Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband, his sister and brother-in-law as part of a popular gift experience. Was a little apprehensive as some previous reviews weren't too favourable but overall was pleasantly surprised. The pub is in a quiet village location with a large green and a flock of resident geese. It has a large car park, free wifi and plenty of outside seating. Rooms are in what was once the stable block. My husband and I stayed in room 6. It is a decent sized room with a double bed and sofa and was well equipped with kettle, tea/coffee/hot chocolate etc., small fridge, tv, iron/ironing board, hairdryer, electric fan and small additional heater. There were pump dispensers for soap, body wash and shampoo in the bathroom. Decor was a little dated but room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. All the staff we encountered were cheerful and friendly. As part of our deal, dinner was included on the first evening, a choice of 3 courses from the main menu. Portions were generous and nicer than anticipated, given previous reviews. At breakfast there was a selection of fruit juices, cereals, grapefruit and prunes plus a choice of cooked breakfast and tea/coffee. Breakfast was well cooked and poached eggs perfect on both mornings. On the second evening I had the lamb madras with rice from the main menu and naan bread as an optional extra. Portion size was good and the curry was homemade, very tasty and the lamb tender. The others all opted for cottage pie from the specials menu (2 courses for £13 or 3 for £15) and portion size was small by comparison. Beyton is only a short distance from the market town of Bury St. Edmund's where we spent a very pleasant day during our stay.

Very good food, very friendly service, excellent value for money. Foid arrives on hot plates, often over looked. Vegetables served in dish for table. The whitebait is truly a treat. Five people very well fed and watered for less than 20 pounds each.

Lovely stay, warm welcome, comfy room, safe motorcycle parking.
Stayed on a Friday evening, pub wasn’t overly crowded and although the rooms overlook the beer garden, it was all quiet by 9pm.
Dinner was quick and simple pub grub, with polite service. Everyone wants to make sure you’re happy and seem to.
Room 1 is adequate and comfortable with all the amenities you’d expect, and slightly quieter than the other rooms although you hear a little traffic outside.
Breakfast was a full English with cereals and fruit and was perfect.
Top service. Would stay here again.

What a fiasco. I stayed here a year ago in room 2. Ok, except for the huge illuminated fire exit sign which was so bright at night you could read your book by it. I rang up and specifically asked not to be put in room 2. When I arrived this time, guess where I was taken. No note of the phone conversation had been made.
I was given room 6. Which is where the fiasco started. When I was eventually in the room( key didn't work as the lock appears to have been put in my someone with no skill whatsoever, it didn't even line up)The room is tired and dirty. The duvet cover was ripped with dried bloodstain on the sheets and black mould around bath and windows. The bed is hard and uneven as one of the wheels is broken. The sofa was old and had a blanket on it to try and make it look better. No one did the room in three nights, just topped up tea, etc.
The pub garden was full on a sunny weekend, with revellers a mere 6ft away from your front door until closing time, not nice.
The absolute ultimate was not being to get into my room on 5 seperate occasions, culminating in being locked IN the room on the Sunday morning. The cleaner had to climb in through the window and her and the grumpy landlady spent a good 15 mins trying to open the door.
What would have happened if there was a fire??
I ate in what is laughably referred to as the restaurant. It's the back room of the pub. Tables are bare of varnish, clearly not been touched since covid. The menu was straight from the 80's. Far too much food and very bland. my salmon with sesame and ginger sounded ok. till it arrived. It was served with no visible sesame or ginger, dry as a bone and with the wrong potatoes. When I commented I was told "That's what you ordered". No, it wasn't. Who served Asian style food with peas carrots and overcooked cabbage, no rice, people who say the food is good astound me.
When I complained about the awful room I was offered £50 off, eventually she gave me £100 off the total bill, but with no apology whatsoever.
For £100 a night, this place is ridiculously bad.

The room was dirty, the shelves falling off the wall in the bathroom and they overcharged me by 450.00. It took two weeks of arguments to get my money back. The quilt was tiny and did not cover my feet and they had no hangers for the wardrobe. No breakfast before 7:30 but still charge for it.

I haven’t been to the white horse for a meal for a long while and went in for lunch with my 22 month old daughter, and I couldn’t have been greeted more warmly. The young man behind the bar is a credit to you as is the lovely lady who chatted to my daughter and brought her books while we waited for our food. And the food was fantastic. We both had the toad in the hole which had proper homemade Yorkshire puddings, quality sausages and lovely mash and veg. Plus the gravy was great. And the sticky toffee cheesecake was fantastic. Good home cooked food, served with a smile. Will most defiantly be going back and supporting my local pub. Well done to all involved in making our visit one to remember.

During our stay we ate two breakfasts and two dinners and the food was excellent on each occasion. Well cooked and presented at reasonable prices.
The service was also top class with all the staff being friendly, helpful and polite. Nothing was too much trouble.
