We chose the Bell for our wedding as it had everything we wanted. The food is of a very high standard and as good as anything you would find in a top London restaurant. Mark and his team made us feel so welcome and was always in contact when we had silly questions. The staff set up the venue exactly as we wanted, without any need for us to worry. The choice of drinks in the bar catered for all tastes and were well priced. We he room's are of a beautiful standard and every single one of our guests wants to

We were a family of 7 including a one year old and with our family Labrador celebrating a 60th birthday. The staff at The Bell are superb, friendly and professional from the first phone call to check out. The hotel is beautifully decorated both public rooms and bedrooms. The baby’s cot had been made up to be cosy and the dog left some treats. All lovely touches and showed attention to detail and care. Bar and restaurant cosy with lovely log fires. We ate in the bar because of the dog but we enjoyed the relaxed setting. The food is excellent... the chef and team produced a superb dinner and breakfast was freshly cooked. Homemade granola from the kitchen delicious. Good choice of local beer and wines. It was a perfect hotel to celebrate a special family occasion. Exceeded expectations. We were very sorry to leave and wished we’d booked another night.

The staff are without exception friendly and very helpful, really made my stay a pleasure. The room even though it was one of the smaller cheaper ones was spacious, extremely clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated. I would recommend asking for a room away from the roadside if as I do you like your windows open. There is double glazing and the road wasn’t too busy, nor with open windows did the traffic keep me awake, but I think in busy times it would be quieter the other side of the pub. The en suite bathroom was great with love big soft towels and the bed really comfortable- not too hard nor too spongy! The menu was very limited if you are plant based or vegan but there were options and breakfast was really fresh and tasty. The staff again tried really hard to help and were very flexible about changing things. I would encourage the chef to extend their plant based options - many of their options would easily adapt, as more people are choosing that. Apart from that I would highly recommend the place to stay - I certainly enjoyed my stay there.

We arrive to a mediocre welcome, a big lacking of staff, sat at our table not the main dining room, although the meal well cooked and scallops for starters , the rest of the meal fell below expectations, the service was completely below par, we had to ask for appropriate cutlery for each course even butter with the cheese board , ordered a good quality wine which was just dumped on the table. To sum up for £120 per head this was no better than a works Xmas lunch for £25 . We have eaten here before the new owners took over, such a shame they couldn’t get it together.

My stay was predominately structured myself as I was playing golf tournaments in the area for a couple days.
As for check-in the staff were very friendly always with a smile on their face. Shirley, in particular, is who I met at the desk. She was very helpful and even offered to help me with my bags to my loft room!
The communication before my stay was spot on through booking.com, any pre arrival questions were answered promptly. In particular I needed a mini- fridge to keep some milk in my room as I was leaving each morning before breakfast was served downstairs. This was accommodated and very much appreciated.

The room was average, decor was pretty basic but had most things you needed. I was in a loft room so notably the entrance to the bathroom was quite a squeeze and I’m not very tall at 5ft 8. The bathroom was clean and modern enough. The bath with a shower was a nightmare to keep the bathroom dry as the water would go everywhere. Something that needs to be looked at.
Additionally when wanting to take my golf bag to my room to sort through it for the following day, I was told that there is a rule of no golf bags taken to the rooms and when I asked why this was the case I didn’t even get an explanation! Just “we’ve had this rule for a long time” and “that’s why we provide lockers” which I thought was very odd and doesn’t make it right. Having travelled the world with my golf clubs I’v never been told I cant have them in my room…. Something management needs to consider.

As for dinner, this was served behind the back of the bar, albeit in a small area but enjoyable enough. The food was OK, certain dishes looked better than others. I had the pappardelle pasta with goats cheese for my main both nights and started with lamb croquettes and soup of the day respectively. All of which were lovely and not short of some flavour!
My only complaint is how they had one girl taking orders, bringing the food out and taking payment from upwards of 8 tables. This resulted in quite slow service between courses and even just to get a drink was proving difficult. It sort of put you off from wanting to ask for anything as you felt it would just take too long.
Additionally the menu was quite long winded and hence I asked for some help with it, maybe some recommendations? Both girls I asked on two separate occasions didn’t know the menu or how the food was presented, so couldn’t be of much assistance is that department. This needs to be addressed especially if the hotel wants to pride itself as a 4* and also charging the prices they do to stay with them… There has to be some value exchange!

