Be careful of booking this establishment on booking.com They take 100% payment about 14 days prior to arrival ., 3 of us paid £500 for one night but due to bad weather , the sporting event that we were attending in the area was postponed two days before arrival . Our plea for a sense of fairness and even a partial credit note to use again fell on deaf ears . We did not even ask for a refund . So, be careful .

Dear Frank. this situation is very regrettable, any booking via a booking agent would be the same. Once the agent books the room we are unable to amend or cancel it from our side, so we have to wait on the booking agent removing the booking before the rooms are free to sell. Once Booking.com had processed the cancellation, on the Thursday I immediately put the three rooms back on sale. I said that I would be more than happy to offer you a voucher for future use or a full refund should we get bookings for any/all of the rooms. Sadly with only 24 hours notice the rooms didn't sell. We are a very small family business with only 6 rooms, weekend business is very important to us at this time of the year. To lose half of our bookings for one night at only two days notice with no chance to rebook has a huge affect on our income which we simply cannot regain. We empathise with your situation but hope you can understand the position we and other areas of the hospitality industry are in when last minute cancellations are made.

I don't usually write reviews but I have to say that this was the most relaxing and enjoyable stay I've had in a long time. Everything from the food, to the facilities, the location and the atmosphere were fantastic. From our arrival (greeting from Murphy) to our departure, the staff made every effort to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Huge thank you to Steve for looking after us so well!! We hope to be back soon!!

FANTASTIC!! The Loft Suite was perfect for my family and I. We stayed at the Blackwell House on the last leg of our trip to Ireland and truly enjoyed minute. Steve and Joyce were amazing hosts, offering delectable food and drink (and even accommodated my 11-year-old son who is a picky eater). There were house cats roaming the gardens, chickens, and Murphy the adorable pup, who also did his fair share of making the guests happy. They greeted us with a beautiful en suite tea service upon arrival - just remarkable. We look forward to returning some day and recommend this establishment to anyone that asks.

My friend and I visited a couple of Saturdays ago for afternoon tea for a special birthday celebration. We had a lovely afternoon tea. Loved the music in the background. [Maybe a wee bit loud, but very minor criticism]. Staff made us feel as if we were in The Ritz in London. Have been for several afternoon tea experiences in well known hotels, but Blackwell House tops them all. Food excellent and so neatly presented, soup and lemon posset delicious! 🍋 The orange naturisum just finished the presentation. Thank you. Will be back.

When we booked the Blackwell House for our last stay in Ireland we were looking for a centrally located, quiet and comfortable stay after 3 great weeks of traveling. Additionally we decided to opt for dinner that night as well given we were leaving to fly out the next day. What we experienced was undeniably a beautifully appointed country house, with very comfortable and spacious living room sitting areas and a gourmet dinner (and breakfast) prepared and served by our hosts, Steve and Joyce, that was without doubt the most memorable food treat we experienced during our holiday. While not meant to diminish the great food, wonderful people and lovely experiences we had throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland, the attention to detail from these folks clearly is a tribute to what must be an extensive restaurant/hotel background. We both had THE best time ever here. The place is immaculate and so professionally run. Steve is a gentleman and a first class host. The food was superb too from our wee afternoon scones to our dinner to our breakfast.. all delicious. We would recommend to anyone and we will definitely be back again. Murphy the schnauzer is just the cherry on the cake.. he’s just gorgeous but unfortunately wouldn’t fit in my bag. Thanks so much to you both. Jackie and Warren.

Steve and Joyce are the most wonderful hosts! Their home, the rooms (we stayed in three), the breakfasts, the gardens, and their precious dog (Murphy) surpassed all expeditions. We also booked a dinner one night, which was also exceptional. Blackwell House the the perfect base to explore Northern Ireland, yet come home to an idyllic peaceful oasis. We left feeling like we were saying good-bye to friends. Cannot wait to return next time we are in Ireland! Thank you Joyce and Steve!!

Our first visit and we will be returning. A country house abode with comfortable furnishings and great food. Dinner is available also which again was very good. Lovely gardens to sit in and attentive hosts plus Murphy the dog made this a memorable visit. I can't recommend this enough.

We had a lovely night. The location is beautiful. The staff are all so lovely and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The food was absolutely incredible! It is the perfect place to go to treat yourself and get away for a night
