From start to finish the whole wedding party was treat amazingly. I have never felt so special.

Firstly due to covid our wedding reception was moved three times and Carrie-Anne made sure everything was sorted. No request was to big and she made me and my husband feel so special even though I can imagine how stressful this time has been for her too. Yet Carrie-Anne made us feel none of this stress.

The views are amazing and it was the extra touches which made the day so special. Carrie-Anne herself decorated the room and it was just magical! The team behind the bar where very engaging and made you feel like they really wanted to help make your day special. They constantly checked in to ensure I was having a lovely day. I have never met a bunch of people who all looked so happy to be at work. Every single person behind the bar are so talkative and gave 100 percent into the night, which helped to make the day so much more magical.

Due to last minute changes the wedding coordinator Beth sorted everything out and made my life so much easier. I was having a melt down due to people dropping out but Beth made sure everything was plain sailing. She truly looked after me on the day of the wedding and constantly ensure my needs where met. Beth went above and beyond and some more.

I literally have no words to say about the team which helped look after the wedding party all day. They truly made the day amazing. They interacted with all the guest and genuinely looked as if they where having just as much of an amazing day. They team constantly checked in with me and the husband to see if they could do anything else for us. Brung drinks over so I didn’t have to wait at the bar. We never ran out of water on the table and even put out juice for the none drinkers. These touches made the my husbands parents really happy.

The team also helped when I was too warm fanning me down and reinsuring me everything is ok. Honestly it’s the little touches which really made the day for me.

I highly recommend The Fleece for any occasion or even a meal the food is to die for.

Thank you again to your wonderful team.

Hayley and Adam

My partner and I visited yesterday as we are looking for a wedding venue. The staff initially had no idea why we were there. The young man who served us at the bar was exceptional, he was chatty, polite and attentive. We mentioned our wedding, he advised us about the wedding area, organised a booklet for us and a little while after Freya showed us round. The Inn was very busy with dinners yet everyone still had time for us. Freya was very helpful, gave us lots of advice, we came away feeling very positive. If we don’t have our wedding reception here as we have lots of places to see we will certainly return for a meal and an over night stay. Lovely establishment, great service, food looked fantastic. Well worth a visit.

Mark (the GM) and his team were polite, pleasant and professional throughout the 5 days I was there. Each member of staff behaved in a courteous and friendly manner and even for those wining and dining on their own, everyone was made to feel very welcome.

Bedrooms were very comfortable, and the resident's accommodation block was very well insulated against the cold night air and any potential traffic noise and so a good night's sleep is almost guaranteed.

A special mention for the kitchen staff and the extremely high standard of food being served. I tried several different courses and without exception, they were all delicious.

If you feel like treating yourself to a special meal, then this is such a good choice of venue. If required they can offer private function rooms however, the everyday general restaurant was excellent and I'm very much looking forward to my next visit there.

Nice in public areas. Very clean and well decorated.
Stopped in room 6 . Incredibly small even for one never mind two.
No chair in the room so impossible to sit and work.
If my wife was with me she would be very annoyed as no dressing table and mirror, so impossible to do hair and makeup.
Food was only so,so seen a couple of plates being scraped off with a lot of food left on..
It's a shame as my first impression was very, very good.
One real difficult thing for someone who is on business, you have to pay for your food and drinks each night. Can’t remember ever doing this at any other hotel!!
Really makes doing your expenses a nightmare!!!!! When I have stopped away 20 nights in a month, this system means I have 20 receipts to enter instead of 4.

Please note, by 9.15 in the evening the bar staff had cleared down the bar and had wrapped the beer taps in cling film — I guess that means your closed!!

One last thing, if you a working guy like myself, no breakfast till 8 so will be leaving with out it.

I stop in Nice hotels 150 nights a year so I know what I would expect. Its a real shame, its a nice place let down by really stupid stuff.

