Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

To be honest we were surprised on our arrival to find that the "guesthouse" was in fact a collection of 5 cabins and a restaurant. The cabins are in fact semi's with two cabins per building but they seemed to be well soundproofed. Each one comprises a bedroom area with a table and chairs and a small cooking area. We only used the cooker to heat water for tea and coffee (provided). The beds were comfortable and the shower was powerful. Meals were taken in the restaurant. The evening meal had to be selected when a booking was made and the breakfast was a buffet. Both were excellent. The accommodation is set in the countryside and the cabins had great views.

This place is very nice! We were here for 2 nights. The lady is very helpfull and has good tips for tourists.

The cabins are small but fine. Nice beds and clean.

Breakfest was very good. Salmon, toast, fresh bread etc...

Close to many highlights like Dettifoss!

The room was better than expected, unfortunately we had 2 single beds (which we pushed together of course), but the bathroom was clean and there was enough space for our luggage. Huge bonus: There was a small kitchen with a fridge, stove, tea pot and sink. The kitchen was fully stocked, but we never used it.

The reason for never using the kitchen is simple: The hotel had some of the best food we had on our 14-day-trip, and the price was extremely reasonable - around 3000 ISK for a 3 course dinner menu, often including a buffet. The portions were very big and we were always happy with the quality.

The breakfast was very good, there was homemade jam, delicious fish, smoked salmon, and cookies! It was much better than in most of the other hotels on our trip.

At night we had a good view of the northern lights, as the hotel is located in a very quiet and rural area.

If we come back to northern Iceland, we will definitely stay here again!

Very small room. Surface 13 m2 including bathroom and 'kitchen'. 30 km to Myvatn and 30 km to Husavik. No coffee shop, supermarket or restaurant in the proximity. You have to walk 200 m to the breakfast room. If it's raining you get wet getting there and agian going back...Water in bath stinks of sulphur.

Just to mention to the beginning, the "Guesthouse" is located in a VERY quiet and rural area.

On our arrival we were quiet supprised that we were given a "lodge" with private facilities eventhough we had booked a room in a Guesthouse without private facilities.
The "lodge" was small with two single beds (which we pushed together), a small table and a very small cooking area. The bathroom was small, basic but clean. No modern or luxury interiour at all.
There was no TV in the room and WiFi (or Internet at all) was not available in the "lodge".

The owner informed us on arrival that everything we need for breakfast was in the fridge in the "lodge" and that we should help ourselfs. She also said that it would be enough for a whole week.
Well, on the one hand this is quiet nice as you don't have to get up at a certain time but on the other hand the owner is making her life very easy with this. And the breakfast was barely enough for two mornings.
We stayed there two nights and didn't see her again after arrival.
Therefore the title "Guesthouse" is not what it is supposed to be and not what we have experienced before in other Guesthouses in Iceland.

Overall, we can recommend this "Guesthouse/Lodge" to couples who don't mind a basic accommodation away from "civilization".

And we don't recommend it to people who like a certain level of service and a higher standart.

Personally we didn't dislike the accommodation but we wouldn't come back either.

Nice accommodation, but not very soundproof. Wooden huts in pairs on a platform - when the neighbors came home at midnight the floor was shaking. Small kitchenette with coffee facilities. Early breakfast because of the forest tour was no problem. And delicious.
