We went for the Santa experience. What a joke. It has to be the worst experience for young children as we pod £50 for 2 children and it was nothing more than a tired excuse to make money. The 12 days of Christmas was rubbish, worn out and shabby. Santa’s grotto was the worst. Santa made no effort; he made no attempt to disguise he was in his 50s or that he didn’t have a Santa belly. He spoke in a very pronounced welsh accent (so much for Lapland) and he delivered an awful poem that he refused to deviate from even when the kids asked a question. It was not personalised - just amateur hour at its worst - compounded by the hefty price tag that showed you they were clearly just taking the ****! To top things off, the promised toy was just a load of tat you’d get in a party bag from Asda and the hot chocolate was the size of a shot. An absolute disgrace and a venue to be missed. Such an awful experience for our children who had looked forward to the event but came away deflated and left without any feeling of Christmas spirit! Glad that you have made money this year because friends all the folks we spoke to today, you will have a very lean new year through your greed!

We had a great time here, I went with my partner and 9yr old daughter, the lodge and park was nice, clean and well kept. The staff were very polite and happy! There was lots to do in the surrounding areas but not much for my daughter on-site, they had a lovely cafe with great coffee and breakfast. My partner fished a lot of the time and caught some big ones 😊 he was happy with that, it’s very quiet which was great! Our lodge was nice and well stocked with everything we needed to cook, the only downsides were the double bed was high and hard to get into and getting out was even worse, the mattress was so soft (springs coming through) and that didn’t help, the mattresses on the bunks were similar, the solar lights on the side of the lodge didn’t work so it was pitch black and dangerous if you came or went at night and the decking was dangerously slippy, we did leave a day early due to lack of sleep, That being said we would visit again ( and hope the mattresses were changed)as it’s a beautiful place for relaxing and some peace 😊

Lovely welcome on arrival, young lady very passionate about the site and very helpful. Arrived early and decided to eat in the cafe. Really lovely food and friendly staff. We stayed 3 nights in Florence and she was lovely and extremely comfortable. You’re located in a wooded area, very private and with your own hot tub, seating area and toilet, a short walk away. Fishing was very enjoyable, luckily had a few bites. Really lovely clean site and beautiful looking lodges. Kids play area looked pretty cool, wanted to have a go myself, but I’m 47! Showers were spacious and hot water ample. We would definitely return again and would highly recommend for a relaxing break.

Our recent stay at Fairwood Lakes was mostly enjoyable. The park's location offered a relaxing getaway from the city's hustle and bustle, with plenty of great walks and hiking options in the surrounding area. The accommodation was decent enough, providing the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The soft play area is great for little ones, especially in rainy weather, and they have a large outdoor play park for when it's dry. The onsite cafe was also very nice, with a good selection of food and drinks. However, there were a few observations that could of made our stay better: - Unfortunately, our views of the lake from the Jackdaw lodge were partially obscured by a lot of overgrown weeds and stinging nettles. It would've been nice if these had been cut back to allow us to enjoy the view better. - the Wi-Fi connectivity and TV reception was disappointingly weak. Certainly not the end of the world as it we tried to not use our phones or watch TV, but the rainy weather made that very difficult on one of days we were there. - the jacuzzi was only partially operational, with at least 50% of the jets not working properly. However, the water temperature was nice and warm and we still enjoyed using it. Ideally, these sort of things should be checked prior to guests arriving at the park. - the decking in front of our cabin became very slippery and borderline treacherous when it rained. Adding some grip tape would make it a lot of safer. - although we didn't have a problem during our stay, I could see this area becoming quite 'busy' with mosquitoes and other flying insects. Adding some mosquito netting would be a useful improvement to allow guests to keep their doors and windows open on hot days without worrying about what was going to fly inside. - we also noticed that there a couple of nails poking through floor boards near the sofa in the lounge area. Luckily we noticed them before anyone caught their foot. However, with our 6-year-old running around bare footed, it was still a constant worry. On a positive note, the staff at Fairwood Lakes Holiday Park were friendly and accommodating. Their hospitality added a touch of warmth to the experience, and I appreciated their efforts in making our stay as pleasant as possible. In conclusion, Fairwood Lakes Holiday Park has the potential to be an excellent destination for a peaceful retreat amidst nature. However, improvements are needed in areas such as the maintenance of the grounds and facilities, and Wi-Fi/TV. With these enhancements, the park could easily become a regular go-to choice for those seeking a relaxing holiday.

I booked this site for two nights as we had a party to attend in westbury. On arrival, all seemed fine. Hmm, BUT not all was as it appeared. Once we had settled in, we found that there was rubbish on the pitch from previous occupants. Not nice 😕 . We were also directly next door to the children's playground, I don't mind the sound of children playing it was the music blaring out that was the problem! The amount of weeds and stinging nettles in the hedges on the pitch was absolutely terrible. To get to the electrical hook up and water points, we had to practically climb through the hedge! I have to say I do think that the security cameras could be better positioned! We had one camera pointing directly onto our pitch, talk about big brother is watching you! We were very disappointed and certainly didn't feel that the £37 per night was worth it. We won't be bothering again.

