Stayed one night while visiting friends. Room was large and clean, beds comfy we slept really well, good sound proof rooms. The breakfast was exceptional made to order and was delicious. I did t use the pool but my husband and son did they said it was good although the water was a bit cold. Will stay here again when we return to visit friends.

I was supposed to go with my friend for her birthday on the 18th and 19th off September unfortunately my friend got a call to go into hospital for a operation which she had been waiting for a year so I was going I was in an accident and broke my ribs I called the hotel to see if I could change the date's they said I couldn't but I could change the names and give it to someone else which I thought was terrible I can't believe that a hotel like that couldn't change your date's so I lost out on it which cost me £430 so disappointed and disgusted with there rules

Dear Jennifer, I really am sorry that you were unable to attend for your reservation but the terms and conditions were made clear to you when out of a miscommunication we made an exception to the terms and conditions and moved the original booking for you. I personally told you that the booking was non-refundable and could not be amended as it was an Advance Purchase booking. However we did say that you could change the name on the booking which you chose not to do. If you wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Kind Regards Gil

What an amazing hotel this is! From the minute we walked through the doors we knew we’d love it. Angela on reception has been amazing. Super helpful and friendly, she’s an absolute star. Room we have is a large twin with a gigantic bath and the best shower I’ve ever experienced! Good room facilities too. Comfy beds, tea tray etc. To the food now. Wow. Breakfast served to order, lovely kind staff who cannot do enough for you. Then last night we stayed for dinner too. I tried the Korean cauliflower and all I can say to that is “wow”. I nearly 😂 licked the plate! The young lady who served us was just lovely. Attentive and helpful. In fact, everyone is efficient, friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. We feel like we are being totally spoilt. The spa facilities are great too, an added bonus. Very relaxing jacuzzi and the hot stone beds are something I’ve not tried before. I had trouble making myself get up to leave, it was so nice lying on them. We are over the moon we have found this hotel and will most definitely book here on our next visit to the area.

We stayed for 3 nights as part of a large family wedding party. Service was outstanding, special thanks to Roseanne for your compassion, care and service. Mel, you put us at ease from the start, loved your honour and banter. Again, great service, even when I asked for a table for 10, changed it 3 or 4 times until I think we had 22 dining. You knew I was destined to be trouble 🤣. Megan Devlin, you too were really friendly and served us well, even though you told tales about my bottle of Prosecco 🤣. Gill, you put up with my requests for an extra too, changing dates etc and it was all done with a smile. Glad I got the opportunity to thank you personally before I left on Saturday To the food now. Breakfast was hit n miss. Day one was excellent, day two disappointing and day 3 mediocre. Dinner on the first night went down well. The wedding meal was excellent. The soup was so tasty, it’s still being spoken about. Wish I had the recipe. Chicken and steak pie were so good as was dessert Although the bar was really busy on Thursday, your staff coped admirably Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The only thing missing was a fridge. One little fly in the ointment was the beauty salon. I had booked the MUA for 10.30 am for my granddaughter and 11.30 am for myself. Somehow, the new booking system had brought the appointments forward and mixed them up. Please go back to pen and paper. The MUA made a beautiful job of our makeup and was so pleasant. Unfortunately I have nothing positive to say about the other staff member I hope to organise the girls to return and have a spa break soon. Till the next time parklands

It really was a pleasure to have you here and a pleasure to work with you to ensure everything worked for you. I have already passed on your kind comments to the staff mentioned and it made them all smile. we had a great time while your party was in the hotel and although the MUA company is separate to the hotel, I can only apologise for any inconvenience and I will pass your comments to them personally. We look forward to welcoming you back for a well deserved spa break in the future. Kind Regards Gil

I always enjoy Parklands but today I was very upset by a member of staff. We were a few ladies dining. Three of us were served while the rest of waited 30 mins before our order was taken. the food was delicious as usual . but when I questioned a staff member, was told that was requested!!!! that was untrue. then I was told not to dine in the restaurant again. We were all astounded by the attitude of this individual. Needless to say I will continue to enjoy my favourite eaterie but hope to be treated with the respect a valued customer expects

