeous and clean all the grounds are kept beautifully, we need have a peep in the communal showers etc and again we were very very impressed.
There are also little tree houses which look so cute and again all beautifully kept.
All in all we had a great time so much so we have re booked for next year as we checked out!
Thankyou Fairwood

Lovely lakes surrounded by pathways to take in a leisurely stroll. Stayed in the ‘Floating Lodge’ which is really a caravan with wooden cladding and decking surround. Usual caravan style seating made evenings relatively uncomfortable. Still, it’s set over a lake and on its own away from other lodges/huts/‘treehouses’, so is peaceful. Setting somewhat offsets any feelings of being over charged for the stay. Local heron and ducks often visit throughout the day. Nice peaceful meadow close by just beyond the corner gate. Main site clearly specialises in catering for families with younger children with a play area, ‘splash tunnel’, and crazy golf. Nice café on site offering refreshments. Friendly staff. Car park and driveway covered in sharp large stones further encouraging the 5mph speed limit for fear of tyre puncture. Walked past the ‘Treehouses’ which looked more like sheds on raised platforms adjacent to several trees. Great location to explore the wider area - enjoyed both Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge.

We camped for five nights in a tent. Lovely small site with great facilities for children (they loved the soft play and playground). Pitches are a mixture of grass and hard standing. Grass could have done with cutting but plenty of space. Let down by lack of cleaning of toilets and shower block which is especially important in the current circumstances. Having said that the out of hours warden was very helpful and quick to respond when toilet roll ran out and sinks needed cleaning. If they can manage to sort out cleaning we would go back again.

We stayed in the Avocet lodge this week which was clean, welcoming (christmas tree) and on a site that is clearly making plans for Christmas! The staff were really friendly and Paul & Cathy will do anything for you. The Hot Tub was a huge plus in the dipping temperatures. The site has a tesco express and 3 good takeaways within 5 mins drive and is perfectly situated for Bath (train on the doorstep) & Longleat safari park (15 mins drive). Not too much to do on the site really apart from a small kids indoor play but they are doing a wonderful Christmas lights and grotto. Could do with a few more cooking Utensils in the itinerary but overall great value for money! Well done Fairwood! We are now back in Newquay with the storms rolling in! Stephen, Sarah & the gang

Just spent 2 nights in a Treehouse to recharge my batteries. On arrival I was confused over catering, it's either takeaways from local area, which are 2 mins drive away or delivered or something cold to keep in your fridge. There is only a kettle, toaster & fridge. However, I popped down to the local centre & there's fish & chips, an Italian & Chinese along with a Tesco Express, so plenty of choice.
The accommodation was quaint & very clean. Towels & linen supplied along with tea, coffee, milk etc along with some washing up liquid & a sponge. I enjoyed 2 very peaceful nights sleep in a comfy bed.
The site is small, clean, quiet with plenty to do for the children. Everyone was very courteous & polite, especially the staff. They work very hard & nothing seems to be too much trouble.
My son popped over to see me & spent hours bombing around the play areas-his idea of paradise! We will definitely be returning either camping or day visitors as it's perfect for a spot of lunch & play.

Definitely need to go by car but I would advise using the park and ride. The Roman Baths are a 5 minute walk from the bus stop.
