Friendly staff. Nice food. Good value for money. The heating has been broken since summer so bring a coat. Green king are to tight to fix the boiler. Live music some Saturday nights but never advertised so you need to ask the staff. Its a shame its a nice pub that could do so much better with very little effort....

I stayed here for 1 night while I was working in Mildenhall. Rooms were a good size, the beds were comfy and clean. The single radiator in the room was more than enough to keep the room hot on a winter night. The food in the pub was lovely and excellent size portions, too. The only downfall was that the...

I was working locally and went for lunch there twice a week. The staff are lovely. I always ordered the same thing (jacket potato and tuna) and it got so I did not even have to order. A great pub, wholesome food and welcoming staff. Thank you, Bird in Hand! :-)

I've just recently moved to the area so was looking around for new pubs and restaurants to try. This had been recommended but had heard very mixed reviews. We went on an early Sunday evening, I had the mixed grill and my mate had the pie and chips which were both very enjoyable. Service was good and a had very...

Stayed in hotel 2 nights, which was basic, but clean. On arrival after work second night, I ordered food at 8.35, but was told kitchen shut early as they had too many orders! Shortly after that 3 RAF guys who came in after me were served food!!! Complained and was lied to. Also several of bar staff drinking shots behind...

We stayed at the Bird in Hand the room was adequate for what we wanted it for just to lay our heads for the night. The bed was clean and comfortable the bathroom clean. the carpets could do with new ones a bit grubby, shower ceiling was mouldy. But overall it was ok. Had breakfast which was very disorganised as...

First impressions, the place looks pretty awful inside and out. But lets be honest, it is cheap, very cheap. The sheets were clean and the shower was hot, that's all you can really expect. But it actually delivers a little more; it has proper fridge which is great, there's plenty of parking near your door, and it's also part of...

Disgusting place to stay. Doors to rooms are broken, wall paper peeling off walls, floors not cleaned, TV's not tuned, low signal... Showers not working properly. Food microwaved nastiness. Staff are okay, but there is not investment into the quality of the rooms. So many repairs needed. It is just here to rip off American service men and their families....

Nice small english hotel right across the street from the Air base. The rooms are a little small (american standard's), but the friendly staff and the in hotel pub makes up for that. A must stay for budget minded travelers. a short cab ride to the train station. Also with any English pub if someone comes up to you and...

“All the rooms were on the ground floor and some days were fully booked. The pub is opposite an American air force base and is used a lot by its personal. It is roughly two and a half miles from Mildenhall village a place well worth a visit, and about thirteen miles from Newmarket.”