I have stayed at Parklands Country Club on many occasions over recent years when I visit home (Glasgow) from London. Its proximity to town and location on the gorgeous south side of the city is perfect for my family. The rooms are large and spacious and extremely well appointed. Definitely a 5* experience. The beds are over sized and super comfy, very fluffy pillows, huge spa like bathrooms and immaculately clean. The restaurant has a great selection of food - and the spa and pool is an extra treat. It is very family friendly and the staff are consistently friendly and very helpful. My family and I will continue to choose this hotel for years to come - due to its excellent location and atmosphere . I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Heather S wrote a review Aug 2023

With family living close by, we have been visiting this 4 star Boutique hotel around 3 times a year for over 7 years now. To begin with and pre-Covid, the hotel ticked all the boxes: Ample parking, clean, spacious, well equipped rooms with comfortable beds, tea/coffee tray and large modern bathrooms some with walk-in shower and bath, good quality toiletries, bathrobes, slippers etc., good breakfast. Staff very efficient and friendly. Everything you could wish for. When the hotel re-opened after Covid, understandably there were a few changes, which we accepted; bathrobes, face flannels and slippers were no longer supplied, limited toiletries of reduced quality, linen and towels began to look and feel a bit tired and worn. Breakfast, which used to be a highlight of the stay had a more limited continental selection and the cooked food appeared to be warmed up rather than freshly prepared. On one visit our wardrobe had its doors missing, on another visit the table was missing and a beverage had been spilled down the wall. These things were mentioned at check-out but never acknowledged other than - "you'd be surprised what guests take home with them as souvenirs!" I guess you might just notice if someone carried a table or wardrobe doors through reception though! Anyway, we liked the hotel, it was convenient for visiting our daughter and we were prepared to overlook these shortcomings and give the place another chance, hoping that things would return to the usual high standard in time. However, during our most recent visit, a most bizarre incident has left us in doubt as to whether we can ever return to this hotel. It was not so much the incident but the way management pretended it never occurred and did not even afford us the courtesy of a reply to our written complaint. So, to the incident: We had travelled from Leeds and arrived at the hotel after 10pm, the night porter/receptionist checked us in. Everything was fine until around 4am when we heard the door handle to our room rattling. Thinking it was someone who had the wrong room and they would soon realise this, we ignored it but the rattling continued and became louder and more persistent. My husband went to the door to tell whoever it was that they had the wrong room but the rattling continued. He peered through the peephole in the door and could see a woman, who appeared rather distressed. He opened the door to tell her she had the wrong room, but she barged in, putting her fingers in-between the door and the frame, so her fingers would have been trapped if we forced the door shut. I called the night porter/receptionist for help. By the time he arrived (we were on the second floor) the woman had forced herself into the room, she was smelling of alcohol and incoherent and she had climbed into the bed and pulled the sheets over herself! ( I did say this was bizarre!) By this time the whole commotion had roused other guests in the corridor including the intruder's husband who appeared in our room and ushered his wife back to their room. No apology, nothing!!!! I asked for clean bed linen and the night porter/receptionist told me that he had to deal with the incident first. I stripped the bed and waited, and waited and then called reception. The night porter/receptionist had to find a key to the linen cupboard, he then delivered clean linen and duvet and left me to make up the bed, he did apologise, saying that the woman was unwell and that the manager would contact me in the morning. At around 5am and facing a long drive the following day we climbed back into bed for a few hours sleep. You would think that the incident would be followed up the following morning but no! At checkout we were asked if we had enjoyed our stay. I asked if a report had been filed about the early morning shenanigans ! I was told yes and was asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. Of course I did! An assistant manager duly arrived and told us we should not have opened the door to the intruder but as a gesture of goodwill they would deduct the breakfast from our bill! Breakfast had not been the problem but lack of sleep before a long drive back had been! I told the assistant manager that I would be writing to the 'unavailable' manager and I have done this - but nearly 3 weeks on I am still awaiting the courtesy of a reply. So to conclude my review: The hotel has sadly lost its way. It is advertised as a 4 star Boutique Hotel and this definitely used to be the case but customer service and satisfaction is everything. You can forgive many shortfalls but not common courtesy.

