We stayed two nights in the Relais de l´ankarana and we were absolutely satisfied. The place is really nice, calm, well maintained and close to the Ankarana park entrance. Rooms are spacious and clean, cleaned every day up to the tinest details such as burned-out wax on the candles... The food was one of the best we had in Madagascar,... More

Having read in the Bradt guide that this hotel was "basic but reliable" we had few expectations. We were very pleasantly surprised! Electricity only worked during specific hours, but that's true for most of the places we stayed in in Madagascar, so it wasn't a problem. We had candles in the room. The room we had was huge, with comfortable... More

The Relais de L'Ankarana is located right next to the Ankarana National Park so it's a great location to base yourself when exploring this area. It's not luxurious, but that's to be expected given the remote location. The rooms are basic, with limited hours of electricity and not a lot of facilities on site. However the room is very functional... More

Our room was small, but had everything we needed -- especially a cross-breeze, and a very effective fan that was available 24hrs a day (!!!). Main electricity was available for a handful of hours at night, but it was possible to power small items on an emergency power outlet during other hours. We had brought a small power strip so... I spent four nights at this hotel during my visit to Ankarana East and West. It is a small family run hotel. The owners were great, very pleasant and helpful. I had choices for my dinner selection and the food was always nicely presented and very tasty. The rooms were spacious and clean. Electricity is by generator in the evenings.... More

We stopped here for 2 nights, as a stop on our tour, and I must say it is a lovely place! The owners, Soraya and Elias are two genuine and friendly people eager to learn new language and share their culture. The rooms are large, and although simple have everything you need. The mosquito nets are on the windows and... More

The hotel is in a nice spot, very close to the Eastern entrance of the park. There are bungalows of reasonable size, even if I was alone and the bungalow contained three beds. I doubt it can be very comfortable in three people. There is a garden around but a little untended. There is no common space where to rest,... More

Stay here! Very clean, comfortable, and simple rooms. Wonderful and helpful staff. Great food. Don't be fooled by other places, this is the best. The woman who runs the lodge is so very helpful and accommodating. Very good English spoken.

Stayed one night while visiting Ankarana Reserve. The individual bungalows were spacious, clean and bed was comfortable. The accommodations were very basic but adequate for one night stay. Our outfitter told us that this is the best accommodations within a 1-2 hour drive of the park. There is one plug in each room for charging (difficult to find but its... More
