My husband and I stayed here for two nights in August, one of which was our wedding anniversary. From start to finish it was all absolutely superb. Yes, it does take a while to get there from the main roads, but my goodness it is definitely worth it. The accommodation is delightful and the owners so hospitable and welcoming. The... More

I was at La Roussiere with my daughter for one week this June. Excellent place to stay at Cantal. The atmosphere was perfect and Christian's advices very useful. La Roussiere is the place, where I would like to come back.

This couldn't have been a nicer start to our holidays in France. we stayed for 4 nights en route to the Languedoc. We received a warm welcome (rather late in the evening!) The rooms were spacious, superbly furnished and comfortable (and impeccably clean). The food was delicious and we still dream of the lovely aperitifs - we never made it... More

Attentive from the moment of our arrival, Christian & Brigitte were excellent hosts. Our spacious room was on the second floor with a wonderful view down the valley- ensuite are double wash basins, bath and shower, with a separate toilet (a thoughtful touch). The bed was comfortable with expensive bed-linen, a large antique wardrobe contained all of our clothes, there... More

Brigitte and Christian run a really wonderful house. The building has been very tastefully renovated with excellent attention to style. Lots of interesting pieces. The main living room has a huge fireplace , comfy sofas and big stone flagstone floor. Meals are delicious and it is a treat to share these with other guests and the hosts. Walks are available... What could be nicer than an extremely comfortable room in a very interesting renovated old farmhouse at the end of a road in very attractive countryside. Then in addition there is the welcome and hospitality from Brigitte and Christian, the pre dinner aperos and the dinner "en commun" around the table in the kitchen, with a meal prepared with great... As you walk through the door of La Roussiere the house almost seems to breathe 'welcome'. This lovingly restored farmhouse captures the spirit of warmth and homeliness which hosts Christian and Brigitte extend to you, their guests. From the convivial pre-dinner aperitif with the family and other guests where stories and experiences are shared and all are politely patient with... More

Our third stop in the Auvergne - this time in the Cantal department - was spent at La Roussière (2 nights in April 2013). After a stunning drive through the Parc naturel régional des Volcans d'Auvergne - and a visit to the very picturesque village of Tournemire (one of the 'plus beaux villages en France') - we arrived at La... We have spent 2 nights at la Roussiere, this was the 5th stage of a road trip across France and we really wished we had planned to stay longer in this very comfortable and welcoming "maison d'hotes". La Roussiere is the last house at the end of the road, surrounded by fields away from any kind of pollution. Christian and... More

We spent two weeks at this haven of peace and tranquility in the Cantal. From our day of arrival until our departure Christian and Brigitte made every effort to ensure our holiday was perfect. Our room was spacious, immaculately clean and furnished and, like the rest of this beautiful old farmhouse, full of charm and character. Breakfasts were delicious with... More