Dear Heather, We appreciate very much the time taken to review your recent visits. I am pleased you are a repeat customer and have enjoyed numerous stays with us. I am however disappointed to read of your latest experiences not being as you had previously become accustom. As for urgent attention to some of the décor etc, this is something we do indeed work on. As you can imagine, a stain in the carpet or a mark on the wall can actually be done by the most recent guest in the room. With the hotel being so busy as of late, it is impossible to rectify some issues with immediate effect. However, the second floor was actually only painted 13 months ago. Floors 1 and 3 were just finished prior to summer of 2023. We currently stock The Scottish Fine Soaps Companies products which we get many compliments so I can only apologise if the scent is not to your liking. I must also mention that the amenities on offer have not been altered for some time and possibly you may be comparing our Double Deluxe Room with an Executive. Our apologies for the disturbance caused during the night. On departure, the lady concerned informed the reception team that she was prone to sleep walking and did apologise. I believe the Duty Manager on shift was speaking with you at this time or the guest herself would have indeed apologised to you in person. Sleep walking is a disorder and is not something that the hotel can be held responsible for, especially if we were not made aware until departure. We absolutely go above and beyond when we are able and have the correct information. Our Night Receptionist did respond to your call and deal with the incident immediately. Our standard practice is to deal with all emergencies and on this occasion, he deemed the sleep walker as a higher priority. I fully appreciate this did not allow you to get straight back to bed but after my staff knew the customer was safe, he offered a change of sheets (due to no other rooms being available due to the hotel being full) I am sorry that you felt that complimentary breakfast for 4 plus an offer of a discounted rate on your next stay was not sufficient . Unfortunately, we could not rectify the lack of sleep that you mention. Furthermore, I can completely understand your frustration in waiting for a response as all correspondence should be addressed promptly, however, I can confirm that on this occasion I did not receive the email. I have been on to my external I.T provider and they too are unsure to what has gone wrong. For this I must sincerely apologise. Kind Regards Joel Modlin General Manager

I booked a stay with this hotel for a long weekend in September. I booked through Hotels.com with the option to cancel my reservation if my plans changed. I have some mobility issues and am unable to climb into a bath to either have a bath or use a shower over a bath. However, whilst my hip joint is disabling I do not warrant using an 'accessible' room. I wouldn't want to deprive someone with greater need. The photos of the rooms showed a separate shower but I am aware that sometimes the photos are indicative only. I therefore contacted the hotel via the hotels.com messaging app but had a tortuous time trying to get them to confirm that they would allocate me a room with a separate shower in the en-suite. I would not choose to stay somewhere if I was unable to have a proper wash. The communication throughout was poor and contradictory! Eventually, as a 'goodwill' gesture, they allocated me a room with a shower. Of course, by this point I was so fed up with the general unhelpfulness of their attitude that I decided to cancel my reservation both for accommodation and dinner. Who in their right mind would want to stay somewhere following this 'first contact' experience? I did this only after contacting the hotel to speak to a manager. The manager I spoke to didn't seem remotely concerned that the customer service communications were poor. I advised him that I have visited a number of UK hotels this year and have not experienced any difficulty what so ever being allocated a room with a separate shower where one was available. In fact, up to this point, I have found that folk try very hard to be both understanding and accommodating. I have now booked an alternative hotel and when I spoke to them they were immediately very helpful. Obviously, I can't comment on any other element of this hotel's services because I didn't experience any of them.

Dear Stephenie, I am sorry that you found our customer service to be lacking as we had actually aquiesced to your request. As per with all guests the staff had done as instructed and said that we could not guarantee a walk in shower as there are some Deluxe rooms which do have a shower over the bath and the reason we do not guarantee this is in case something happens and we are unable to accommodate the request. To guarantee a walk in shower, booking either an accessible room or Executive Suite is the best way. You do say that in other hotels, you were allocated a walk in shower when available. As we allocate the rooms the day before arrival, there may not have been a room with a walk in shower available which is why we do not guarantee the facility. However, under the circumstances, the staff had actually contacted me at home during my time off to see if we could make an exception for your booking to which I agreed but obviously this was not sufficient for you but had already been done by the time you spoke to our Duty Manager on that evening. Having spoken to him he did say that he did not understand what the problem was as your request had already been granted. We are sorry that you felt the need to cancel your booking but that of course is your prerogative. Kind Regards Gil
