Great: -The food here was great and better certainly better than at a native Malagasy hotel. -The walk to the Indian ocean and near by small lake was enjoyable -Beaches are deserted -The nearby reserve has a good assortment of 5+ types of lemurs and guides to call/feed them -In addition they have canoes and single person lake kayaks to... First stop on a tour with Steppes travel .reached after a 3 hr trip by boat along the Pangalenes Canal . room overlooking the lake with lovely view , charm was its remote location , yet the facilities were ..quite acceptable . The food was good , and the cook makes the best desserts we had in a 12 day... More

I have never been to a place so unspoiled by the western world. To get to it you drive down a mud track for 40minutes and then get a boat for a further hour but it's worth it. The bungalows are basic but clean and are right on the beach with a wonderful view and welcome breeze. Numerous insects seemed... More

We were lucky enough to have bungalows overlooking the lake so the views and setting was idyllic (beware though older bungalows with no views are also on offer...). However the rest of the stay was very disappointing - terrible food and unprofessional service mean that we will not be returning - especially given the elevated prices. The hotel has been... More

Bush House is situated literally in the middle of nowhere. It can only be reached by boat so you really feel you’ve left the modern world behind. It has basic but clean wooden chalet style accomodation facing onto the lake and backed by forest complete with lemurs. Across the lake or a half hour walk away is the Palmarium reserve... More

Lovely location, amazing trip through the lakes to get here and enjoyed the two nights spent here. The food was exceptional given the location, and the Zebu steak was the best we had in Madagascar. Can recommend the trip across lake to see the Indian Ocean, also the walk to see the local village, the kids are amazing. My wife... More

Bush House is a remote lodge on a lake along the Pangalanes Canal south of Tamatave. We spent two nights there in early October 2008 and enjoyed it immensely - it was one of the highlights of our visit to Madagascar, with the very best meal we had on the entire trip. The review below is long because no one... More
