Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visiting Skåbu Fjellhotell was really a heartwarming experience. The hotel is only one and a half years old, established in the old local store. Modern design respectfully combined with traditional and antique materials. The beds very comfortable.
The hosts make you feel like an old dear friend of the family, exceptionally service minded and informal.
The food is gourmet style - lots of local food, surprising and tasty combinations beautiffully displayed, home made bread.
And the cross country slopes are only a short walk away. Beautiful views of the mountains in all directions, and in comparison with other destinations - the ski tracks are perfectly prepared and not at all crowded.
All in all: highly recommended!

Our recent stay at Skåbu Fjellhotel was an absolute delight and a memorable experience. This charming gem is a testament to the warm hospitality of its customer-oriented owners, the Haug family.

From the moment we stepped foot into the hotel, we were greeted with genuine smiles and a sense of belonging. The Haug family's dedication to ensuring a fantastic guest experience truly shines through. The personal touch and attention to detail are palpable, making the stay feel like a cherished homecoming.

The five-course menu (in fact six) offered at the hotel's restaurant is a culinary masterpiece. In our humble opinion, it's deserving of a Michelin star! The flavors, presentation, and creative combinations left our taste buds dancing with joy. The culinary team's passion for their craft is evident with each carefully plated dish.

The hotel's location provides the perfect gateway to explore the breathtaking surroundings. We embarked on beautiful hikes in the immediate vicinity, soaking in the stunning landscapes and crisp mountain air.

Our time at Skåbu Fjellhotel was too short

Thank you, Haug family, for making our stay so remarkable.

Super friendly staff. Calm and cosy atmosphere. Amazing kitchen- I recommend the set menu. Generous portions, homemade and extremely delicious. We stayed in one of the apartments. A special thank to the owners Jannicke and Henrik who guided us around the area and gave us directions for hiking.

This is a small private hotel nicely located to outdoor activities. The rooms are of good standard, the dinner is very nice fixed menu and is strongly recommended. The owners are very nice, always smiling and willing to help. Here you feel at ease and taken care of.

My wife and I stayed at the Fjellhotel for six nights while on a cross country ski-ing trip. We had a great time. The ski-ing conditions were a bit variable but the hotel was excellent: small, friendly, high quality, recently built. We were made very welcome. The food was excellent. The room was comfortable with lovely views across the valley. It was much better value than some of the larger mountain hotels.

Had a super dinner at the restaurant of the hotell right before Christmas. The welcome was warm and genuine, and they were happy to share stories and knowledge of the area. The food was excellent and based on local ingredients, the moose carpaccio was a highlight!

I didn't have a chance to stay at the hotel, but my grandparents did and can report it was perfect, and that the service was very attentive and personal. The hotel could help organise a series of outings and excursions (hello dog sledding and moose safari!), we'll take advantage of that next time when we're not busy with Christmas "commitments" :)

Excellent hotel, I didn’t know what to expect as this was my first time to Norway but Henrich, the owner, immediately helped me to feel at home. The hotel had been meticulously remodeled and is stylish but also warm. The food was delicious—all items were either local or from Norway. I hope to return again someday soon.

we spent one night in Skåbufjellhotel on our way from Oslo to Trondheim. Henrich met us at Vinstra station and drove us up to Skåbu. He then dropped us up at the trail head and told us where to go for a spectacular walk with jaw dropping views. We wandered back to the hotel through amazing countryside in time for a delicious dinner. We had a fantastic stay - a lovely surprise stop on route to Trondheim.

The hotel does not seem impressive from the outside, with its 12 rooms, but when you enter you notice a cool and good atmosphere with a thorough interior.
And, not least, a staff that puts everything ready, for each individual guest...you experience it as if you have your own butler....excellent!
Best service ever!
