The Abalone Guest House is the perfect place to break away from the hustle and bustle of city life and to experience the luxuries of peace and serenity. It is situated in Jacobsbaai on the West Coast of South Africa, halfway between Saldanha and Vredenburg. It is a beautiful seaside village, sometimes referred to as the "Namaqualand of the West Coast." It has a 2 km coastline with rocky and sandy bays which edge against a deep-blue ocean. Only 145 km (1 1/2 hours drive) from Cape Town. It is centrally situated to explore the breathtaking West Coast region and its attractions, such as Yzerfontein, Langebaan, West Coast National Park, Saldanha, Paternoster, St Helenabaai, Velddrif, Dwarskersbos, Elandsbaai and many more. Jacobsbaai is a fisherman's paradise with the Atlantic Ocean providing an abundance of seafood. The beach is ideal for a stroll, a swim or just to sit and enjoy the view. Those looking for more active adventures can partake in hiking, kite surfing, mountain biking or surfing. The guest house offers rooms on a bed and breakfast basis as well as self-catering units which are ideal for families or couples looking for a bit more privacy. Meals can be arranged for those staying in the self-catering units. All of the rooms have wonderful views of the ocean. All guests have access to a cosy lounge centered around a roaring fireplace, which is so welcoming during the winter months. The lounge has Wi-Fi for those wanting to keep up to date on emails. There is also outdoor built-in braai areas with firewood. Jacobsbaai has the effect of bringing one back to the things which are important and lasting in life. Jacobsbaai is the definitive West Coast experience.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent the most wonderful week in this idyllic place. We rented all but one of the units being a large group. Super comfortable beds, fabulous showers. Fully equipped kitchen in the larger unit. It was just absolutely fabulous! The host Malinda made sure we had everything needed. All the rooms have a beautiful view or the ocean and we regularly spotted whales. We went for long walks along the beautiful coastline. Lots of al fresco lunches and dinners on the veranda. One of the best holidays I have ever had and I highly recommend Abalone!!!!! Will be back!

Awesome place with great views of ocean. Spacious and tastefully decorated rooms with own braai area. Breakfast is average. And cutlery in room could do with a better wash. Rates are competitive for the quality of stay.

We were fortunate to have stayed 5 nights at the Abalone Guesthouse in Jakobsbaai. We stayed in the Perlemoen and Bokkom units which has an interleading door. The top section can do with a bit more privacy to screen you from the people using the living room area, but is was not uncomfortable. The location is stunning with beautiful sea views. Breakfast was superb and Juanita and her personnel were very friendly and helpful. The units were clean and neat with free WiFi. It was the ideal location to explore the West Coast region and we enjoyed our stay very much. We can highly recommend staying at Abalone Guesthouse and would love to do so again.

Our group of twelve stayed one night at this delightful guesthouse with charming rooms, many of which overlooked the sea. All the homes and buildings in this village display different and beautiful architecture and all are painted white which almost made it seem like a painting. The dinner and breakfast here were delicious and food was plentiful. The manager had a fire going in the great room. In the afternoon we took a 20-minute nature walk along the bluffs and saw many pretty wildflowers.

Wonderful staff, lovely breakfast, I only do toast but the rest of group fully enjoyed the cooked breakfast, beautiful rooms nicely decorated and lovely linen and towels. Annoyed that trip advisor insist review must be 200 characters long to submit this review, Personally think less is more! Sorry Abalone Guest House but will be adding lots of xxxxx

Just an amazing experience. You will be awakened to life transforming views of picturesque moment to moment sunsets, smooth yet rough and melodious bustling of the Atlantic Ocean and the heavenly breath of tranquility. It is a life worth experiencing.

We had our wedding at this amazing venue and booked the whole guesthouse for our family and friends. Everything was perfect, from the rooms, cleanliness, to the service and amazing sunsets. We had total privacy and should we needed anything, assistance was just a call away. We had a perfect time and will never forget this special place. We will be back!
