Carter Caves is hands down our favorite place to go, we went camping again this past weekend at their camp ground. Friendly staff, very nice facilities (Considering your camping, not staying at some expensive hotel) We kayaked on the lake and fished with family, mountain biked their multi-use trails, played on the tennis court, and played in the creeks with...

As avid hikers we went to Carter's cave because we were running out of places in the Midwest that we hadn't been to. The hikes ranged from short to long and were scenic. The cave tours are a "must see" for day two! Beautiful park overall and the lodge wasn't fancy but wasn't a hole in the walk either Small...

Our group of 10 tent camped over the Memorial day weekend. The even numbered campsites in the 100 range were large and accommodated our large group. The fire pits are a nice stone circle and good firewood is available at the camp store but we bought more wood for less money from local vendors. The bathrooms were somewhat unclean but the...

I've been to many Kentucky State Parks, and this was my first visit to Carter Caves State Resort. Needless to say, I was very satisfied! It's located far enough from the main road to feel like you're secluded away from the world, but close enough for conveniences. The rooms are a bit dated, but they cater to primarily hikers and...

Just 5 miles off I-64, our lodge room was spotless, comfortable, roomy, exceptionally quiet and super economical. Deer off the private deck, nothing but Forest as far as the eye can see. What a great change of pace on a long road trip.

Our family stayed in the lodge for two nights in October. The lodge is old but the rooms have been renovated fairly recently. This isn't a fancy place but it has all of the amenities of any standard hotel. The beds are doubles not queen size so take that into consideration. The lodge is located in a beautiful wooded setting,...

I have had the pleasure to visit almost all of the Kentucky State Resort Parks. Carter Caves did not disappoint. Although the lodge rooms are somewhat dated, the beds are comfortable and well equipped. Get an upstairs room if you are staying in the lodge to avoid any noisy footsteps overhead. The floors seem to be very thin. The restaurant...

Great park. Good trails. Cool caves. Informative and genial guides. And it is gorgeous and peaceful. The cabins are roomy and comfortable and clean with working fireplaces and they provide wood. The buffet in the dining room is tasty and the room is big with a view of the woods. The catfish at all the state parks is really a...
