Stayed for 2 nights with friends so we could go to Thursford Show. Really friendly welcome and food really good. Nothing too much trouble for the hosts. Offered an early evening meal on the Saturday so that we could eat before the show which was much appreciated. Lovely restaurant and bar with log burner so really cosy. Adequate parking Would... We stayed for a wedding in one of the neighbouring venues. Despite checkin not being until early afternoon, the staff kindly arranged for us to collect the keys earlier in the day. Our room was located at the top of the house and was perfectly sized for two people. The bathroom, although a strange layout, featured a spacious and powerful... More

The food at the blue boar is exceptional. Every course we had was a delight. Laura, the owner, was attentive without being "in your face". The waiting staff were polite and efficient. The layout gave you room to move, but close enough to talk to should you wish. All in all, a very good evening out. The " nearly" bit... More

We stayed overnight to attend a wedding in the area. The local area is beautiful, classic English countryside. When you add the night's stay at the Blue Boar Inn it was a truly exceptional trip - the owners and staff were lovely, they arranged an early check in for us with ease and the breakfast was sensational! Wonderful little place,... More

We came here without booking as it was not our intenion to stop but decided at the last minute to see what it's like. The place is always popular we hear and diners tend to book so we didn't expect to get a table but the landlady was very welcoming and found us a place. There is a very good... More

Honestly my fav restaurant in Norfolk. I honestly cannot fault this place. Laura is so lovely and the food is always not and fresh. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I had my best-friends surprise me for my 18th birthday here and honestly couldn't thank everything they and the staff did for me. I suffer from coeliac disease and Laura... More

Good family meal here and attentive service. don't know how they remember the huge amount of specials as well as extensive usual list. Seafood platter was lovely, crab, mackerel salmon and fresh prawns derved with new potatoes and good fish and chips. Very quick service though slow wifi and has a car park to rear and out door pub tables.... More

We arrived here on the evening prior to our pilgrimage to Walsingham. After our long journey, we received a warm welcome and were shown our accommodation which was more than adequate. The room was clean and comfortable with an excellent En-suite bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities were well stocked. Having forgotten to pack toothbrushes, our host was even able... More

Visited one Thursday evening for the steak night offer.Very good value for the money, very welcoming staff to this old village pub .Well decorated and kept interior slightly let down by the first impression of a bit scruffy exterior garden, but don't be put off it is well worth eating there.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Blue Boar Inn is a coaching inn dating from 1685. Bought in 2008 by us, James and Melinda, this listed building has been lovingly restored. The bar has a beamed ceiling and an inglenook fireplace which has a roaring fire on colder days. In the summer you can relax in the beer garden and hopefully enjoy the sunshine! The garden is fully enclosed and has swings & toys for the children. The restaurant can seat up to 50 diners and can be booked for parties and functions. Our food is locally sourced as much as possible, with our pork produced next door at "Perfick Pork", beef from Binham, crabs and mussels (when in season) from Brancaster to mention but a few! James is the chef and has worked at many well know restaurants in Norfolk as well as working in Australia, New Zealand and Bermuda. We have five en-suite bedrooms, and these have been tastefully and comfortably decorated, each with tea / coffee making facilities, free wifi, hairdryer and colour TV. Our aim is to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible, so if there is anything we may have overlooked, please do not hesitate to ask, we will do our very best to accommodate you. ... more   less