Clean and comfortable. I liked that they had soap, toilet rolls, dishwasher tabs etc. Bedrooms were inviting and the beds were soft and comfortable. The view is beautiful onto the lakes especially in the sun. Geese and ducks swim by which is great for the kids. The holiday park have their own little soft play and large outdoor area which is quite nice for young ones. Lots of seating aswell as undercover seating. The cafe is very handy, we just bought ice-creams from there so can't comment on meals but saw lots of yummy cakes. Crazy golf was well received by my husband and son! Staff were always friendly and smiley. Parking just outside the lodges which is handy! The only things that could do with improving is some attention to detail. Minor things really. We noticed some fittings and fixtures needed some tlc. For example skirting boards wearing away and needing a lick of paint. Loud creaky doors (this was annoying at night when the kids were in bed). The door frame to the lake was chipped and in need of repair or at least could be touched up with paint. The lodge was nice and fresh looking inside but you can see that some things have been over looked. Hopefully they will address them as it would improve the look and feel of the lodge. We were unlucky with the weather and so didn't get to enjoy the veranda when it rained. It would have been nice to have the option to sit out undercover with a hot drink and take in the scene. A reminder for other potential guests. We assumed there was a freezer and bought frozen food (doh). Thankfully it was only a couple of things and so we used them that night. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay as a family and would stay again.

We booked to stay at Fairwood lakes the week commencing the 6th of March 2023 via Air b&b. When we arrived at fairwood and checked in, we spoke and met Nigel. He gave us the key for the Carrion lodge. We also requested a high chair and travel cot. I had exchanged a few emails prior to our arrival to make sure the travel cot came with a mattress etc, we were just told to bring our own sheets. We were shocked to find a travel cot with no mattress in, just a hard wood plank! and when I called reception they told me that was the mattress and to fold up a duvet to use as a mattress. Totally unacceptable, it took me back so much I didn’t feel I could complain about anything else. My two year old could not sleep like this for 4 nights!! Then came the lack of Wi-Fi, I appreciate it’s meant to be a relaxing holiday and Wi-Fi is not a huge priority, however we couldn’t even get Netflix to work, the signal was just to weak. The sofa in the living room was so hard and uncomfortable to sit on, and you would get a crook neck looking up at the television if it did work! The bedrooms! Where to start, carpets were stained furniture dusty, the mattresses were SO uncomfortable, it was like sleeping on a broken spring! Really bad, shocking actually. The window in the twin bedroom lock was broken, or the key was missing to lock it, and that’s where out child was going to sleep! So I would have been worrying the whole time that anyone could climb through the window. The main bathroom had no soap to wash your hands. And the shower was mouldy. We were told we should of ask for soap from the reception. It was shut when we arrived, they also said they had spare key, the window lock was broken so a spare key wouldn’t of made any difference. The hot tub was dirty inside so we didn’t want to use that! And over looked the car park!! We resorted to booking into accommodation elsewhere. I didn’t feel I could say anything to reception as they were so unhelpful about the mattress situation, and quite frankly we just wanted to get the hell out of there! I’m very disappointed that our trip ended up this way, we don’t get to travel much as a family so this was very special trip for us and sadly it was partially ruined by our visit to fairwood lakes. The response from the staff after I emailed my concerns was defensive and unapologetic, lots of excuses made and no responsibility taken. I would not recommend staying here. It is definitely not a luxury stay in a idyllic setting!

Response from Rebecca Groves, Owner at Fairwood Lakes Holiday Park
Responded 30 Mar 2023
You will be able to see all the 5 star reviews we have from the lodges and staying guests. Please scroll through any of the photos and you will be able to see our beautiful lakes and scenery. All hot tubs overlook the lakes in their private gardens, not over the car park as described here. We have a cafe open every day and an onsite warden for any issues that arise and our warden wasn't called during their whole stay. When they checked out they didn't speak to us about the issues they had, instead decided to post it in a review without giving us the opportunity to rectify the problems. Of course there is soap supplied in the lodges along with keys for the window and if needed they only needed to call our ONSITE warden for additional supplies. The hot tub is in a very beautiful setting overlooking the lakes and as any pervious guest knows, we empty, drain and clean the hot tub after every guest. To any viewer reading the reviews please disregard this one.

wow what a find for our first trip in the new camper ! 🤩 everything from the pitch itself to the freshly cooked breakfast was amazing. the heated shower/toilet block was great, very clean ! staff were so friendly, we’ve already booked our next stay. the welcome pack was very helpful and included a map of local attentions, on-site there’s a mini adventure golf course and inside soft play for little ones. the walk around the lake was beautiful, we can’t wait to come back.

We visited out of season in February and were really pleased with how easy it was to arrive late, up until 9pm, the greeting we received and how friendly all of the staff were! We visited in our LWB camper conversion, which can be tricky to pilot around small spaces, but the land and pitch was accommodating. Finally, we visited with our two children and although the weather wasn’t great in February, if you were to visit in the summer, the activity area for children is brilliant! They have fenced off the huge space so the little ones are safe and you could sit and have a drink, whilst they are safe and having fun! We would definitely stay again if we were passing! :)
