Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed for 2 nights in a superior room. Nice big hotel with the largest pub garden I have ever seen. All the staff were helpful & friendly - special mention for Mathew. Would definitely stay here again.

Had my future mother in law to stay with us and have booked our wedding here for next year, so decided to have dinner here. Food was absolutely delicious, generous portions and very reasonably priced. The staff were fantastic, every single one was so friendly and cheerful, they couldn’t do enough for us. We booked our wedding with Sarah who has been amazing, assuring us everything will be tailored to our day as we want it. They allowed us to go and view the room our reception will be in again, didn’t rush us at all and George answered the many more questions we had, remaining so friendly and happy. Mum in law said they treated us all more like old friends than customers. Will definitely be eating here again and would highly recommend it!

Very noisy, lots of people outside smoking, including staff. room very average but clean. Bad smell of cigars atfront of hotel. Staff quite jolly. A bit overpriced, especiallt in the bar. I would only recommend as a last resort

Easy to find off the M20 motorway and ideally placed for using the channel tunnel or catching an early ferry from Dover. Dogs allowed at a charge of £20. Free parking on site. There is plenty of pleasant outside space and a decent menu. There is a nice park directly opposite for dog walking. Would stay again

All good apart from the fact we were over the bar area which had a band playing for two and a half hours which sounded as if it was in our room. We only got told about it when we arrived and the very nice receptionist was encouraging us to go to the bar and have a boogie. We came to get away for peace and relaxation which we didn’t get and we felt very stressed out throughout our evening. Breakfast was great and the guy in the bar was very efficient and polite. Won’t return

The hotel is well placed for overnight to/from Eurotunnel. We used it as an alternative to Travelodge/Premier Inn. However there is an air of sadness about the whole place The rooms are clean & the bed / linen fine. But there are too many examples where there has just not been any maintenance eg holes in the bathroom tiles where fixtures have been removed ; doors marked and down to bare wood. Window frames tatty. Some passageway carpets are very old & dirty. Mind you if you allow lots of dogs to stay .... The weather vanes on the turrets are cock-eyed - says it all This doesn't need a lot of money spent on it, just some tidying up, some fresh paint, some TLC You get the impression the maintenance budget is nil If you think this is all negative.... well the food is very good & very reasonable priced ( alas not the drinks ... over £12 for a medium wine & bottle of beer ! - nothing on draught) It could be so much better - a fine building in its prime, fading away Is it better than Travelodge ? just about, as we feel that was getting tatty as well. but I note Ashford Travelodge has just upgraded all its rooms (there's a message !)

Great Hotel for a travel stop over after the Eurotunnel. Good Family room with plenty of space. Good outside area with Bar & Pub Restaurant. Although the night we stayed they were short on items off the menu, due to supplier delivery. But we were happy with the food that was served anyway. Dog friendly which is always a Bonus. Good Breakfast. Would definately stay again.

Arrived after a long rainy journey. Staff were welcoming and friendly with an easy check in. The three real ales were well kept and food was good value. I particularly like the Buddha Bowl. Our double room was in the conference block and it was clean and well fitted out, including a corner bath with shower over and sufficient tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

Great hotel. Clean room, friendly staff. Restaurant was good and bar staff very friendly and pleasant. Only slightly irritation was no USB port in our room to charge phones etc. Luckily the lady behind the bar lent us a plug with a port. Enjoyed our stay.
