Our family has rented the entire Inn for three years in a row for a long week-end. The accommodations were excellent. The numerous children in our family loved all the special little corners to play with cousins. The third floor was a great place to gather for games, make believe, and watching animated movies. It would have been nice to... More

My husband, 5 year old, 2 year old and myself stayed in the Indiana Dunes room. It was a nice room with a much too small bathroom. It's beside a highway and train tracks but was surprisingly quiet. I do think it cost too much. It was basically a hotel room but without some of the amenities you get at... More

My family stayed at the Dunes Walk Inn for a weekend wedding at the Indiana Dunes Beach. The location was excellent for us to come and go the beach, and the accomodations were first class! We enjoyed the beautifullly decorated rooms, and the kitchenettes were very useful. Everything we needed was only a few minutes away in Chesterton. The staff... More

My daughter and I stayed here one night. It was very unnerving to not have owners/hosts on site. Did not see notice of whom to contact if problem came up, i.e. plumbing, electrical. The soaking tub described turned out to be just a shower/tub combo and without a plug. We did walk down to the Schoolhouse Shops but had to... More

We came upon the DunesWalk inn after recieving the stay as a gift; in our journey from Wisconsin to Grand Rapids it was a perfect place to spend a few days in between. A nice updated mansion with almost anything that you need for a short stay. The Inn was close to the dunes, which were great to visit, and... More

We booked our stay knowing that no innkeeper would be present and that breakfast was not included, but once we were there, we really missed those two things. The historical house is nicely preserved, but is located close to a major, noisy highway and far from amenities such as restaurants. Not within walking distance of the lake shore, as we... More

On a trip to Detroit from Iowa, we spent a night at the DunesWalk Inn. The Porter Queen Room had a small kitchenette with microwave and fridge, and there was a nice queen bed and a glass tile tub/shower in the bathroom. We found the place quiet, easily accessible, and a fresh room in a restored old Inn. For us,... More

We never stay in B&Bs but we thought we would try this one. It was a great little place that was very well done. The room was very comfortable. We tried to book online but it wouldn't let us book the same day. We called and they were very accommodating even making sure that they left a pack and play... More

We truly enjoyed our two night stay here! Beautifully appointed with very comfortable bed! Loved all the reading material and historical literature in the library. We have stayed in B and B/ Inns before that use the same system of checking in and found it comparable (though DunesWalk more expensive than those or owner in house/full breakfast incl). It was... It was our first time visiting Michigan city and had no idea what to expect. This place is like a home away from home. I loved it, hubby loved it and the kids loved it. It was a wonderful trip and would definitely come back!

“South Shore King Room is at the back of house so no street noise. You can still hear train whistle so if light sleeper bring a fan or ear plugs.”

“The two suites are large and perfect for families. The Furness Suite is on the main floor so you do not have steps, but have the foot traffic of other guests. The Beverly Shores Suite is on the third floor so there are steps to get to the room, but no other foot traffic from other guests as this suite covers the entire top floor of the mansion. The South Shore King Room is very large and faces the north/east so is quieter than the other rooms on the second floor.”
