This is not a real fancy place. No meals, no room service. We stepped out the room and in a few steps were in the beautiful Lagoon. This alone is worth staying here. Bacalar is beautiful. The room is mediocre and needs maintenance. The bed was a bit old and squeaky. But we didn't fall out.

Beautiful location across from water on shore rd. You could see out into water from cabin for a great view and awesome sunsets. Our friendly and hospitable hosts were a pleasure to meet and I enjoyed time spent talking with them. We used their kayaks and canoe and had a great time on the water. Great fire pit area to...

We stayed for the 1st two weeks in September 2015. Our experience was nothing but wonderful. Booking experience was lacking nothing at all. There was constant communication via emails and any questions I had were answered in great time. When we arrived, we were welcomed by fresh herbs in a vase and a sweet note. The cabin had everything we...

Spent 3 nights in the "Orange" cabin, which had all the amenities one would want. Kitchen has all the pots, dishes and cutlery, linens and towels are also supplied. There is a nice sitting area with a wood burning stove and a screen in porch which we enjoyed. Most of all, we enjoyed meeting and talking with Daniela and Detlef,...

Having been to St Joseph Island the previous year, we knew a little about the island. What we found in staying at Maria's Cabins is that there is no place like it anywhere on the island or in Sault Saint Marie! Quiet, Serenity, tranquility are what you can expect to find. The surroundings and lawn maintenance were impeccable. Adequate parking...

Great communication online for booking cabin. Cabin was clean, functional and well supplied. Spent time on the deck by the water to enjoy the view. Owners were very hospitable and friendly. Very relaxing and enjoyable.

The owners of Maria's cabins are warm and friendly, making sure that we had everything we needed and stopping to chat with us when they saw us outside. Staying in the cottage was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience.

We were looking for a super relaxing winter weekend getaway - napping, reading, nice dinners, nice walks. We had a great time at Maria's. Our 2 bedroom cabin was cozy and warm despite the 3 feet of blowing snow outside our door. Pros?: comfy beds (the sheets were amazing!), newish bathroom with nice towels and soap, well-equipped kitchen. Beautiful view...

Good to know you had a relaxing stay at Maria's despite the mounds of snow all around. Your tip for a window cover on the front door is much appreciated and will be taken care of. Friendly and wellbehaved dogs are always welcome here.

Staying on the island at Maria's Cabins was a very special experience. I am a German exchange student eager to explore Canada in the winter and was on a road trip with friends coming from the east coast and going west, when we decided to stay here for some time. We found a very beautiful place where we could enjoy...

Glad you enjoyed your stay at the cabin on the Island and got a charge out of cross country skiing and taking the skidoo out to groom the ski trails. As most of us Canadians know it's best to make friends with winter, dress warm and play in this magical substance called snow.

Maria's Cabins are situated on a small island in Lake Huron. The cabin was preheated when we arrived, snowshoes awaited us in the snow and the candles were lit: we felt welcome instantly! Our cabin had 2 double beds, a nice living room and a kitchen with enough equipment to cook a proper dinner. The cabins are situated at the...

“1 bedroom orange cabin with porch is amazing with quiet and tranquil setting. Two bedroom green cabin (soon to have it's own porch) is the best view of lake, Blue 2 bedroom cabin is well situated in the wooded surrounding. All 3 cabins are easy access to each other if your in a group. If your looking for the one with the best handicap access would be the Green cabin, has a side entrance ground level, the other two have stairs. The 1 bedroom has walk in shower, while the others have 4 piece bathroom with tub/shower unit. All well equipped for cooking in, located conveniently to the town square where restaurant, shopping is within walking distance or short bike ride (bike's are also provided for your convenience). There is No Air conditioners but the cabins are cool and well equipped for winter usage with fireplace or Wood burning stoves.”
