A tranquil place on top of a mountain, offering great views of the Lago Maggiore and surrounding mountains. Both the rooms and food are plain but good. The drive up (and down) is somewhat tedious though (taking 20-30 minutes), but worth the hassle in my humble opinion.

I went there on a rainy Saturday night. The only problem that people may run into is the not so easy road to get there but as long as you go with a normal car, all goes perfectly fine! Food was really good and really cheap related to its quality. Waiters are kind and helpful, the restaurant wasn't that crowded...

The place is on the top of a mountain, 6 km of hard difficult road (difgicult curves). You have to be a very trained driver to get there. We thuoght we would never arrive up the mountain and when we arraived we thougt we would never get the way down... The place is o.k, regular breakfast, regular room but clean...

At the end of a very narrow and very sharp turns a simple and clean hotel. The way up is very difficult for any driver, many turns require 3 point reverse manuvering. DO NOT ARRIVE AT DARKNESS TO AVOID MISSHAPS. The view from the top of on a clear day is great, the homemade food is good but the buffet...

Beautiful location, with tremendeous view on Lago Maggiore. Friendly people, well equipped apartments. Rural environment both atmosphere and food. Food is lovely and pure tastes. Great possibilities for a lovely walk/bike on the mountain Monterosso. Don't expect overwhelming entertainment at the location itself, just enjoy the environment and food. All seasons are beautifull at this location. Downhill villages Pallanza or...

We stayed just one night at this beautiful place. The view is stunning from the top but it's quite scary to reach it. The road is not too wide and there are probably 6km climbing the mountain before reaching the top. It's a perfect place for hiking, food is abundant and good value for money. You won't have a fancy...

Although expectations were high, we never got the chance of seeing the magnificent view as mentioned by several travellers. The way up to the hotel is very difficult and at certain points even dangerous as far as we are concerned, After several turns (of which the road has a lot) a problem with the clutch of our car occurred. However,...

We expected so much and got so little! The location is some 5 kilometres up Monterosso mountain. The road is not easy, quite tiring and scary at night but the setting up there is beautiful. BUT the breakfast and service leaves much to be desired. The breakfast was the worst I ever had! We stayed for 6 nights, during the...

Two Israeli families with children ages 4-12. We found Il Monterosso charming and magical, on top of a hill (try to get there for the first time at day light). The rooms are very small, and with children, families actually need two rooms. There's no air-condition, but if you have a window (not all rooms do, however), that suffices in...

This place is not easy to get to. It takes quite some driving experience because the road is turny and narrow. But when you get on the top of the mountain, you can fully relax. The food is superb , the rooms are very clean and the price is very reasonable. Like said, after a glass of wine, you better...