Overall it was a nice enough stay, I wasn’t in and around the hotel much during the day, only for dinner, so can’t comment on the general atmosphere at times other than the evening.
Would recommend for location (New Forest) and general service. But a few things need to be addressed if paying the room rates makes it feel
worthwhile.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights along with our dog. From the moment you get in the door you feel most welcome. This really is a superb country hotel and inn, tastefully decorated, comfortable rooms, attentive and friendly staff, and fabulous food. We ate in the bar as we had our dog and felt very comfortable there, I think they have a good balance of being dog friendly but also having areas where dogs are not allowed so everyone is kept happy. This is the kind of place where you will leave refreshed, relaxed and ready to rebook and sets the Gold standard to which all future hotels will have to live up to!

I booked our stay at the Bell Inn for my partner as a Christmas present. We love going for walks in the New Forest so the Bell Inn was the perfect location. Neither of us had ever visited the hotel before so didn’t know what to expect. We were completely blown away and could not have asked for a more!

When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely lady on the reception desk who checked us in. She said we ‘were in for a treat’ when she told us where our room was. To our surprise we had been upgraded to the most wonderful suite! We could not be more delighted with the room. There was everything you could ever need: a beautiful sleigh bed, dressing table, sofa and large wardrobe. The room looked out onto the gardens which was especially lovely. The bathroom was huge, a double-sized bath and separate walk-in rainforest shower.

We also had dinner in the hotel that evening. Our waiter was very attentive and polite. The food was superb, very well presented and tasted amazing! We were amazed at the standard and said we would be eager to return on another special occasion.

The next morning we enjoyed our lovely breakfast. Our waiter was again very attentive and kind and made sure we had everything we wanted. The breakfast was delicious and there was lots to choose from. We particularly enjoyed the cooked breakfast and pastries.

Overall I would give the Bell inn full marks all round. My partner was so pleased with the entire stay. I agree, from start to finish we were made to feel so special by every single member of the team. The facilities are exceptional and more than anything we could have ever asked for. We only wish we could have stayed for longer!

On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful receptionist. All other staff that we encountered on our stay were also warm and welcoming and willing to help. I honestly can not fault the staff.

When we entered our room we were greeted by a wall of heat. It was so hot I felt like I was in a sauna. I understand it has been cold recently but it was 10 degrees out and the the radiator was turned up full. I usually walk around barefoot luckily we were dumping our stuff and going straight back out as there were tiny pieces of glass on the bathroom floor. We picked them up and the lady on reception kindly vacuumed whilst we were out to make sure there none left.

The bed has honestly seen better days. The mattress was sagging on both sides and definitely needs replacing. The duvet does not fit the whole duvet cover nor does the pillow fit the pillow case.

The continental breakfast is just cereal. You have been warned!!!

We stayed here for two nights in February this year, everything about it was faultless, really comfy room, beautiful location and the food (breakfast and dinner) where exceptional. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, made us feel really relaxed and welcome.
we have stayed at lots of different New Forest hotels and value for money this wins hands down over the others, highly recommend.

Such a shame as it’s a great location, staff are welcoming and property is very pretty but the rooms don’t reflect the rather cosy and modern interior the website does. The room felt so bare with minimal amenities (bring your own conditioner, hand towel, flannel, robes, slippers and hair dryer if you don’t like using one from the 80s screwed into the drawer). The Wi-Fi also isn’t enough to stream the TV in the room. The mattress was clearly quite old and well used and we had a really uncomfortable nights sleep so ended up leaving early with no offer to refund or maybe try a different room from reception.

It has great potential but seems to be lacking investment or care in certain areas. There are better hotels in the area elsewhere.

Hmmm that’s a difficult question to answer, I would suggest giving them a quick call, as they would be able to give the true and reliable answer. Good luck, (and by the way; in my opinion this venue is absolutely amazing in many ways).
