This place is nature paradise, birds and other wildlife, the beautiful sounds of this place can put your mind at ease. The local food served is fresh and delicious. Clean, comfortable and safe. The people are welcoming, Ezrah brought us to our cabin, set us up and answered every question we had. Jessie saw that we were interested in birds and showed us magnificent hawk and hummingbirds, I would live here in an instant if they let me! If you like the Hyatt and such fancy stuff, you should definitely stay in the city. If you love nature, sustainability, flowers, lots of trees and want to sleep in a comfortable clean cabin with the sounds of a garden of paradise, then come on over! A breath of fresh air.

Our four year anniversary was spent in Lapwing Cottage which offered an exceptional view of both lakes. The atmosphere was mesmeric. The bedrooms were beyond expectations (clean, well laid out, air-conditioned, good storage) & the beds were definitely comfortable.

On arrival, Simon made us feel at home and regaled us with some stories of the lakes. We're sad that we didn't get to meet the resident caiman.

The availability of meals (which included excellent meal options) made the stay even better. We brought our own sustenace but couldn't resist ordering food.

We thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by the hum of nature. There's nothing like eating breakfast with hummingbirds.

All in all, Hacienda Jacana feels like home & we look forward to staying again.

Beautiful location in the jungle! Waking up to the sounds of all the birds and having morning coffee with the hummingbirds was a joy. The cabins are clean and spacious, and provides comfort in a place where the quietness is disrupted only by the rich animal life surrounding you. Truly amazing to spend time in these cabins, and a great way to enjoy the peacefulness outside the city. If you want to get out of the city and experience the rainforest with it's wildlife on Trinidad, this is the place!

I came on a yoga retreat. The cabins were really beautiful and had all the relevant amenities. Great place for bird watching and the feeders brought the humming birds to you. If you really want to escape the hustle and bustle this is a great place. My only complaint is I had requested the Nightjar cabin and I got Gallinule which would have been fine but it was the furthest one from my group and as I was staying there by myself I would have preferred to be closer for a feeling of safety and security.

Hacienda Jacana provided idyllic accommodations and surroundings. The beautiful yet rustic cottages are nestled in the jungle overlooking the pond. It was so comfortable and peaceful. We relaxed and birded from our deck, strolled the jungle and ponds observing local species, and of course enjoyed the jacanas, gallinules, and lapwings living around the pond. In the morning we could hear and see the parrots, toucan and many other birds as they made their rounds. Jacana was the perfect base for a day tour to Caroni Swamp, and is ideal as well for a day's outing at Asa Wright. Everyone working at Jacana was friendly, knowledgeable and more than accommodating.

While we made our food in the well equipped kitchen, after seeing the gardens and learning of the fresh meals they can provide, next time we would order food from them as well.

Our experience setting up our trip was also smooth and efficient. Joanne emailed us responses to everything we asked, and was more than helpful in making recommendations and giving us insights into what the area could offer.

Overall, we had a fantastic experience at Hacienda

A nice relaxing stay! The caterer prepared delicious and fresh meals, which were delivered to the cabin on time. The option of having the breakfast essentials was great, and they did have a full set of cooking pans, plates, utensils, cups, glasses, etc.
The cabins felt spacious and comfy, it was so relaxing to see and hear the birds from the balcony or from the porch underneath. The plunge pool was also relaxing and clean. My young son enjoyed walking around, just watching nature. Looking forward to going on rainy season to enjoy the canoes better.

I found Hacienda Jacana to be a total birder's paradise. And if you're a foodie, Paul makes the best gourmet meals you could ever imagine!

From the minute I checked into our private cabin and stepped out on the balcony, I couldn't put my binoculars or camera down.

The birds, flowers, reptiles, cool insects and hospitable staff made for an unforgettable stay.

I highly recommend multiple nights at Hacienda. If you're a fan of Mother Nature, you'll have an outrageously delightful time.

This place is filled with special people. The hospitality was beyond what I expected from a "nature" resort. So many birds! I stayed in the main house, it has a very comfortable feel complete with kitchen, common room, reading room, outdoor patio, viewing deck, private bathrooms and the rooms felt sooo good at the end of the day. Thank you for a great time.

We spent 3 nights at Hacienda Jacana planning to use it as a base for visiting other places. The eco lodge was so wonderful that we had no desire to venture any further afield. Our cabin was so comfortable and spacious with a balcony that gave wonderful views over the adjoining forest and lagoon. The kitchen was so well equipped that self catering was a pleasure. Breakfast items were provided and we opted to have our evening meal brought in to us. Every meal was home made and delicious and I thoroughly recommend this option. As nature lovers we loved the peace and tranquillity along with the prolific bird life that surrounded us. A sparkling clean plunge pool gave relief at the hottest part of the day and all the staff were so helpful and friendly. From my initial enquiry to our three night stay Joanne was professional, friendly and made the whole trip an unforgettable experience and one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed.
