Situated in the heart of the quiet village of the Far Sawrey, just a 3/4 mile pleasant stroll to the National Trust home of Beatrix Potter, our Lake District Inn welcomes you to come and sit by the fire. Situated at the top of the hill in between Lake Windermere and Hawkshead Village, surrounded by beautiful scenery, popular walking and cycling trails and of course the countryside which Beatrix Potter drew her inspiration from. We are a classic, yet contemporary Lake District Inn, which has recently been renovated and lovingly restored to its former glory. We now have 14 beautiful en-suite bedrooms, which are a selection of superking size, family and twin rooms, all rooms have power showers, 32" flat screen TVs, tea and coffee facilities and everything you would want from Lake District Inn. We are passionate about the Lakes, and strive to produce a local menu, sourcing as much produce as possible from the bountiful area in which we sit, be that the Real Ales, the game for our Huntsmans Hot Pot or the sausages for our Cumbrian Breakfast which of course no true Lake District Inn would be without. We would like to welcome all to our little Inn, which offers dog friendly accommodation for those wishing to bring their dog away for a holiday in the Lakes. Whether you are popping in for a pint or coming to stay in the Lake District Inn, our doors are open and our fires are on. Food is served all day, 12 noon to 2pm, 6pm until 9pm.

We had a fab 2 nights stay at the cuckoo. The cuckoo has a very warm feeling about it and the public areas and rooms are all very clean. The food is amazing chef loredan and team do a brilliant job and he always goes out of his way to ask how you find the meal. Mihaela is great and nothing is too much trouble and she is always asking how your stay is. Plenty of walks on your doorstep to do so very handy for the dog. We will be returning.

Probably the best hotel in a good walking area that we have found for our annual pre-Christmas getaway - it was defintely worth the wait until December this year. The room was warm with a large comfortable bed and there was a super bath to relax in after an energetic day. The chef/manager took a personal interest in our booking and all the staff were very friendly. The food was excellent, with large Cumbrian portions. We definitely hope to return another year.

This little hotel is fantastic, the staff are amazing and really helpful. Rooms are on the smaller side however as it is an old building and would not expect a bigger on the inside than the outside (tardis reference). We will return next year as we really couldn’t stay anywhere else in the area now, one other thing to mention is that the food is amazing.. the lamb and winter greens is sublime. Make sure after a days walking you leave your boots by the open fire... toasty.

The manager Laurien and his staff are fantastic and can’t do enough for you. Great place to stay, fantastic food and what a menu choice! Even at breakfast the man serving is very friendly and polite, and puts a smile on your face. Lovely clean and modern rooms with a big bath. Perfect for a few nights break. Can’t wait to return soon - would highly recommend, and a must visit and if you haven’t! Chris, Marj, Sam + Poppy