Found this hotel by driving past one day on the way back from Eureka. Stayed here for 1 night over the August bank holiday. Initially we was put in the wrong room as I had requested a bath on booking. Staff was extremely helpful and always went the extra mile, changing our room was no issue for them. We had a 2 course evening meal which was excellent and the best steak I've ever had. Rooms was very spacious and comfy. We had breki the following morning which was lovely. Proper fresh products. Will be staying here again, such a hidden gem.

Went for Sunday lunch on my wife’s birthday . We wouldn’t normally have a roast as it’s never the same as home, but my wife thoroughly enjoyed it. I on the other hand opted for liver on a bed of mash which to me was an amazingly small amount for the same price as the roast which was a much larger serving containing roast potatoes as well as a larger portion of mash. Certainly an imbalance but have to say it was tasty etc.. Sticky toffee pudding was very dry. Dined several times before but not sure how long it will be before going again. Service not great but have to say it was extremely busy and staff were working hard .

We booked the Fleece last minute for Mother’s Day, not realising there would not be the A La Carte menu on offer. So for £35 for 3 courses we reluctantly ordered. High expectations but sadly the food was average and the service not so good. The Fleece is in a fabulous location however this is the 2nd time I have eaten there in recent months and the food fails to live up to expectations for the price. We paid £35 each for 3 courses, at best it was worth £25. I won’t be eating there again as there are much better value Venues in the vicinity. What a shame! Either up the quality or drop the price, you can’t rely on the location for ever!

The Fleece Inn is located within stunning rolling hills, it’s very beautiful and the sunsets are great. The rooftop terrace is great for a drink, however the service can be a bit slow. We ate in the restaurant downstairs and the food was really nice with a good selection of drinks to choose from. The room I had (room 6) was decorated really nicely and was very clean, however the bathroom was a bit of a squeeze, but lovely and modern all the same. Breakfast was good, great choice (served from 8.30am weekdays). The only issue with the rooms is that you can hear the noise from the bar until quite late.

I travelled here for work, so I can't really comment on value etc as it was all free. Also, I was in room 3.

The staff were great. Very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is meant to start at 8am (which I thought was quite late) but they let us order the night before so it would be a bit early so we could get to the office on time.

The room was nice. I liked the decor, and it was well-appointed with an iron, an extension lead in a drawer, tea and coffee, etc. The bathroom had a tray for the bath you could prop a book up on, and bottles of shampoo, conditioner, etc. Also the radiator was great, I was very cosy.

The food was expensive (I wouldn't have ordered dinner there if it was my own money) but REALLY good. I ended up getting the same meal two nights in a row, it was some of the best food I've had in months.

The reason I'm giving it four stars is two-fold. First, the bathroom was tiny. It wouldn't have been comfortable at all for a bigger person. I'm reasonably slim but I had to go in sideways to avoid getting stuck between the sink and the doorframe. Also, I came on my period on the last night of the trip and didn't have any menstrual products with me so I asked at the front desk, but they didn't have any. I was really surprised, I've never stayed at a hotel that didn't have a few pads or tampons tucked away somewhere in case somebody needed them.

So, I wouldn't recommend for bigger patrons but otherwise a really good stay.

We tried the Fleece on the recommendation of a chap at the New Hobbit as we’d originally booked two nights there but when we arrived there was a power cut which made us cancel the booking. What a great decision it turned out to be we were lucky because they had a room so we booked it and decided to eat in the restaurant that evening. Staff were exceptional and very attentive and the food was top notch I really can’t recommend it enough. When it was time to check out the next day I knew the day before they’d told me they were full I just asked if perhaps they’d had any cancellation’s and they had so I was able to book again for that night but this time I booked bed, breakfast and evening meal and got a great deal. We will be going back to eat there as the food was that good and if your ever over that way try to book in for a night or two because the location, venue and staff are brilliant.

The Fleece is a hotel also but I don’t know about the accommodation. There are a few small pubs in the area that have rooms there is a premier Inn at Ainley top at the M62 junction but for nearness I would look at the Ripponden area Stainland and Holywell Green areas

Go to the other side of the valley through Ripponden towards the White House pub. Along the bridleway near there is one of Simon Armitage's poems on the rocks.
