Richard and Kim could not do enough for me or the other guests. e.g. taxi did not turn up so they gave me a lift to my business meeting. Another guest needed a European charger coaction and they managed to find one. Friendly atmosphere and great Full English Breakfast!

Decided to stop off for lunch purely on spec at The Swan en route to Basingstoke. It's a lovely old world type village pub centrally located. We were among a few other customers obviously travelling further but having a lunch stop. The pub offered an extensive food and drinks menu, all reasonably priced. Friendly, welcoming staff were a bonus. We... More

24th October 2016 . About the sixth time we've been here, always a good selection of of food on the menu and on the specials board. My particular favourite is the steak and kidney pie with mashed potato, but the ribs are good too. It's nice and clean and the service is pretty good as well.

Have called here for lunch on our way to Dorset several times. Medium size pub/hotel friendly staff and locals. Light lunch always enjoyable (brie and bacon Panini /garlic mushrooms ) No noisy music to distract! TV sometimes on but not usually a problem

I have used this hotel for nine years now. As a mobile engineer and a frequent visitor to the area, there is nowhere better to stay. The staff and locals are a friendly and inviting bunch of people. For a one night stay or a base for more than one night I would highly recommend The Swan

A useful pub to remember when travelling on the A34. Easy, quick access from the dual carriageway. Friendly efficient service, good pub fare with well kept beers. Much nicer than a service area! Food was freshly prepared, wholesome and value for money. Sorry, cannot comment on staying as we used it for a refreshment break. However, did look okay.

The Swan Hotel is an excellent place to stay if you are exploring The Ridgeway. It is run by very friendly people who seem to enjoy what they are doing. The beer is well kept and the food is good too (particularly the cooked breakfasts). It is located in the centre of a well kept village which is within easy... More

Stayed for one night yesterday. Great staff - warm and friendly. Clean comfortable room, we wished we'd had longer to stay but nonetheless will be back. Breakfast was superb and not rushed at all. Dinner the night we arrived was relaxed with great food and company.

Found this on the internet, when searching for places to eat on our journey from Cheshire to Portsmouth. The Sunday lunch carvery didn't disappoint. There was a great selection of lovely vegetables plus two choices of meat - perfectly cooked. This was followed by a good selection of puddings. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. Great value - will... More
